Unreal job fellas. I thought she was a goner. I'm no firefighter, but I've seen a lot less fire do a lot more damage in more resistant structures than this one. Keep up the good work! Nice vids Newschaser too.
Excellent job...two comments aside... defensive (outside) operations on a light weight wood truss building spot on; collapsed quickly. Video does not show, large hand line 2 unit down from the main body of fire, cutting off fire spreading thru the attic.. 2nd ladder placed midway to trench cut or use deck gun if needed...was obviously not. Big fire, Big water....1000 gpm deck gun in operation...2x 1-3/4 handlines and 1 x2 -1/2 handline & A-Foam...Good stop considering load and wind !
First there were two teams doing interior attack at all times. Second Aerial was spraying water at first but stopped after fire breached roof. Why. Because it was driving fire and massive heat onto firefighters who were in attic.(notice wind direction)Firefighter on ladder was acting as spotter. Third spraying water onto fire that is that big does little. Most is turning to steam. By wetting wood u slow fire allowing crews inside to knock down. Things r not always as they seem.
@Cataphract121 The FF on the ladder who was acting as a spotter does not have his full PPE on. He should not have been up there. I have seen it before. The building has a smoke explosion or flashover and it envelopes the ladder and burns the FF. No reason a FF with full PPE could not be up there. Hate to see such things in this day and age.
A little too close to home for me. I live on Beechwood, and although I was at school at this time, my hubby txted me and said there's a building on fire. I was in a bit of a panic!
So they have a nice Aerial ladder truck there, but all I saw it being used for was to provide a good veiw for one fireman, instead of spraying water onto the roof from above.Awesome use of your equipment and resources there Moncton BS
@1996figureskater indeed but i have been told it doesnt stay like that for long when renovations occure which is a plus. ya get about a nice 20 and plus thickness of bricks or stone worth of almost fireproof, i mean most buildings like that dont fall apart easily unless the trusts are broken.
And this is why I don't cook. Something always goes wrong.

I only see fire in the attic. Was anyone inside pulling ceilings? Good ariel placement but where is the water? Good end result though, good work.

@v34jahailis Yeah a lot of these old buildings have asbestos and mold in the walls, no doubt
