I have never experienced this. I live in Canada. If I call EMS, they have us in, post haste!! If my kid needs a specialist, I have an appointment within a week! My daughter needed adenoid surgery and the day she was diagnosed, she had a surgery appointment a week later. I was at the doctor last week, and I was in the room in 5 minutes. I haven't had to go to emergency, but if I did and knowing the wait might be long, I would just call EMS and I would know I would be top on the list.
no such thing as a canadian 'system' the provinces deal with it. Doesn't mean because its bad there where he filmed that its the same everywhere, I personnally never had any problems seeing a doctor or never heard anyone around me waiting this long, he probably went to an hospital in a ghetto area where the emergency room is always full
This is merely a snapshot look into the Canadian healthcare system. I understand you disagree with universal healthcare, and i think that is a mere difference in ideology, but it is unfair and downright disingenuous to use your video as a started point for having a rational discussion about private vs public healthcare.
No one in Canada is denied service because of a "pre-existing condition".
And no one is getting filthy rich off of the pain of other people.
Steven is spreading all lies and Fox thinks the Canadian government runs Canada's health care? lol More than 90% of the doctors in Canada are paid on a fee-for-service basis. Claims are submitted to a single provincial health care plan for reimbursement, whereas in the U.S., claims are submitted to a multitude of insurance providers. Canadian hospitals are controlled by private boards and regional health authorities rather than being part of or run by the government.

Obamacare was signed on March 2010 with 59% of the people disapproving according to a CNN poll. The CBO scored Obamacare on six years of coverage for 10 years of taxes, which is how the CBO showed the bill to be deficit neutral . It’s unconstitutional mandating all citizens to purchase health care. Even Pelosi said, “We have to pass the bill, so you can find out what is in it.” watch?v=KoE1R-xH5To It’s also meant to take over industry watch?v=p-bY92mcOdk
he is in quebec its total different from the rest of Canada and i never had to wait more then 3-4 hours and only because there was others that were in worst shape then me...this guy doesnt know what he is talking about...probliy waited for the busyest day to do this shit..
Know what's funny? Moores film about Cuban healthcare was outlawed in Cuba because they feared people in Cuba would see they weren't getting what they were promised.
its all about selfishness. we need to get rid of the military....its not fair that the poor and people of color have to go off and die in wars to promote the freedoms of selfish conservatives who arent willing to do the same. Conservatives arent willing to shell out a few pennies so that all Americans can have the basic right of health care? Then we need to stop expecting people of color to make the ultimate sacrifice in the promotion of their "freedom

Love the little opening sequence because you know, in "Amurica" with our healthcare system (before the public option, of course) we *never* had to wait in the hospital. Not in a doctors office packed full of patients both with and without a previously set appointment, and especially not in an Emergency Room of a hospital, where your wait was based on a combination of severity and availability of doctors, nosiree.*end sarcasm*
You are totally rite on the money man! The Private American health care system puts the Canadian socialized care system to SHAME. Oh,... I almost forgot one question I wanted to ask you. Why is it that the Canadian life expectancy is 2 years longer than Americans? Oh, and infant mortality rate for Canada is 5 deaths per 1000 and the Americans is 6.2 per 1000 . But , I am totally with you buddy, the Canadian system sucks big time bro, and those waiting lines ! ... Wow .
@Reazzurro90 Where are you comparing? If you go onto both countries cancer society websites, you will see based on the 2009 numbers, that Canada's and the State's 5 year survival rates are virtually identical. When you factor the number of Americans that had to re-mortgage their house or go bankrupt to get that treatment, in addition to the recent study in the British Medical Journal showing that 2 million Americans forgo further cancer treatment due to cost, then which one is better?
The NHS can and has denied cancer treatment and life-saving drugs to patients considered 'hopeless' in the sense that their cancer was likely to kill them. I'd rather try to scrounge the money to find someone who will attempt until the end. So this business of Americans going into poverty for healthcare is simple nonsense, especially with regards to practices that occur outside the country. Not to mention the health-care immigration America experiences from UK.
@Reazzurro90 Question though for ya' ? How does one of those 50 million purported patriots receive "any" cancer care if they have no health insurance. Do they go down to the local salvation army and get it ? Please... enlighten me oh wise one...
@Reazzurro90 Your Census Bureau claims there are 47 million Americans with no health insurance. You know... the kind of insurance that cancer care requires. Your very own American Harvard Medical School estimates that 45000 Americans die each year from this very fact. You said earlier, (...surviving cancer the American system is far better than the Canadian one.) My point is, if 47 million people have no coverage at all other than free trips to emergency room, how is that system Superior ?
47 million is a fabricated number. 20 of those 47 million probably are illegal immigrants, 9 million aren't US citizens, millions more are uninsured youngsters who refuse insurance to avoid paying for it. The real number is probably closer to 8 million. At any rate, the system has its flaws because of regulations preventing competition. But the system is superior because anyone who needs real medical attention gets it at a FAR better quality than in Canada or anywhere else.
@Reazzurro90 FAR Better? Is that why prescription drugs cost 40 percent less in Canada, or the leading cause of personal bancruptcies in the U.S. is medical expenses. Hmmm.... I get your point .
bottom line is only people who can afford healthcare or the people those people brainwash think they dont need to have some sort of public option the haves try and get more even if it means stepping on the have nots to get it this was a problem in every period of time and every country or empire during that time and this will continue to be a problem for the rest of human existence as well only thing you can do is not make it easy to do call politicians and pugnants out for their bs
Hehe, Fox"News" at it's "best". Of course he chose to go to Quebec and to the hospital he was told was the worst in all of Canada. By the way, I don't think you'll see anyone from western, civilized Europe go to America for health-care. People from third world countries in Asia or Africa or maybe former communist Eastern Europe might go to America(or Western Europe), but there would be no point in going to America from Western Europe for any health-care.:)
@winterstellar - Actually the Saudis routinely fly to Cleveland OH, the cleveland clinic, for care. They fly past England, France, Germany and a whole bunch of other singe payer countries to get care. Why dont they just go a few miles north to Toronto? ---- Oh yeah, because they think the health care here is better than those other places.
