  • Great song I first heard on the "Good Vibrations" boxed set, but this version in the video is actually longer and of much higher audio quality than the version on that set. Does anyone know if there are different versions of the song? Where did this come from? Thanks. The one I have seems to come from the same basic recording but is missing a few seconds and sounds a little fuzzier, like it was made from a copy of a copy.

  • im here because of happy feet:)

  • The Beachboys music was far more complex than most other genres.Brian Wilson is a genius !

  • did you put those ocean sounds in? sounds cool but i didn't find it elsewhere in this songs

  • great video work.#20pop,1968.one of my favorites by them :)

  • beautiful

  • The piano adds a huge ton of impact....

  • this is my favorite beach boys song of all time!!!!!!!

  • One of the most underrated songs of all times!

  • @BeachBoysJanDean1 The use of the word "underrated" on youtube has been overrated.

  • @JEDIALADDIN Your comment is overrated.

  • @BeachBoysJanDean1 I agree...seemingly so simple yet really sophisticated and cleverly constructed. the minor key is ace. a really underrated track. alongwith the beatles, the beach boys define the 60s

  • Happy Birthday Al Jardine.

    Thanks.

  • Dum de do ron !

  • 87 degrees today, 90 tomorrow. And this is September ??? Hey Autumn...Do It Again !

  • thats what my teachers would say when i get a homework asignment wrong theyd shout DO IT AGIAN

  • @wolfmanrick They may have been American, but they were loved in Canada too.

  • One of the best intros ever, love it played very, very loud...

  • this song is sooooooo' californian!!!!! great song !!

  • Correction: Thanks for the trip.

  • Great video, wonderful song. Thanks.

  • awesome video dude!

  • @southrider go listen to the stuff that doesn't get a lot of airplay. There's plenty of great music being made right now, don't shut yourself off to it.

  • I kind of love your video.

  • Great stuff from the Boys

  • 7 people dont know good music :○

  • great song

  • This music is certainly 10,000 times better than any crap recorded since 1985.

  • @southwriter , just curious, why 1985?

  • @rutgers1961 I was just thinking about when I would say the last of truly good music left, and 1985 was soon before rap and grunge came in and ruined the music scene. I remember when I heard Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit:" in 1991, I turned modern Top 40 radio off, and haven't listened to it since. But looking back historically, people had talent- played instruments and wrote worthy songs and sang well without the help of computers before the mid-'80s. Actually, the '30s-'70s were the best.

  • 7 people don't have anything worth doing again.

  • My Friend Is going to the concert of Beach Boys tonight :D

  • I can close my eyes and remember listening to this at my college radio station back in Morrisville, NY. I used to kick that 15" monitor up full tilt when this song was on! What a great time to grow up. Who the hell is Kanye West? Who is Boy George? The Beach Boys will live forever.

  • Great song and magnificent in stereo.

.If you look closely you'll see the guy on the last wave is Carl Wilson - or is it Curl.

  • The greatest song of theirs that no one bought! What a grand song it is!

  • The Beach Boys didn't invent summer. They just set it to music!!

  • This is a great Beach Boys song !

  • so nostalgic- I was 16 growing up in Nor Calif and going to Santa Cruz every chance I got- listening to this stuff- No one had more fun growing up I asure you

  • @koa2341 Oh I'm so jealous. Santa Cruz is beautiful!

  • It was just an exciting song.

  • I just wanna throw on my shades and light a cigar when I hear that snare start settin the beat.

  • Well I've been thinking about.

All the places we've surfed and danced and.

All the faces we've missed so let's get.

Back together and do it again.

  • I had just arrived Malacca when this came out in 1969 Love it

  • I'm not going to read all 221 comments, but someone asked if that was Sharon Tate (around 1:05). Yes it is from the movie "Don't Make Waves". Great, under-appreciated song.

  • Dont understand why this song was not more popular..

  • @drs82 it went to nr 1 in the uk

  • @drs82 Probably because it came around as a lot of bands were doing more reflective stuff, getting into a Social & Political style of writing. And the Beach Boys? Well, all they wanted to do was get back to the beach ASAP!!! Loved the Tune ,Myself!!

  • Brilliant........................Irish john

  • I want the 60 s back To think we actually thought it could get any better

Best time on earth to be a teenager

  • when it does no longer become automatic for the conversation to turn to girls we knew when we talk to old friends...?

  • Thank God we have music to take us back to good times good memories

  • Brian Wilson slowed the snare drum down at the beginning to get that amazing 'stretched out ' and the ba ba ba , ba ba ba sounds just like a bugle .

A timeless BB classic that sums up the late sixties .thanks

  • A perfect nostalgic song!

  • the best. the absolute best. I'm english and i love the Beatles but 30 years on I listen to thw Wilsons. We love you all

  • this is my second favorite bb song my favorite is i can hear music

  • Can't believe goons aren't commenting on the video. FANTASTIC!

  • my favorite beach boy song.

  • Id love to see this Beat Club footage from 68 without all the other added stuff....

