Hi, yeah a beanie (made from start to finish in one go) takes about 4 hours. I usually do one over the course of a week though, whenever I can find the spare time. I find it's a great way to relax and helps put things in perspective.

no shame in crochet... my boyfriend learned the continential stitch just to get me knitting, and i am going to pick up crochet next... was there a certain pattern for this, or did you just make a circle and add on to it?

Yeah you just start by doing a 4 stitch loop, and then you double up on each of those stitches to grow it out into a circle, then you stop doubling up and and just stitch 1 to 1 and you get a mean beanie!