When I was in Med School - I had a woman come here from England for care.
@jklovning Well, the saudis have very many contacts and properties and what-not in America, so that's not surprising at all. Don't they virtually own large parts of the US?: )
"We show the truth" - yeah, by going to the crapiest place in Quebec to get any health-care.
There is some statical comparison: yes waiting lines is about 3 times longer in Canada. However, that if you got the money, otherwise you will wait more by getting it on Medicaid.
Also, what he did not say is the price of such an operation, and the societal benefice and cost. He also did not talk about the cuts made in the 90's. There is many failures in this documentary.
Quebec is like a whole other country inside of Canada, they also have probably the crappiest health care in the whole country(all provinces run their plans differently). I live in this system in another province(Alberta) never once have I ever had any issues receiving care, i need blood drawn I go to the hospital and maybe have a 10 minute wait, I got an ultrasound in 2 weeks and if I am sick I call my Dr and am seen the next day.. this is propaganda at its finest.
@kipperfan02 You got an ultrasound in 2 weeks ? Awesome! Except my wife got her ultrasound in the amount of time it took her to walk down the hallway. I've been to Hospitals in Canada and they are all pretty much like this one. The receptionist shows the true Canadian healthcare system "If you have money some days you can get a doctor."
@montisleo I walked down a hallway to my ultrasound. I am a Canadian. I live the same place Kipperfan lives. In Canada it all depends where the ultrasound technician is located in comparison to your doctor. Of course I am speaking of 6 years ago, but I was able to make my own appointment directly with the ultrasound office. Were you able to do that? Just curious. I made mine on a Friday, for the Monday following.
@kipperfan02 quebec also runs canada. if they find out you have better care in alberta they will outlaw it. eventually all of you will be neo french unless you get quebec to mark their roadsigns in english. if you can't manage that then you need to just wall them off and have canada without quebec. really, do you need the sissified version of sissified france running your country? i think not.
firstly it is laughable that you think Quebec runs Canada. You are on drugs. Last I checked, the Bloc Quebecois has no seats in government You should probably go google how how government system works. Quebec actually has little to do with Canadian health care. Now let's get to the issue. Health care in Canada is FABULOUS.
Yes it has issues, but nowhere near the issues the US health care system has. That is fact. And the whole 'we wait longer for our specialists' is compete fallacy. I can prove it based on Canadian experience.
@magedogtag BTW, the ONLY reason Canada is bi-lingual French has NOTHING to do with Quebec. Just a Canadian lesson here, as your ignorance pisses me off. The reason Canada is a bi-lingual province is because of a small town in New Brunswick and Quebec didn't even apply for bi-linguilism. You are an uneducated twit. (with all due respect).
@kipperfan02 The only way that you have that is because Alberta elected a conservative local government and it is the most conservative territory in Canada. My sister lives in Saskatchewan and when her husband accidentally cut off his finger they just put a bandage around it and told him to come back the next day. Her neighbor had a heart attack and they didn't operate on her for three days. Another neighbor needed major reconstructive knee surgery and was put on a nine month waiting list.
@billyslo87 I do not see what a Conservative govt has to do with anything, I lived in Ontario for a brief stint too(which is predominately Liberal) I also had zero issues accessing care there either... in fact it was easier there than AB.
@kipperfan02 That is very fortunate that you live in a part of Canada that has a system that works (for now). But the undercover video is not about the isolated cases of nationalized medicine working, it's about showing the general way nationalized medicine works. That's what really matters.
Quite frankly, it looks terrible. Not only that, but this is not just Quebec, Canada. There are stories of crap like this happening all over the world with this system. I know people in England. Same story.
@tacticalrenegade You don't think the same shit happens in the States? I had it worse in Dallas, but do I conclude that every ER in the States is like the one I visited in Dallas with a 15 hour wait? No, I'm not that short sighted or naive. This video IS isolated, but can happen. I've never waited more than 3 hours in any Canadian ER, and Immediate when life threatening.
ANd our system is not nationalized. Its funded and managed by the provinces.
Agian, you simply can't admit that your system is far from perfect, and miles from what Canadians think it is. As a typical Canadian you change the subject to the United States and what you "think" happens here. This is what I mean when I say Canadians fail to realize their own ignorance, their own stupidity, their own grotesque reflection. Your nationalism is centered around comparing yourselves to the US, it is the backbone of your inferiority complex / identity crisis.
@JohnQRandom Here's the difference, I EXPERIENCED your system, have you experienced ours? Cherry picking one fucking day in a busy ER, then trying to paint an ENTIRE system the same way is foolish. Spare me on the comparison part. Americans try to compare their system to ours in a superior way all the time, yet continue to ignore the thousands of AMericans that die every year because they can't even access yours. Our system is not perfect, but is FAR better thnn leaving Millions behind.
With 300 million people and MILLIONS of illegal immigrants exploiting our country as it is, a socialized system such as yours is not only impractical but impossible.
@JohnQRandom That's a fair statement. I don't blame you for feeling that way. But maybe you should give yourselves more credit at accomplishing that impossible task. They thought putting a man on the moon was impossible too.
@JohnQRandom I agree. I get frustrated when I hear mistruths about our system, at the same time I try to listen to what others say that I don't always agree with. Of course, I have to respect their opinion, which I do of yours.