  • Quintessential Beach Boys sound, most righteous!

  • lol

I used to think the Beatles were singing this

  • 4 people need to do it again

  • Not my favourite BB song but what a beautiful middle 8.

  • Happy Feet :D

  • opening line is timeless and so true.

  • Comment removed

  • The drums at the begining just draw you in, brilliant song my favorite of the Beach boys.

  • I love the start, but did anyone notice that the vocal comes in LATE and spoils the timing

  • @eamonosu What in the world are you talking about? You wrote the song or something?

  • @Azishome LOL

  • hells bells , they are the greatest , bring it on .

  • Love this song. Man, these guys know how to lay down a groove. Makes you wanna get up and dance and throw down the romance. Thank God for the Beach Boys. Amen!

  • @probrojeffro my words exactly!

  • This song is so chill..

  • Brian's high part in the chorus (or the melody for it, anyway) is lifted from Underwater, an early 60s instrumental by the Frogmen (elsewhere on YouTube). The Hey Now Hey Now line is a direct lift from a 50s (60s?) pop-R&B type song. Anyone know which one? I used to know but can't recall. Google hasn't helped.

  • @rangergrrrl The R&B tune you may be thinking of is 'Finger Poppin' time' by Hank Ballard and the Midnighters. Hey now, hey now - plus there's that handclapping that eamonosu refers to in opening comment above. Really hear it on 'let's go lets' go let's go' .

Hank sounds a bit like Chubby Checker to me. Good ear, RG. Hey now.

  • @RiffCraft8 Thanks! Happened to find the answer by chance just a few days ago. Funny timing...

  • @RiffCraft8 hank wrote the twist brian wilson did a song im broke it reminds me of something well its do it again it has that hey now hey now watch the video in here [paradoxicly al quit the beach boys to go to dental school because they were doing chubby checker songs then wanted back in when they did originals ] .

  • @RiffCraft8 I always think of Hank Ballard & The Midnighters "Finger Poppin' Time" when I hear this. It's got to be where they got the "hey now, hey now" form.

  • @pastafazool56 The Boys were sued by Chuck Berry for a cool million bucks for rippin' him off and Chuck won!

  • @lophatmike Are you talking about for example the Roll over Beethoven's and Fun Fun Fun's main riff? Or was that legal?

  • Thanks for posting this cool, seldom heard beach boys classic.

  • There is something really sexy about this song... It makes me think of doing a striptease.

  • great job

  • So very good to the surf shit! FGood stuff! Thank-you! Rock-on! 60's people!

  • I love how this song feels

  • St. Peter Ording 1968 - Gilligan, Rainer, Mao, Gerd u.a.

  • the best

  • what was so memorable about this song is the rhythm section, the tight bass and drums kicked-off a powerful new sound not heard before and ther handclap in the chorus added to it. turn it up and see what i mean.

  • @eamonosu Carol Kane and Hal Blaine, right? The Wrecking Crew, yes?

  • bloody hell what a terrific sound , they are/were the greatest , beautiful memories of Aussie summers past .

  • SWEET,

long time that we didn`t dance.

    come,let`s do it again.

  • I love.....bb

  • omg...than k you ...i love BB

  • one of my fav beach boys songs wtgggggggg

  • My favorite too!

  • AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH LOVE ITTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!

  • THis is my favorite Beach Boys song !!

  • @mgc2125 Mine too!

  • Happy Feet (Y)

  • Lets just make the Beatles and Beach boys 1A and 1B-Let blow away the competition

  • @longhornsrock1969

    HEAR HEAR

  • Great job with this job! and great song too.

  • Those opening bars. Love it, love it and the song for many many moons. Music is the main key to memory lane and it's a long one .

  • VH1 recently showed the top 100 artists of all time. Sadly, the Beatles were #1. The Beach Boys (the FAR superior band in my opinion) were #15. Bogus. They lasted longer than the Beatles even though Mike Love is apparently a lawsuit crazy prick.

  • @1obxeclipsedriver I love the Beach Boys too, but I they are number 2 in my book right next to the Beatles.

  • @thehal698 I'll admit that the Beatles have some good stuff, but to me the Beach Boys are just better. Something about the harmonies or being around for what would essentially be millions of years in the music business.

  • @1obxeclipsedriver - well actually Mike Love sues Brian for somewhat noble reasons. A couple of times, the people surrounding Brian took advantage of his mental state to get him to agree to business deals without consulting Love or the Beach Boys as a corporation. Mike sues to stop the infringement of not only his rights but the rights of Brian and the other deceased Wilson brother's families.

  • @RocktheStageNYC I've heard about that. It's a shame really.

  • the beach boys should get so muchh more recognition they deserve it, especially more the n beatles

  • Thanks America for giving us The Beach Boys.

  • So freaking cool, don't hear music like that anymore. So freaking cool.

  • best stereo version I ever heard ...

  • this has to be the best stereo version ... great remix

  • AMAZING song brians voice at the end is so calming..love it thank you

  • love the grooven!!!

