  • my favorite version----------> TORONTO 1973 with PETE singing & KEITH on drums PERFECTION~~~

  • Petes, yes Petes, working on it

  • Suppose I meant Pets there at the end not "pets". Good ole Pets Townshend!

  • What makes it nice is you can actually hear what Monnie is doing. So much of the time live boots of the who render Moonie to a kind of muddled muffled shimmer for lack of a better term. Here you can hear everything he is doing and that really reveals some stunning interplay between John, Pets and Keith as a power trio.

  • A live performance such as this just proves my endless point that I've been trying to make for forty plus years now........there was no better band than The Who in their prime. Absolutely nobody. Thanks for posting this tune.

  • Moonie at his best....not bad from the others, neither :D

  • The best at their best. Makes every other rock'n'roll band ever look just plain silly.

  • Bluuuuues!!!!!

  • Most impressive thing I have ever heard.

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! Some of the best drumming ever!! They sounds off the charts amazing!!!!

  • WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW im getting this played at my funeral

  • I can't find a better live drowned than this...

  • so im trying to bid for this on ebay...how much is it really worth? ..even though it is priceless...

  • freaking awesome post one of the best versions i have ever heard, definitely The Who at there strongest and most powerful

  • Teachin' the snare a lesson at 0:55.

  • "Tales From..." is the best version I've heard. If there are better, I'd like to know! A great boot, and while the audio isn't A+, you do get a good listen at Moon and the amazing stuff he could do live.

  • @moondough yes, there are actually a few different versions of that boot flying around...none a+ as you say...but if you get speakers set right, its not bad at all...like i have it in my car stereo at the moment, and after a play with the equaliser and playing it very loud, it sounds so good...for me, its the greatest live album there has never been....i'd love to see a proper version released...

  • Unreal. Can't believe this is the same band (minus thunderfingers and moonie of course) that stunk up the Super Bowl!

  • bad thing is that was a lot of people first impressions of the who. they played well but i heard there was a ton of audio and amp screw ups and failures. dissapointing

  • What a band!!! RIP John and Keith!!!

  • Absolutely amazing, I totally agree - the best live version I've heard yet!

"Moon the Loon" and John "Thunderfingers" at their very best - R.I.P to both them.

  • for sure...thanks for comment on it

  • That snare roll just past 0:54 is incredible.

  • absolutely the best lead guitar playing by Townsend. I love this record!!!

  • The who ....rock n roll history thank you for all the great music.

  • Keith = The Only One.!!

  • They can't stop!!!

  • The performance is just pure class. The drumming is almost unreal . Machine gun drumming as only Moonie could

  • That is stunning!!!!! Thanks Dougm1971.

  • yeah..you're not wrong...thanks

  • Yes - this is the BEST live version of this song to my knowledge. It's probably one of my favorite live Who moments in general as well. Just incredible.

  • that's exactly what i think too

  • The phrase that comes to mind with this band is "BATTERING RAM" they just beat songs into submission.

  • for sure

  • Even better than the version recorded at the Sundown in December 1973

Incredible. How can anything be better than this

How do you fing the question mark on an Italian keyboard aaaargghh

  • yeah...it's superb for sure

  • I agree...Dec 22, 1973 is amazing from start to finish...but its not a soundboard--so it throws many off.

    :)

  • A brilliant version, there is so much intensity!

  • you got that right

  • This is so tight I hardly get a live vibe from it. Which is hogwash of course, but just how I feel. Too good. I love it. ;)

  • AMAZING! A 9 min. drum solo wrapped around 1 of the greatest songs.

  • yeah :-)

  • Wow, never heard that one before Doug.

    Quite explosive. Great drumming.

  • you're right

  • This is amazing...my buddy used to have this(I was very jealous)back in highschool..82-83....we listened to it often..an amazing bootleg !!Thanks for sending..brings back good memories ! Cheers Doug !!

  • i knew you appriciate this one eddie

  • This is awesome! If you have any more Who videos (even if they're just audio) could you PM me the links?

  • sure

  • WOW. I might have just died. (in a good way) That is amazing, I have chills.

  • give me the chills too :-)

  • tremendous! this is the best version I've heard. The 1982 version with Townshend singing is good too.

  • yep :-)

  • Very good quality.