@JohnQRandom And I never want to make it a U.S. vs. Canada thing, or come off as being anti-American, as that's the furthest from the truth. I have many great friends and colleagues in the States. I love to visit and vacation in the U.S., and do often. Planning another trip in August.
@MadHabber93 Fine. It's not nationalize. It's socialized. Big f***ing difference. All in all, you're going to find more of this in proportion to non nationalize/socialized medicine.
@tacticalrenegade Its not socialized medicine either. Doctors and hospitals in Canada are privately owned and operated. They just submit payment to the provincial province for payment, that they receive Every time, unlike your insurance run system. THat's the BIG Fucking difference.
@kipperfan02 And who's to say that the situation in Quebec won't spread to Alberta. All you need is for the population to grow as the number of doctors remain the same. Only propaganda? Please.
(And don't tell me that Quebec is the only one with bad healthcare. While it may be the worst it certainly isn't the only case of Healthcare gone wrong)
@kipperfan02 Propaganda? Was the video doctored? How do you explain the video unless you believe it has been altered in some way? (OR Your IQ can be rolled on a pair of dice)
@DSuper3 Canada is a big friggen country(all provinces do different things with their health care), and using 1 experience in one part of Canada to generalize the whole thing is propaganda. I mean I went to Arizona one year and seen blatant racism more than once toward Hispanics, should I therefore assume and make a generalization that all Americans are racist?
@kipperfan02, doesn't look like propoganda to me at all. Seems pretty straight forward.
No one is implying here that the whole country is like this. The issue is the opposition to a centrally controlled system, and he gave an example of where it's failed.
There's no shortage of money in Quebec. Its GDP per capita is comparable with the US, but the beareaucrats still manage to mess it up.
As a Canadian with family in the healthcare system who watched Steven's video, i am shocked at the dishonesty. When Steven went in, he said pretty much all the things you should say if you don't want to get served. He said things like "i might have hurt it" and wouldn't describe the accident with anything beyond "i fell." In canada, we prioritize our treatment based on severity of the injury, not the size of your pocketbook. Steven essentially tried to get his priority as low as possible.
@SLBS1234 Crowder is the honest one. Are you one of Obama's Czars? Facts: Canadiens politicians come here for health care and US politicians voted themselves exempt from Obamacare. Canadians use Detroit hospitals, the worst in the US. The lady in the video said, "if you have cash" -the usual government corruption. 40 states suing Obamacare and many more to join. No way pal, we'll keep the best healthcare in the world and the Canadian doctors will continue to have a place to flee.
@doodlesbutt Gee, you don't cherry pick much. You do realize that 60,000 Americans used the Ontario system in one year...right?? Not to mention the fact over the last number of years, more doctors from Canada are returning to practice here, then that are going over?? Or the fact that the number that are going over quatify far less then 1% of the doctors in Canada?? No, you just cherry pick a couple of stories and paint with a broad brush.
@doodlesbutt For your "if you have cash" comment. That's not to get into the public clinic, that's EXTRA they can pay in the province in Quebec to go to a for profit clinic, that wasn't even open that day. Where was Crowder when I spent 15 hours in a Dallas emergency?? Probably at some other Canadian one wasting their time with a fake injury. Crowder is a dick.
1. "We'll keep the best healthcare in the world." Sure you can. Provided you eliminate the 36 other countries that have better healthcare than you according to the world health organization, one of which is Canada.
2. The lady was clearly making a joke
3. Some Politicians go to the U.S. for healthcare, but only because you guys cater to the rich.
4. The rest of the civilized world has free healthcare. Its working great for everybody else. It can work for america too.
@doodlesbutt Sorry, but "Canadiens politicians come here for health care"... There is only 3 on the record: the "newfie"PM Danny Williams, Belinda Stronach from Newmarket—Aurora and the ex-PM from Québec Robert Bourassa. Not to mention you should take off Bourassa of that list, even if he did it twice because he is death 15 years ago!
However, let keep that in mind: 3... How many politician there is in Canada?
@Marakulous43 I recall to have found, in the public record, only 3 Canadian politicians, from the federal or provincial level, that have gone to the USA for medical treatment since Bourassa. That Bourassa gone twice, that Chretien might have gone - just not sure about this one... However Canada have 520 elected politicians at the federal level, and 650 elected provincial politician... I forget the territories, but add them and the time factor... I got "marginal" in caps.lock over these stats.
I live in Western Canada, in a city of about 70,000, and it is nothing like that here. Quite frankly I am thankful for our socialized medicine. But I can say that only because I live in one of the top three countries in the world economically speaking.
The U.S. is NOT in the same financial position that Canada is in and simply CANNOT afford Socialized medicine at this time. Social security is already a fiscal time bomb waiting to explode and sink your economy.
Crowder needs to visit some hospitals & clinics in the USA too. This is like those man in the street interviews, you can always find some dummy to make the other side look stupid.
True, but, I have not really had any problems with the US system
I went to a clinic, I waited about 20min to see a nurse practitioner, she took a look at my problem, said I needed a specialist, gave me a number which I called, got an appointment the next day
went in, got the diagnosis and surgery the same visit, and the doc noticed something, took a blood test, I got surgery, was handed the test result on my way out, IDing the problem, and the medication I needed to fix it
@BarthBunzel true..but alot of people that go to the emergency room in the US are going there cause they are just your regular run of the mill sick, of course they are gonna have a long wait cause its all need based. from MY experience with broken arms and more serious stuff, the broken clavicle guy waiting several hours would never happen in the US he'd get right in.
Having actually HAD a broken Clavicle at the wonderful age of 18, I can honestly say you don't know what you are talking about. I went to the county hospital (had Medicare coverage), took 4 hours for them to get pain meds in me... Bone was compression shattered into 14 pieces. I was at the hospital a total of 14 hours, all to just be put in a sling with a few prescriptions.
