It's just trying to show that housing discrimination happens and that it is illegal, if you didn't catch it there was also an older gentleman in a wheelchair who was discriminated against. Housing discrimination happens to all races, genders, nationalities, religion etc, people who are disable. A Black agent could be racist against a Hispanic or a Muslim agent could be racist against a Christian. The POINT of this PSA is to inform on reality.

Who the hell is renting apartments? Just rich white guys? There are plenty of black, Mexican, Chinese, natives renting apartments without difficulty. If you can't pay the rent, that's another problem. Yes we're all a bunch of racists. I am blind, and have dealt with discrimination. I've been denied from boarding rides at county and state fairs because the operators thought I couldn't mount and dismount the ride, and had no muscle control. Now how insane is that? Plus, i tried to rent a room in one private house, and I was turned down because the house had stairs. For goodness sakes! I can walk. I just can't see!

That's kind of the whole point of the commercial. And it's better that they put a white male face on this particular character to show that white discrimination against minorities isn't across the board..

The purpose of this commercial is him playing private detective to make sure these landlords are letting all qualified applicants (pass credit check, background check) in. The may not have a person for example that is Middle Eastern in their town, so he has to pretend he is Middle Eastern. It is not against the law to pretend to be someone of another racial/ethnic group. It is cheaper for the fed to hire this guy than 12 more people.

i remember when i was disciminated at a bookstore. the cashier said he couldnt ring me up because he was busy with something important. so i stepped away, and then i saw a white woman come up and have her things checked out. I felt like i had been backslapped. that sort of thing had never happened to me before.