  • The trouble with nowadays is that thing just aren't groovy anymore!!!! Not like it used to be, that's for sure.

  • Beautiful job!

  • Love it!

  • Great video for a great tune.....thanks.

  • Pure vacation in itself

  • I love that youtube thinks if I like this song, I want to buy a Dodge truck.

  • strangely, as bad as these lyrics are and this album is, I dig this song!

  • Gilgo Beach 60's summers! Miss it, miss it, miss it!

  • Without (insert classic group), there never would have been (insert shitty modern group) !!! Try not to deal in horseshit cliche.

  • Top song and sound man.

  • this is one of my favorites by them. I am obsessed with the sea, and this is track one on my maritime and my travel playlists on my ipod.

"with a girl the lonely sea looks good...makes your nighttimes warm and out of sight!!!" - when I hear that verse, i'm transported back to Punta Cana, DR

  • The summer, the beach and surfer girls. Does it get any better than that?

  • to the poster of this video, stevieschnick, i must say WELL DONE! for a fan video this is really really good! i love watching this video and listening to this great, great song!

  • classic....classic.... Carl wilson guitar riff.......

  • Without the Beach Boys, there never would've been a Jesus and Mary Chain. You can hear the beach music influence in their music.

  • Every kids dream in '65. How many of us planned the ultimate california road trip as soon as school was out...

  • During the intro, listen carefully on the right track..."take your clothes off"

  • @gdholmfirth

    Super excellent catch!

But is it real, meaning whose voice is it and is on the original version(s), etc?

    THANKS!

  • @NaturalTVtm It was on the original album i bought back when it was first released. It was easier to hear on there actually.

  • @gdholmfirth Pretty sure that's Brian saying "let's pull this off" (perhaps during a take for the backing track) but you never know...

  • What a fantastic sound on this video! The song sounds better than ever! Great posting of a great song!

  • THE BEACK BOYS WILL ALWAYS BE TRUE AMERICANS

  • THE BEACH BOYS WILL ALWAYS BE TRUE AMERICANS

  • you did an excellent job both video and audio. one of my many favs of such a great group.

  • "Do It Again" The Beach Boys swan song. They could not go back to "their" time.

  • Do It Again - The Beach Boys [Hawthorne, California] - No.20 on 8/17/1968. 7 weeks Top 40 - "AMG Pick. Surf vocals and beat." - Friends/20/20 [Extra Tracks, Original Recording Remastered]-(Capitol)-2001.

  • i love the beach boys!!!

  • They were multi-talented. Do it again was one of the last great recordings from them in the late sixties. It went straight to the top of the British charts!

  • They were very brilliant - no doubts over that one! I can remember this shooting to the top of the british charts!

  • thought i had heard most ofthe Beach Boys older stuff, but came across this

one on a live in Englad cd. Read that this was a popular song for Jan and Dean

to do on their live concerts

  • This track showed that the Beach Boys held great promise as a solid rock band,

a promise that was *not* fulfilled.

They began reading their reviews and recording

for the *fairies & débutantes* [you read that right, administrator] in the press.

They ultimately became caricatures, having long since lost any real rock nuts they might have had.

Too bad---the story of too many groups who started out so strong.

  • @mhantholz what are you talkin about? the beach boys are one of the top groups of all time!and still sound great !there harmony was second to none!!!!!!!!

  • @ambersstar1 I think he's referring to how the Beach Boys became a cheesy nostalgia band, featuring John Stamos, in the absence of Brian. Obviously, they were one of the greatest bands of all time during their 1965-1971 experimental period. From 1971 on though, not so much...

  • @mhantholz "held great promise...," yikes, do you have any comprehension how brilliant the coordination of riffs, lyrics, and melody is in this song? You name me one band that could begin playing at dawn and provide exceptional music until dusk. And I haven't even started about the three-part miracle, "Surf's Up."

  • This song was in the top 10 in the world charts in 1968

  • It was all so perfect -- except for the war and the oppression the protests nixon watergate- riots in our own neighborhoods- national guard killing students- why did we have to ruin it with drugs? Take me back to 69 and lets do it again

  • I just want to claim the Beach Boys for the South Bay (LA). Just great feelings generated by various songs.

  • lets get together and do it again or as mike says "lets get back together and SUE him again"

  • hey i really dig the colors, would you be interested in doing a video like this for one of my songs? check out 'judy' on my page

  • Nice video art work!

  • oh god great wipe out! is that hawaii north shore. probably..... just jealous. cheers.

  • This dude from the 60's used to switch to AM radio from my usual FM station in the hopes of catching this song.

  • i love this song it was in the movie flipper

  • @sharkboi54 and happy feet too!:D

  • Fantastic!! from one of the biggest Beach Boys fans ever

  • Oh yes..doesnt get any better than this....from a girl of the 60's!

  • Not one of my favourite beach boys songs but its nice to listen to if only for the fact that it was probably the last mainstream beach boys song to feature brians falsetto.
