To Iesous238 who posted a long thread around May 2011 along with several others
Sorry, I removed this whole thread. I was unaware that this long discussion was transpiring. I do not find Lesous whole angle too helpful or informative and decided the whole thing must go. Sorry for all the work that everyone put into it but I feel I just have to remove it, including all the rebuttals.
The Orthodox Church is Apostolic, also. and is the oldest Christian Church founded by Christ Himself at Pentacost in AD33. Rome wasn't the only Christian center, since Christianity spread from the Eastern Empire. Just giving people the other side of the coin.
@vasilyjc1955 but the orthodox cannot claim to have a successor to saint peter, who was bishop of Rome. i think it pretty important to have saint peter's apostolic line a part of the greater apostolic tradition, especially if you take the passage in Matthew 16 seriously
@p4p4b34r1989 What's said of Peter in Matthew 16 and John 21 is said of other people in other passages. Other people are rocks upon whom the church is built.(Ephesians 2:20) , and other people have the keys of the kingdom that let them bind and loose and open and shut, (Matthew 18:18, 23:13). Peter was central in the early spread of the Gospel, but nowhere in Scriptures does he have authority over the other Apostles, and Scriptures does not record him being in Rome.
THE ORIGINAL CHURCH IS IN THE BOOK OF ACTS. APPOINTED PASTORS, EVANGELISTS, PROPHETS, TEACHERS, AND BISHOPS. POPES? FATHERS?NUNS? REPENT AND BE BAPTIZED IN THE NAME OF JESUS FOR REMISSION OF SINS. INFANT BAPTIZM? INDULGENCES? MORE LIKE A MAN MADE RELIGION.
@beloerca popes = bishops of rome, fathers = pastors appointed by bishops, nuns = religious who takes vows and commit their lives to Christ. infant baptism = why not baptise infants (anyways the bible says whole households are to be baptised, and the church fathers and the didache confirms this). indulgences = application of the merits of the church, the body of Christ.
anyways, who are you to say what is man made or not? are you the infallible arbiter/interpreter of the bible?
@beloerca how are we to know that you have been ordained by Christ to interpret His written word? or the people who taught or forwarded these same ideas? where are your credentials? give me a list of your teachers that go back to the first apostles and then maybe i'll be willing to take you seriously

The Papal church is still "apostolic", and "unbroken" throughout history? Give me a break!
