I do not understand this my whole life had mostly been free from suffering until I started doing this bs now I'm constantly suffering I think I messed up something natural...maybe I just am luckier than others
So, in nirvana, wouldn't the whole illusion of "someone" "doing" "something" fall away altogether?
Isn't reincarnation what actually occurs all the time within one so called lifetime,
as the mind seizes upon a particular novel mental structure to fulfill some projected desire, and then identification with that structure takes place?
Once you attain Nirvana, you don;t really need to meditate anymore. once u attain Nirvana u have it for life and after death .
Meditation can still be helpful for almost anything.
If you decided to write books or articles to teach people on various subjects, Meditating on those things can be helpful. an obvious one writing a book teaching people different types of meditation as well as aplying meditation principles in daily lives etc.
@Hellstrike There are several realms, planets, and domains within the universe and mind, many with several types of life forms. One realm dwindles while another expands as all traverse in different forms. Even on earth, humans are in a cycle of increase, yet some species are declining into extinction. Everything cycles. The human population is now increasing, but in time, through natural disaster, widespread disease, birth control, etc. the human population will dwindle to be reborn elsewhere.
@zachfitz87 Thank's for the reply. I can see how the animal kingdom being in constant flux with humans, would make sense with the idea of rebirth. Must mean we as humans are doing something right if we're constantly expanding our population. Though with all of the natural disasters, leaks and spills, who knows.
I've not had time to listen to all of this yet, but I have difficulty of the idea that the goal is to detach from everything, that everything we like in this world is ultimately disappointing and life is inescapably painful and that therefore there's no point and we need to leave it behind. Isn't another valid view that, yes, there is suffering, but there is also good stuff, so why not focus on that? Also nirvana to me just sounds like an atheist nothingness - or have I misunderstood it?
Everything is relative. The 'good stuff' is our perception and is largely a function of the surrounding 'bad stuff'. To an experienced meditator who has experienced the bliss of jhana, ordinary 'good stuff' is like grabbing a red hot coal. You must meditate and read the Buddha's suttas. An ordinary mind with deluded perception can never fathom these deep insights.

I hope I got this right? Nirvana takes place after death. For a person who will not be reborn. Thank you for sharing.

So what's the buddhist theory on our growing population and the correlation with rebirth, is not everyone's existence through rebirth?

Thank you very much yuttadhammo! Knowing I do not have to let go of everything at once motivates me to meditate more and worry less.