Some common sense triage is what is lacking in the health care industry, ESPECIALLY with the public options.
The medical system in the US is one of snobbery. Only the wealthiest get addressed first and if you don't make the salary cut you are just shit out of luck and that's all there is to it.
@booblebumthumb then go to canada if you DON'T LIKE IT! that's how we keep our country out of debt, but some people want to spend out of morality. it's not my responsibility to PAY FOR YOU!
I would rather wait 10 hours than not have enough money to afford any medcare at all like many Americans I am sure have siffered from if not died from also.
So what you people are gonna believe Neil Cavuto the same way several of you idiots still calling this idiot to find out how to flip houses? LMFAO! Fuck Fox news and their Joseph Goebells inspired Propaganda! By the way here's a fast kicker for you idiots who (Like Zombies) Buy into fox news Bias! Fox News was the last media outlet in the nation to admit to the fact that WE ARE IN A RECESSION!!!!
I don't care about Canada You IDIOTS! You need better tactics than using Canada as an example to attempt to sabotage Obama's innovative ideas. You people are fucking stupid, I don't care about Canadian health care, I care about American health care because I live in America NOT Canada You fucking MORONS!
@Slayerfan84 You damn well BETTER care about how efficient Canada Care is run because Obama is imposing that shit on Americans. We may be "stupid" but we can clearly see that socialized medicine has not worked in Europe or Canada and most Americans do not want this piece of excrement.
@kmillard Actually, again, Canada has nothing to do with our health care system. I want a system for Americans that will work, what do I care about Canada? I don't live in Canada, I live in America. The American Health care system is the one I will be seeking not the canadian one. Well, hopefully I don't turn into Rush Limbaugh and go to Costa Rica to Receive SOCIALIZED MEDICINE!
Your golden boy Obama and all his leftist heroes such as Bill Maher and Michael Moore cite Canada as an example of success. Thats why they have to show that nigger this tape.
@amitp2 Ah I see, so he's a Nigger as well you say? By the way, what do these leftist heroes that you speak of have to do with my comment? I support the American people, and the American people continue to go on without proper health care. Private sector is there only to do what they know best, How to make more profit. That's all the private sector knows, how to make more profit!!!!
And Yes....because private sector knows how to make profit, it provides it's best to get more profits.
And on the other hand...everything that government does is also for profit..profit of beaurocrats. The only ones get benefited are the ones who have cosy relationships with those thugs..
Yeah, and the private sector's healtcare system has some of the BEST GODDAMN SERVICE IN THE WORLD!!
Yes, the Lowest Common Denominator tends to go on without proper healthcare. Here's the kicker: most are people who DON'T WANT IT. The few that do and can't get it, however, are casualties, plain and simple. In Free Market, there will ALWAYS be someone ground under the heel of another...it's how the system works.
@SickBritKid On the basis of what? Alert! this just in, courtesy of AP Reuters "Canada's economy created far more jobs than expected in June in a surprising sign of strength after a raft of discouraging data...Canada's unemployment rate dipped below 8 percent for the first time in a year and half as the country added a higher-than-expected 93,000 jobs in June"! You might want to check your comments next time.
@SickBritKid Actually, there is some connection between heathcare and the jobs. Ontario builds more cars than any other State. Why?? Partially because it's cheaper to produce cars in Canada because it costs less to supply healthcare coverage for the employee's here then in the U.S. Plus, guys like you jump all over countries in Europe and blame their Universal care systems on why their economies aren't doing well, so give us a break.
@SickBritKid ? WTF? What the hell are you talking about? You know what I give up I can't continue discussing this with someone that doesn't understand anything. So I'll leave you with this, Health care affects the economy in numerous ways. 1, due to high health care costs that keep driving the nation's deficit up, an overhaul was necessary! In the U.S. we spend $7,000+ per person on health care. When your spending this much money, I think the economy and health care become very relevant!!!!
Yeah, Fox News is extremely right-wing, it's kinda obvious. But they do give facts that mainstream media would never speak of. Fox News is extremely right-wing and every other news station is mostly Liberal. American health care isn't all that great, it needs some improvement, but Obama's plan for health care reform would pretty much screw us. It's kind of sad that even though the majority of America is against health care reform, it still gets passed because of left-wing powers in the govt.
@DJShea777 Totally agree with you on the right-wing thing. Problem is right-wingers seem to be the only people who make decent financial commentators as lefties seem to only tout government programs in accord with their ideology. The saddest thing is that like the religious, people have always ascribed moral superiority to the political left so continue to give them the benefit of the doubt when all that stimulus crap is totally bogus.
I live in Canada. Between my wife and I, over the past 5 months we've had to go to the hospital 5 times for what was (unfortunately) a serious medical situation. 4 of the 5 visits were to emergency. The longest wait for the emergency visits was 30 mins. The non-emergency visit wait was 45 minutes.
Pretty Pathetic that americans believe everything they see on TV. I went to the hospital here in Toronto Last week Had to wait only 45 minutes had 2 C.A.T Scans, X-Ray, Blood Taken, I.V put in cost me Nothing. I dont know where you americans get off everyone around the world knows that your health care is about making money not helping people
@shadowgeyser English is my third language, so I apologize if I have some spelling errors. I have had conversations with Americans who have a far worse grasp of the English language than me, so I don't think my points are very reduced by some minor spelling mistakes. I would like to see you write in a third language.
This guy has no shame. Every major study (except those paid for by major pharmaceutical companies) shows that health care is better in Canada than US. This guy has "revealed" the truth by going in with a camera? He is a typical republican lier.
This guy is a MAJOR LIER. Americans just want to hear what they already presume. Americans have the worst health in the industrialized world. That is fact enough that we have a terrible system.
