i have a 71 pinto that same color i bought from a lady who got a DUI and parked it in 1983 under a shed. it has the 2.0 with auto trans and has 75850 actual miles.
It's a tube chassis car. There's almost enough room to walk around in there. The engine can be pulled without removing the radiator and the there's enough clearance to remove the oil pan while it's in the car.
@19713969 that is B.A.! i love the sound, im building a cleveland powered maverick. actually just got it going.. but i want that sound! tell me some more about you engine combo.
currently its a 351 2v and is bone stock. but i want to build one with 4v heads(the quench chamber ones). and a big solid lifter cam, and tunnel ram + plenty of compression to make use of E-85.
@nickriede what are you turning it? tunnel rams suck at less than 8k, and there'd better be some serious stuff inside that block if you're doing that!
I've done some launches in it behind a friend's shop and been to some local car shows last fall, then I herniated a lower disc around Christmas, so I haven't been able to get to the track. Car should run low to mid-10's.
I saw 351C pwd Pinto and I was like I hope he modded the enghine comp cuz there aint no way a Clevo can fit in there and I see you did that and backhlaved it becuase that lil bastard is prob squirlly as a mofo! Kick ass car btw too. I love the dorky 70's cars with Huge V8's I own a damn GREMLIN with a V8 myself :-)
Glad you like it. The only way to do one is to set the motor back. Otherwise, a Pinto will be nose heavy and will never hook up. This thing hooks hard and straight. I'm going to sell soon to put together another project ('65 fastback).
naw, not the only way to do one....i've got an '80 with a Cleveland in the stock position with a four-link......but if the rear suspension isn't just right, it's squirrely as hell!......this is the way to do it!
Thanks! Haven't been to the track yet, working on tuning and hitting some car shows. I just installed the inner valve springs, new starter and battery yesterday. I figure it should run around 10.5, but I may need to change the gears because it has 5.13's set up for the 1/8, so I'm going to hit the 1/8 mile track first.
I had a friend with a healthy 302 in a Pinto and that thing was downright frightening to ride in. They really need the frame work you did. Good job.

@238truth... Inner fenders are cut out. It helps. Makes more room for custom headers.

Not sure on the headers, look like hookers. The mufflers are 3.5" Flowmaster 40's.

That will be wicked! You'll have to do some modifying to get it to fit though. I'm getting ready to restore a '65 fastback myself.
