  • BAM ba ba BAM ba ba

    BA ba ba ba BAM

  • Symphony No. 9, "From the New World" is surely a great piece, but all people in this orchestra, along with Karajan, are now dead. Death is the inevitable final absurdity in a fundamentally meaningless existence. I can't get away from that.

Maybe this composition is escape, itself.

  • 1:28 I dunno Mr Bean was here :)

  • 4 people are sons of lady Gaga

  • hehe wer is deutsch

  • @TonieJodeeex434 ich :D

  • who cares about fking religion.. just keep quiet and enjoy the music

  • This sounds perfect, karajan is one of the best

  • wow!!! That;s a LOT of strings.........

  • Karajan's charme...is overwhelming, by listening this music with this orchestra with this director....tears are flowing...

if u ask me, do u believe in god or something divine...after listening this masterpieces i say...yes...Music is the breath of the Divinity!

  • He's my favorite conductor!!

  • How is it that there's not ONE woman in that orchestra? :o

  • @nicromis I guess since its from 1966 they were in the kitchen makin some sandwiches xD

  • @ironduck666 Could be true =D Than god it's a little different today.

  • @nicromis yupp true :)

  • this recording is amazing!! Karajan was a genious :O

  • I love how they all move together. Recently when I was in Austria and saw the Vienna Phil in rehearsal, I didn't feel the same energy as this orchestra always seems to produce.....sublime :)

  • Still the greatest orchestra....

  • which mozart pussy disliked this?!

  • @thronsohn @uetzel music is forbidden by the Holy Quran?? I beg your pardon, I'm a Muslim and I'm hurt by your comments. Music is universal, a gift from Allah for us.

  • @narukayars You are right. And it speaks to every people who has enough sensitiveness to understand it. Without distinction of sex, race, richness, religion, language.

  • @narukayars

According to most articles I have read about that subject, music is Haram.

  • @narukayars I read there is a part in the quran in which Muhammed says that all musical instruments have to be smashed. I do not really believe this, because I know muslims myself who like music. I'm just confused.

  • @derBene

there are "muslims" who drink alcohol and eat non halal meat. you are like one of them for liking music!

  • @narukayars i think he is partly right, because many extremists interpret religious scripts just in the way it is useful for them (taliban, al quaida, the vatican, the pius brotherhood, the ira...etc)

  • please correct me if I'm wrong but I could not find any woman in the orchestra.

  • @criticismsociety yes you are right! In BPhil as in WPhil (the best Orchestras in the world) women are admitted only from the last few years!

The first woman in BPhil was, for Karajan´s will, Sabine Meier, but after a while she gave up!

  • @maggeo78 what are the BPhi and the WPhil??

  • @KnobiTobiful Berlin and

    Wien Pfilharmony

  • @MightyTrynda thanx:)

  • @KnobiTobiful BerlinPhilarmonic(Orchestra) and Wien(Vienna)Philharmonic(Orchestra)

  • @maggeo78 almost correct! but other than the vienna phil the berliners never had a policy against women in the orchestra! it just wasn't common for most girls to even learn an instrument in that time.

and the first woman in berlin was madeleine carruzzo (1st violin) and she is still with the orchestra!

  • @mortalfrog0815 Not at all. First woman was Sabine Meyer, as maggeo78 sayed. Karajan resigned from B.Phil. 'cause they didn't accept a woman in the orchestra.

  • @Matteo7419 the berliner philharmoniker have an official channel on youtube! a while ago they uploaded an excerpt of abbado conducting prokofiev's romeo and juliet. look up that video and read the uploader's comments. i was merely quoting that comment about women in the orchestra! i think i can rely on that!

  • @criticismsociety please correct me if i'm wrong but I'm aware there were no southamericans in the orchestra

  • @criticismsociety so what? should there be asians and blacks and skimos and jews and muslims in this orchestra for us to enjoy the music or appreciate the hard work of these people? why don't you give up your moronic view points on everything which is not precisely tailored to your own royal taste?

  • Find a bad recording by Karajan and the Berlin Phil ... go on I dare you!

  • What a brillant performance!

Thank you so much for sharing!

  • The Real Karajan!!!

  • The Real Karajan!!!

  • Ich liebe es! Es ist so wunderschön!

  • I fell in love with a German girl after she advised me to watch this performance. I will always have her in my mind when listening to this!

  • Search Youtube for Karajan Unknown Symphony!!!

  • @mikakrstic do you have the link?

  • phantastisch! danke herbert, danke maggeo78!

  • Why would you guys even comment on Thronsohn's comment? He is clearly a troll. First of all, he is commenting on a piece of music himself. Second of all, he is commenting on The New World Symphony...one of the most important symphonies of all time. If he was commenting on something more "mainstream," then I could see them as being serious...don't take stuff like this seriously, just enjoy the music. Thronsohn should be ashamed at himself for making some listeners motives turn bad.

  • @Thronsohn Music is the best gift of God, I'm sorry you can not understand it!!!!

I'm not afraid of his judgement!!!

  • @maggeo78 yeah, definitely, even the pope said that :D

  • @Thronsohn Clearly, stupidity is not forbidden by your faith ! If you follow all the rules edicted by men in the name of some invisible god, in the exclusive interest of some men, you'll have to stop breathing, stop eating, stop loving, stop everything that makes life itself !!! THINK by yourself and stop following blindly that bullshit !

  • @Thronsohn You know, religion is the best thing on earth when it helps the people ! When it is an instrument of power, of oppression, it becomes something evil !!!