Wait long? I went to the doctor without a appointment multiple times, one time because I smashed my head on the side walk and I got treated immediately and had paid 0. Another time I had a swollen face after a dentist operation and I had to wait 30 min and got my antibiotics for a small price. These are just bullshit stories, I can find them in any nation.
Steven Crowder is such a liar. I have never waited to get a family doctor. My father was diagnosed with cancer of the kidney and he got a operation to have it removed within three weeks and has been cancer free for years. Hey if Americans want to listen to this fool, then all the power to them, but just know they must went in search for these places to skew there video in their favor, because I am a 38 I have been to the doctor for a lot of health concern in my life and have never had a problem
/watch?v=J9N1LWAQAHM&feature=related, all people see this video...an arrested Taliban/Lashker terrorist confessed working for indians and being paid for killing people in Pakistan...
I live in Ontario, have a family doctor, have never had to wait for an appointment or a blood test. The care I have received is top-notch and I thank God every day for our health care system.
Could wait times be improved? Sure. Inefficiency be eliminated? Definitely. But I proudly pay taxes for a system that covers every last one of my countrymen, and the more we can improve it, the prouder I'll be.
Agreed, I'm Canadian too and I love our system. The wait times for things like procedures and tests is all about how much you need it. If your doctor is worried that you might have cancer or heart disease he is gonna get you in to take care of it right away. Its based on need, unlike the American system which is based on how deep your pockets are.
@lobsterman91 as long as the American doctor in the reformed system can get me access to Marijuana once I develop a terminal condition, then I'm good. FYI, who the fuck wants to live forever in a corrupted society. New secret to a greedy society, die broke so govt has very little to take :)
Who believes Neil Cavuto? LOL! By the way why didn't you make such trip to Britain and France? So that we can learn from nations that have adopted SOCIALIZED MEDICINE! And oh yeah Britain and France have the best health care in the world, don't just try to compare Canada's health care system to ours!
A nation that spends over a Trillion dollars per year on National Defense but allows 45 million citizens to not have health coverage. The equivalent of a "911 attack" die each month from lack of coverage. I wonder if Terrorism is tops on their list .....
Where is your PROOF of what you say we can point to lines in this bill yet you show these blleding heart numbers that are not backed by any real facts. Even the people you trot out for these heart sob stories you only show the half truth the woman Obama went on about a few days ago who could not afford insurance and had cancer, Know why she was not there? She was in the hospital being treated for her Cancer, with no insurance.. amazing
guess that is terrorism to me but for different reasons
the way they are going about getting it passed, against the people, the polls have indicated that an overwhelming amount of Americans dont want it and they dont have the votes so they use thier power to get it passed anyways, that proves it is motivated by an agenda, insurance agencies employ alot of people, and home health care companies that rely on insurance, tens of thousands, me included are going to loose their jobs over this, so I am firmly against it
I am the first to say that this is politicized from both sides of the political spectrum, this bill has alot more to do with a huge grab in power, the demise of the insurance companies, im not a fan of insurance companies in fact mine costs way to much, healthcare needs fixed, but not this way, this is a ploy for progressives to get the foot of America so to speak, in the socialist door, the progressive agenda is not for the good, and the proof is the way they are going about making it law.....
ou are totally rite on the money man! But , I am totally with you buddy, the Canadian system sucks big time bro, and those waiting lines ! ... Wow .
ummmm I guess you forgot to mention that was filmed in the PROVINCE OF QUEBEC ... of course fuckedup FOX doesn't ask if that's also the case for the rest of Canada ...
I just got back from the Walk In Clinic in Toronto ON ... waited to see a doctor 30 min. afterwards had to go for X-Ray ... waiting time 4 min. SO CLEARLY Steve Cowder you show only one site and generalize it for the rest of Canada, SHAME on YOU
This entire video in my eyes only proves that American health care is no better than Canadian health care. I limped into a hospital with a broken arm and nose from a fall and it took the people there 4 hours to get to me, I dont see much difference here.
And looking at the ways FOX twists the truth, I wouldnt be surprised if the woman at the desk was paid to say what she did.
But has tons of bias in it. What they don't do, is go to another clinic that is open. I can guarentee you another one was open. What they don't do is make it seem like they are in any distress at all. The Canadian ER works on priority like any ER, the nurse processed them and it was pretty clear there was no emergent issue that needed treatment.
I have good healthcare insurance and I had to wait for more 2hrs to see a doctor while some people who couldnt even speak english went ahead of me.
What Steve Chowder head doesnt understand is that some healthcare is better than no healthcare. Some people make less than 30k a year and they cant afford healthcare at all.
Exactly, and that is why your healthcare system is costing so much, because they get admitted to ER!
This is the very essence of why universal care is important, to avoid people being admitted to the ER, the most expensive unit in health care.
What those people against universal care don't realize is that it comes out of their pocket to help pay for the uninsured already. If you avoid the ER you save money!
I am glad I live in a Country that provides health care for it's poor. Life is a right, not a privilege. It's sad the Right Wing movement can't adopt this principle across the board for all American life.
I had to go to my family doctor the other day (I only have major medical insurance) here in the USA. I called at about 8:30 am and got an appointment for 9:15. I was in and out in about 40 minutes. I got my prescription filled about 15 minutes after I left. Less than an hour I was back at work. The doctor's visit cost me about $70, which I paid out of pocket. To me, that is 1st class health care.
But , I am totally with you buddy, the Canadian system sucks big time bro, and those waiting lines ! ... Wow .
Why all the whining? You guys have won....health care reform is defeated and no other Democratic president will ever again touch this issue...Congrats Right Wingers...The cartel of health insurance giants will now have a monopoly on heath care for decades...we've just seen the results: Gigantic premium increases to policy holders in California, Indiana and Maine....20 - 39% premium increases across the board....There's rejoicing in health insurance boardrooms...what a tragedy.
