  • You don't have to pay 28,000 for a one piece back lead violin. Any ol' plywood practice violin will do...

  • make a violin.. then ur problems will be solved...

  • This lady knows zilch about choosing a violin. Most violins are made of spruce and maple, even genuine Stradivari. Quality varies from awful to superb from the same maker. Some cheap violins can be made to sound good, but makers sell the best sounding ones at higher prices. Take a good violinist with you to choose a violin. Choose best sound in your price range. You want sweet sound, good volume and good balance. Then pay for an expert setup. Setup is everything when learning to play.

  • I can't stand what you are talking. That's totally crap. mahogany violin??? you must be out of your mind. Dear beginner violinists, DON'T watch these videos!

  • i watched how violin are made and they are made from 2 piece not one. (sorry if i'm wrong though) and there is nothing called practice violin or not.

  • It's funny because every single thing she says is wrong. It's like she found out what to say by looking up "chair" in the Swedish wikipedia, translated it into Japanese, then into Pig Latin, then into English, then said "violin" instead of "chair", and ...voila. Expert Village.

  • Oh, and by the way, violins are not made out of mahogany. They're made out of maple and spruce. I recommend a handy little thing called "Google" if you want to check your facts before making such outlandish statements. PS there's a lot more to playing a piece than just looking at the key signature first.

  • 1. No such thing as a "hand-made practice violin." The better the violin quality, the more handwork went into it (and the more expensive it is, too). 2. One-piece vs. two-piece back, makes NO DIFFERENCE whatsoever. I just checked my $28K violin...hmmm...two-piece back. 3. Decent student violins can be had for $500 and up; you might get lucky on eBay or you might get a POS unplayable violin-shaped object. 4. I guess anyone can call themselves an "expert" online.

  • Well now we know the secret of her fantastic tone,( it is obviously pure talent and dedication). She (only) has a four thousand dollar violin. That is scary. To sound so good on such a relatively cheap violin. Just imagine how amazing she would sound if she had an expensive stradivarius violin with a mahogany back and a front made out of bambooshoots and plywood magnesium excrement sulphate rectum composite.

  • @mrwasbesonders lol! I laughed at your comment

  • Well actually my violin was £38 so thats about $50 i think? and im grade 2 and my violin is perfect !

  • Mahogany? why dont she just say its made out of palm tree?!

  • the best series of violin lessons.

  • Or you could rent a violin till you get really serious about the instrument....

  • What is this woman on about???? MAHOGANY?? Maple and spruce are the woods used to make a violin. I have never in my life heard of a mahogany violin. And really, a 1 piece back doesn't make a hint of difference. To be honest, most expensive violins have 2 pieces backs anyway. Oh and she honestly paid $4000 for that made in china violin???

  • @vissi87 if you have different views that is fine, but honestly, have you ever even looked at the type of violins in stores? theres more than maple and spruce. plz, if your going to insult someone for the fun of it, get your facts straight

  • @link1able Ok link1able, I am aware that in rare circumstances other woods, or should I say materials are used in the manufacture of violins. Yes, I should have stated that 'typically' it is maple and spruce woods that are used for the great majority of instruments produced, however this does not suggest that mahogany is one of those woods as it certainly is not.

  • @link1able also, I am not the one attempting to teach young violinists about the instrument like this woman is doing. I am not insulting her for the fun of it, I just expect someone who is in that position to know what they are talking about and clearly she does not.

  • I LOVE THIS Lady soo amazin

  • I got mine for $60. USD and it plays perfectly, just like any other $5000. USD Violin o.o

  • Don't listen to her. For beginners, I advise you to buy a violin for $150 and then buy one for $400.

  • @ItsEryk Most of the time you only have to pay around $60. - $100. For a nice violin xD And it comes with the rosin /Hard case/bow/shoulder rest and everything.... If Anyone wants a link to the shop i got mine from just ask :D!

  • LOL at this point I think she's just getting a kick out of spreading misinformation.

  • I just bought one for twenty five freaking bucks. Brand new, too.

    Ebay does wonders.

  • 4,000? liar. or if not, she has no right telling someone to pick out violins. mine cost 2.5 thousand and it sounds a TRILLION times better than hers. im freaking playing on it when i play at carnegie hall this march and i wouldnt even play on hers that supposedly cost 2x mine. plus, she has NO idea about one piece back. my teachers cost 18 grand is 2 piece and made from maple and spruce like most violins and she plays in the smphony. this lady needs to shut her lying mouth

  • 1 minute videos are retarded

  • what about electric violins? wont they do the job?

  • O.o im not learning anything from her tutorials. LIKE WTH? O.o

  • i got my brand new beginner violin at $80

  • uh, I got mine from Ebay for $50...it rocks.

  • she is crazy

  • I bought one 4 years ago for 500 bucks.

    Best violin I ever had.

  • Violin cost versus value is a hotly debated topic. My Scott Cao was 1,500, while my NS Design was just under 2,000.

That said, there is often nothing wrong with some of these $100 violins. They may lack the mellow sound of an old instrument that's opened up and suffer from a bit of buzz, but let's be frank... at the level of a beginner, will you notice the difference?

It takes years to develop your ear, so anything in your price range to get you started playing, I say jump on it.

  • ... I just spent $100 on the dot for my practice violin. O_o You fail it, my dear.

  • i dont no were she payed for her violins decent beginning ones can range from around £50 to £100 so thats lik $100 to $200 roughly if they relly are that expensive in the US go on UK site there as good and may be alot cheaper lol

    Trust me

  • i dont have the kind of money

  • I WANT IT!

  • lol

  • you and your mahogany violin are great!!!

  • I can't believe someone got you to pay $4000 for that $20 violin you are playing!! That is hilarious!! Served you right for posting this fraudulent series of videos, though!!! You're awful.

  • Are you out of your MIND??? Do you know ANYTHING about the violin??? puh-lease! Most professional level instruments do NOT have one piece backs, nor is there any evidence that a one-piece back is any better than a two-piece back, or all the best contemporary makers would make them that way, obviously. And, I'm sorry, but did you say MAHOGANY????? There is no such thing as a mahogany violin or any sort. You are a fraud and I don't think much of expert village anymore.... signed~ Juilliard grad

  • @fraggleferret /signed

  • @fraggleferret all you said was correct..except..my friend is a violin maker.he makes violin with mahogany and it sounds great..but yes..violin with mahogny wood are rare

  • I paid £42 for my violin. (There's $2 to the £, so thats $84

  • Is it any good?

  • Yes.