  • @Thronsohn ololololollolol noes!

  • Comment removed

  • @Thronsohn I am an imam ;) i tell you music is not not forbidden by the koran because its an expression of joy. Sins are forbidden. Sins are when you make orgies or something like that. so when you do too much

  • @Thronsohn somepeople are totally idots. Poeple like you

  • Utterly powerful, I must say I prefer this earlier rendition to later versions. Sheer Karajan magic!

  • + 9:13 .... So powerful!!!

  • waah so geiil

  • It's a little bit too fast for me...

  • @Edsworth911 lol

  • Karajan is the only conductor I know who takes the music more from his heart than from the score... that's what makes the performance so powerful

  • Grandios!!!

  • isnt there bit of lord of the rings??

  • @666MrGandalf666

    What the fuck ?

You must ask.... "isnt there a bit of dvorak in the ost of lord of the rings"

  • 7:48 looks like a new dance

  • it woult be better if they play more powerfully!

  • @Fahrstuhlhippies

I want them to play more powerful too but they DIED already!!

  • I wonder why he decided to play it in F minor instead of E minor

  • On my computer the pitch is a half-step too high creating a faster tempo than originally performed.

We love it!

  • 6:20 Ludwig Streicher

  • ab 6:20 am 1 Kontrabass....Ludiwig Streicher

  • Wow, this is the best, even better than his other recordings of it. I have never heard it performed so fast, but yet it sounds so much more natural. This is the perfect 9th.

  • This is the most amazing symphony... Dvorak and Mozart simply the best !

  • You gotta love the maestro

  • Top performance, except the recording doesn't pick up the bass very well.

  • I love the way of feeling Herbert condukt this song!

  • Allegro con fuoco =fast ,with fire

  • wahnsinns qualität, und natürlich auch tolles werk :)

  • it derserves tousand times more views than lady gaga, justin beeber, tokio hotel and all those retarded fuckers together

  • @Brrrrreakbeat lady gaga has talent but she makes more money not using it

  • A masterpiece. Their unification, enthusiasm, and passion are so well expressed. Indeed, "Das Wunder Karajan"!

  • Epic

  • How can I get the DVD of the full concert?

  • @Huelsentrieb freut mich!

  • the one at 1:28.. the right one.. he looks like mr bean.. xD

  • this is crazy. crazy good. but also crazy scary. also it looks like hes having a sword fight at the beginning. 8 horns and 4 of each trumpets and trombones lined up in two rows!! all the cellos in a row agaiN!! rows! rows of cellos! what a good bass sound!!!! they changed the key so they can put the opening down an octave :) DID I MENTION HE LOOK...S LIKE HE HAVING A SWORD FIGHT!

    sorry that was necessary

  • @shostamahlerbachetc we play it with the bochumer symphoniker at the moment, unbelievabel. 12 horns!!!

  • Too fast! Deutche Vorstellung ...

  • @podstolacka not too fast ... karajan was the best Conducter of all times... he knew how fast to play it

  • I think it's a little too fast!!

  • @WolleRanger not too fast ... karajan was the best Conducter of all times... he knew how fast to play it

  • Amazing!

  • Very powerful performance.

However it is interesting to me that the standard of woodwind playing has certainly improved significantly in recent times. (though the flutes do sound awesome here).

  • This is the fastest version i've EVER heard!!! IT'S AMAZING!!!!

  • I love it :)

    Ich liebe es :)

  • @EvilKrueger

  • star wars!! XD

  • Whenever I watch this video it makes me thinking of Star Wars...

  • @iGlorfindel

I think it isn't a coincidence. "From the New World" is a very important work of the Amerikan music history and ideal for great composers like John Williams.

  • @iGlorfindel

no wonder, the throne room from episode IV sound very similar^^

  • do you have the 1st mvt?

  • Bravo, Meister Karajan! <3

  • etwas zu schnell, sonst grandios

  • I can only assume "fuoco" is Italian for "sheer awesomeness".

  • @noun12345 We Italians say "fuoco" as the English speech "fire".

  • Einfach inspirierend!

  • makellos, wie immer~

  • This is one of the best performances of the legendary Allegro Con Fuoco by Dvorak I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. One essence often lost is the power of the brass which they bring in spades, and the violin section hits all of their marks with sheer skill. They flow between the movements fairly well, and the conductor seems to be interacting well with his orchestra, which translates into a very powerful and emotional performance.

  • @mogstah "THE CONDUCTOR SEEMS TO BE INTERACTING WELL"???? Geez THAT MAN is HERBERT VON KARAJAN! THE GREATEST CONDUCTOR EVER BORN ON PLANET EARTH!!!! He IS Music!!!!

  • @Kuseikos Woaaah, if Von Karajan were still alive - he'd be signalling for you to piano grazioso - EG: QUIET THE FUCK DOWN AND TURN OFF YOUR CAPS LOCK.

  • omg .. profis .. omg :o

  • Several observers have noticed that Dvorak cited here the adagio of the Schubert Trio op. 100. He actually twisted Schuberts motive slightly and transformed his infinitely sad music into one of joy and optimism. It is breath-taking to hear how small changes can transform a thing completely.

  • It's wonderful. Much better comparing the week performance by Karajan in 1985.

Could you please upload the whole symphony? It would be great!!

  • Yes, I agree...this version is better than the version of VPO in 1985.. More powerful and tension!!

  • Beautiful video! Thank you very much.