@johnlouisville No no no, we want to open up the free markets in health care, make insurance INSURANCE. not a policy that covers everything. With obamas reform private premiums would DOUBLE make everyone go over to the public option. Plus adding trillions to the debt. Insurance companies actually mark up a 5-10% profit rate, that is very low for any industry.
Economic 101: The free market system does not work in health care. Demand for health care is inelastic, if you get sick you need it no matter what in particular with more serious conditions/diseases, which means insurance providers can basically gouge the crap out of you to provide it.
@wrennard Absolutely not, The insurance companies do not gouge the crap out of you! Once again they are working at one of the lowest profit rates out of any business. HEALTHCARE Costs money, and you seem to be forgetting that. If we took away insurance all together and made people pay for each exam, each doctor visit they'd realize this, take care of themselves and be more careful. Instead, we are expecting a 400$ premium to cover every freaking thing we do.
Alright, you are right, insurance companies don't so I will correct my statement. Hospitals gouge, thus forcing insurance companies to charge what they do. No one really knows what it costs the hospitals to operate because they are privately owned. It is well known that there are some exuberant pricing when it comes to billing of services in hospitals. The hospitals can do this because first, they are privately owned, second, because of my rationale above.
This is a great video! Even if Quebec is the worst run province in all of Canada. I've never had an experience like that at any local hospital that I've ever been to in my life. I have epilepsy and if I had to wait anywhere near that long for a prescription refill I am guaranteed to have a grand mal seizure. Private health care isn't that much, Obamacare is going to perma-fuck the system!
Cut away all the legal fees the doctors need to prepare for, and medical costs decrease exponentially. The only ones on that list that should get gov. healcare are military personnel, because they are the ones who take bullets to defend the country. With Tort reform poor people could afford private healcare. As for retired people living off social security, they should be cared for only until we get rid of that horrible, unsustainable system altogether.
I wait 10-15 min., more than that I tell'em they got 5 min. or I'm leaving and I'll find another physician with better service. That's the beauty of free markets you socialist shitheads. Then again, I pay for my healthcare.
Who cares what Canada's medical care is like? We are not them and aren't trying to be. We are America, we are, or at least were, a Republic and should not institute anymore socialist laws, no matter how much they help socialist, or semi-socialist, countries.
Quebec is not Canada. They are 1 province of 10 and they have really crappy, bureaucratic healthcare. Where I live, you rarely wait more than 4 hours in a hospital even if you come in with a runny nose, you don't need a family doctor to go to a clinic and the wait is rarely more than 2 hours if you don't have one. If you have one you can just schedule an appointment and not wait at all. The list goes on, but to my American neighbours just know that Quebec does that represent Canadian healthcare.
Quebec is not Canada? Are you retarded. I guess California is not America. I mean it's not like they are controlled by the US government or anything. O wait...
Dude, did you purposely misrepresent my post? The Canadian government does not dictate how health care in run in the provinces, that is something they run entirely on their own, as long as it is universal. Therefore, Quebec's health care is not Canada's health care, because it is only one province of 10 and they all do it differently. I take issue with the fact that this boy went to one province and now claims that this is what Canada's health care is like.
yeah, and quebec is fucked lol, noone likes quebec, their like..... alaska lol canadas health care is an awesome system, ive never had to wait more then an hour to see a doctor lol, ive never ran into any problems with it, i live in nova scotia btw
Also where I live, if you have a life and death situation in an emerg situation, you get priority. Just sayin'.
supermommyof2angels 2 months ago
I have never experienced this. I live in Canada. If I call EMS, they have us in, post haste!! If my kid needs a specialist, I have an appointment within a week! My daughter needed adenoid surgery and the day she was diagnosed, she had a surgery appointment a week later. I was at the doctor last week, and I was in the room in 5 minutes. I haven't had to go to emergency, but if I did and knowing the wait might be long, I would just call EMS and I would know I would be top on the list.
supermommyof2angels 2 months ago
no such thing as a canadian 'system' the provinces deal with it. Doesn't mean because its bad there where he filmed that its the same everywhere, I personnally never had any problems seeing a doctor or never heard anyone around me waiting this long, he probably went to an hospital in a ghetto area where the emergency room is always full
LaMouleQuiCoule 4 months ago
This is merely a snapshot look into the Canadian healthcare system. I understand you disagree with universal healthcare, and i think that is a mere difference in ideology, but it is unfair and downright disingenuous to use your video as a started point for having a rational discussion about private vs public healthcare.
No one in Canada is denied service because of a "pre-existing condition".
And no one is getting filthy rich off of the pain of other people.
I love my Healthcare system!

Not in a doctors office packed full of patients both with and without a previously set appointment, and especially not in an Emergency Room of a hospital, where your wait was based on a combination of severity and availability of doctors, nosiree.*end sarcasm*

@fila1971
Infant mortality rate and life expectancy hinge on other factors, not just healthcare systems.
If you compare other matters, however, like probability of surviving cancer....then the American system is far better than the Canadian one.
Reazzurro90 1 year ago
@Reazzurro90 Where are you comparing? If you go onto both countries cancer society websites, you will see based on the 2009 numbers, that Canada's and the State's 5 year survival rates are virtually identical. When you factor the number of Americans that had to re-mortgage their house or go bankrupt to get that treatment, in addition to the recent study in the British Medical Journal showing that 2 million Americans forgo further cancer treatment due to cost, then which one is better?
MadHabber93 1 year ago
@MadHabber93
You're incorrect.
Reazzurro90 1 year ago
@Reazzurro90 Question though for ya' ? How does one of those 50 million purported patriots receive "any" cancer care if they have no health insurance. Do they go down to the local salvation army and get it ? Please... enlighten me oh wise one...
fila1971 1 year ago
@fila1971
50 million what? What are you talking about?
Reazzurro90 1 year ago
@Reazzurro90 Your Census Bureau claims there are 47 million Americans with no health insurance. You know... the kind of insurance that cancer care requires. Your very own American Harvard Medical School estimates that 45000 Americans die each year from this very fact. You said earlier, (...surviving cancer the American system is far better than the Canadian one.) My point is, if 47 million people have no coverage at all other than free trips to emergency room, how is that system Superior ?
fila1971 1 year ago
@fila1971
Reazzurro90 1 year ago
@Reazzurro90 FAR Better? Is that why prescription drugs cost 40 percent less in Canada, or the leading cause of personal bancruptcies in the U.S. is medical expenses. Hmmm.... I get your point .

Hehe, Fox"News" at it's "best". Of course he chose to go to Quebec and to the hospital he was told was the worst in all of Canada. By the way, I don't think you'll see anyone from western, civilized Europe go to America for health-care. People from third world countries in Asia or Africa or maybe former communist Eastern Europe might go to America(or Western Europe), but there would be no point in going to America from Western Europe for any health-care.:)
winterstellar 1 year ago
@winterstellar - Actually the Saudis routinely fly to Cleveland OH, the cleveland clinic, for care. They fly past England, France, Germany and a whole bunch of other singe payer countries to get care. Why dont they just go a few miles north to Toronto? ---- Oh yeah, because they think the health care here is better than those other places.
When I was in Med School - I had a woman come here from England for care.

There is many failures in this documentary.
therrydicule 1 year ago
Quebec is like a whole other country inside of Canada, they also have probably the crappiest health care in the whole country(all provinces run their plans differently). I live in this system in another province(Alberta) never once have I ever had any issues receiving care, i need blood drawn I go to the hospital and maybe have a 10 minute wait, I got an ultrasound in 2 weeks and if I am sick I call my Dr and am seen the next day.. this is propaganda at its finest.
kipperfan02 1 year ago 12
@kipperfan02 You got an ultrasound in 2 weeks ? Awesome! Except my wife got her ultrasound in the amount of time it took her to walk down the hallway. I've been to Hospitals in Canada and they are all pretty much like this one. The receptionist shows the true Canadian healthcare system "If you have money some days you can get a doctor."
montisleo 1 year ago
@montisleo I walked down a hallway to my ultrasound. I am a Canadian. I live the same place Kipperfan lives. In Canada it all depends where the ultrasound technician is located in comparison to your doctor. Of course I am speaking of 6 years ago, but I was able to make my own appointment directly with the ultrasound office. Were you able to do that? Just curious. I made mine on a Friday, for the Monday following.
supermommyof2angels 2 months ago
@kipperfan02 quebec also runs canada. if they find out you have better care in alberta they will outlaw it. eventually all of you will be neo french unless you get quebec to mark their roadsigns in english. if you can't manage that then you need to just wall them off and have canada without quebec. really, do you need the sissified version of sissified france running your country? i think not.
magedogtag 1 year ago
@magedogtag
firstly it is laughable that you think Quebec runs Canada. You are on drugs. Last I checked, the Bloc Quebecois has no seats in government You should probably go google how how government system works. Quebec actually has little to do with Canadian health care. Now let's get to the issue. Health care in Canada is FABULOUS.
supermommyof2angels 2 months ago
@magedogtag
Yes it has issues, but nowhere near the issues the US health care system has. That is fact. And the whole 'we wait longer for our specialists' is compete fallacy. I can prove it based on Canadian experience.
supermommyof2angels 2 months ago
@magedogtag BTW, the ONLY reason Canada is bi-lingual French has NOTHING to do with Quebec. Just a Canadian lesson here, as your ignorance pisses me off. The reason Canada is a bi-lingual province is because of a small town in New Brunswick and Quebec didn't even apply for bi-linguilism. You are an uneducated twit. (with all due respect).
supermommyof2angels 2 months ago
@kipperfan02 The only way that you have that is because Alberta elected a conservative local government and it is the most conservative territory in Canada. My sister lives in Saskatchewan and when her husband accidentally cut off his finger they just put a bandage around it and told him to come back the next day. Her neighbor had a heart attack and they didn't operate on her for three days. Another neighbor needed major reconstructive knee surgery and was put on a nine month waiting list.
billyslo87 10 months ago
@billyslo87 I do not see what a Conservative govt has to do with anything, I lived in Ontario for a brief stint too(which is predominately Liberal) I also had zero issues accessing care there either... in fact it was easier there than AB.
kipperfan02 9 months ago
@kipperfan02 It also depends on the age of the individual because the neighbors of my sister's were in their late 50s and early 60s.
billyslo87 9 months ago
@kipperfan02 That is very fortunate that you live in a part of Canada that has a system that works (for now). But the undercover video is not about the isolated cases of nationalized medicine working, it's about showing the general way nationalized medicine works. That's what really matters.
Quite frankly, it looks terrible. Not only that, but this is not just Quebec, Canada. There are stories of crap like this happening all over the world with this system. I know people in England. Same story.
tacticalrenegade 7 months ago
@tacticalrenegade You don't think the same shit happens in the States? I had it worse in Dallas, but do I conclude that every ER in the States is like the one I visited in Dallas with a 15 hour wait? No, I'm not that short sighted or naive. This video IS isolated, but can happen. I've never waited more than 3 hours in any Canadian ER, and Immediate when life threatening.
ANd our system is not nationalized. Its funded and managed by the provinces.
MadHabber93 7 months ago
@MadHabber93
JohnQRandom 7 months ago
@JohnQRandom Here's the difference, I EXPERIENCED your system, have you experienced ours? Cherry picking one fucking day in a busy ER, then trying to paint an ENTIRE system the same way is foolish. @tacticalrenegade Its not socialized medicine either. Doctors and hospitals in Canada are privately owned and operated. They just submit payment to the provincial province for payment, that they receive Every time, unlike your insurance run system. THat's the BIG Fucking difference.

He said things like "i might have hurt it" and wouldn't describe the accident with anything beyond "i fell." In canada, we prioritize our treatment based on severity of the injury, not the size of your pocketbook. Steven essentially tried to get his priority as low as possible.

I went to a clinic, I waited about 20min to see a nurse practitioner, she took a look at my problem, said I needed a specialist, gave me a number which I called, got an appointment the next day
went in, got the diagnosis and surgery the same visit, and the doc noticed something, took a blood test, I got surgery, was handed the test result on my way out, IDing the problem, and the medication I needed to fix it
seemed good to me
LordVigeous666999 1 year ago
@BarthBunzel true..but alot of people that go to the emergency room in the US are going there cause they are just your regular run of the mill sick, of course they are gonna have a long wait cause its all need based. from MY experience with broken arms and more serious stuff, the broken clavicle guy waiting several hours would never happen in the US he'd get right in.
docj09 1 year ago 10
@docj09

Yes, the Lowest Common Denominator tends to go on without proper healthcare. Here's the kicker: most are people who DON'T WANT IT. @Slayerfan84
Yeah. The economy and the healthcare system have absolutely NOTHING to do with each other...
SickBritKid 1 year ago
@SickBritKid Actually, there is some connection between heathcare and the jobs. Ontario builds more cars than any other State. Why?? Partially because it's cheaper to produce cars in Canada because it costs less to supply healthcare coverage for the employee's here then in the U.S. Plus, guys like you jump all over countries in Europe and blame their Universal care systems on why their economies aren't doing well, so give us a break.
MadHabber93 1 year ago
@SickBritKid ? WTF? What the hell are you talking about? You know what I give up I can't continue discussing this with someone that doesn't understand anything. So I'll leave you with this, Health care affects the economy in numerous ways. 1, due to high health care costs that keep driving the nation's deficit up, an overhaul was necessary! In the U.S. we spend $7,000+ per person on health care. When your spending this much money, I think the economy and health care become very relevant!!!!
Slayerfan84 1 year ago
@Slayerfan84
Seeing as we'll be spending MORE for MUCH LESS under Obamacare...
The economy's gonna shit itself when Obamacare goes into effect this December...

Agreed, I'm Canadian too and I love our system. The wait times for things like procedures and tests is all about how much you need it. the way they are going about getting it passed, against the people, the polls have indicated that an overwhelming amount of Americans dont want it and they dont have the votes so they use thier power to get it passed anyways, that proves it is motivated by an agenda, insurance agencies employ alot of people, and home health care companies that rely on insurance, tens of thousands, me included are going to loose their jobs over this, so I am firmly against it

Some people make less than 30k a year and they cant afford healthcare at all.
therepublicanknight 1 year ago
@therepublicanknight right - and you know, they get taken care of. That person who couldn't speak english most likely didn't pay.
Tetrall 1 year ago
Exactly, and that is why your healthcare system is costing so much, because they get admitted to ER!
This is the very essence of why universal care is important, to avoid people being admitted to the ER, the most expensive unit in health care.
What those people against universal care don't realize is that it comes out of their pocket to help pay for the uninsured already. If you avoid the ER you save money!

Why all the whining? You guys have won....health care reform is defeated and no other Democratic president will ever again touch this issue...Congrats Right Wingers...The cartel of health insurance giants will now have a monopoly on heath care for decades...we've just seen the results: Gigantic premium increases to policy holders in California, Indiana and Maine....20 - 39% premium increases across the board....There's rejoicing in health insurance boardrooms...what a tragedy.
johnlouisville 1 year ago
@johnlouisville No no no, we want to open up the free markets in health care, make insurance INSURANCE. not a policy that covers everything. With obamas reform private premiums would DOUBLE make everyone go over to the public option. Plus adding trillions to the debt. Insurance companies actually mark up a 5-10% profit rate, that is very low for any industry.
jukiluti 1 year ago
Economic 101: The free market system does not work in health care. Demand for health care is inelastic, if you get sick you need it no matter what in particular with more serious conditions/diseases, which means insurance providers can basically gouge the crap out of you to provide it.
wrennard 1 year ago
@wrennard Absolutely not, The insurance companies do not gouge the crap out of you! Once again they are working at one of the lowest profit rates out of any business. HEALTHCARE Costs money, and you seem to be forgetting that. If we took away insurance all together and made people pay for each exam, each doctor visit they'd realize this, take care of themselves and be more careful. Instead, we are expecting a 400$ premium to cover every freaking thing we do.
jukiluti 1 year ago
Alright, you are right, insurance companies don't so I will correct my statement. Hospitals gouge, thus forcing insurance companies to charge what they do. No one really knows what it costs the hospitals to operate because they are privately owned. It is well known that there are some exuberant pricing when it comes to billing of services in hospitals. The hospitals can do this because first, they are privately owned, second, because of my rationale above.

CanadianQueer 2 years ago
Quebec is not Canada? Are you retarded. I guess California is not America. I mean it's not like they are controlled by the US government or anything. O wait...
socer777 2 years ago
Dude, did you purposely misrepresent my post? The Canadian government does not dictate how health care in run in the provinces, that is something they run entirely on their own, as long as it is universal. Therefore, Quebec's health care is not Canada's health care, because it is only one province of 10 and they all do it differently. I take issue with the fact that this boy went to one province and now claims that this is what Canada's health care is like.
