I loved the video. I am also doing a no heat journey. I would love to do it with you. I have not started making you tube videos yet though. Thank you for the tips.
I'm black a Pueto Rican so I have similar hair as you and I'm going through the same thing, but the only problem is I can't leave the heat alone because this is also the shortest my hairs has ever been and I just don't like the way it look on so I'm trying to get so curly extensions but I don't like too many of them in my hair so I'm pretty lost lol.
I'm going through the same thing with my hair and my hair is almost exactly like yours , but I did something worse to my hair I chemically straighten it. I'm doing natural hair care journey too and looking up information I found out that castor oil really moisturizes and helps grow your hair I leave it in my wet hair 2 a week at night and wash it out the next day my hair is super shiny and soft the next day
I'm with you girl.. I have heat damage myself and I've been doing a hair growth too! I'm thinking about starting YouTube videos on it :) either way my hair has came a long way!
I went to Ricky's yesterday and I bought the Kinky-Curly Knot today & Mixed chicks...I haven't tried them yet because I just did my hair straight. but I'm exited, my hair is like yours...
hiya lovely tutorial my hair were exactly the way you had them before healthy and beautiful. and i am facing the same thing as you, damaged hair by straightening them.
Please give an update that is there any little or more improvement in your hair.by using these products which one's worked the most on your hair.
iam definitely gonna use the products you have suggested.
Been their done that wit the hair dyed now I'm back to black have not straightend my hair since last March and I want it straight but so scared of that heat damage
i have natural curly hair , i wanna grow it super long . but i straighten it so often , i know its damaged. do you think going all natural will help it grow ?
I knew there had to be something weird with mine, everyone I hear talk about coco oil has awesome experience with it but i wasn't impressed, mine was solid in the jar to but it didnt really melt down when it was in my hair. But thanks again i'll look for one similar to the one she had (:
You are beautiful...I love your curly hair...I have long thick curly hair that I have damaged as well...I love that your keeping it natural...try the curly girl method it really works! Check out Waterlily716 she talks all about it and offers great info! Please look into it, I have a feeling your going to love it...you actually look like one of their models Analis..
Hi I love your channel and I have seen all your videos! You and Manny are so cute.
I have a question, I think I have a very similar hair texture to you. I'm Italian mostly. I'm wondering if you could do a video straight out of the shower and show your daily routine? A few times I thought gurus have the same hair as me then I see their hair wet and its practically straight they just scrunch it! I would love to see your routine, it would help me out alot. If you ever get the time! thanks
how do you make your hair curling from the roots of hair and not from the middle ?? your hair looks sooooooo pretty I wish i had it (sorry if you dont understand and tell me if you need me to rephrase, im french ^^) xoxo
@bouteydo thanks! It all depends on hair texture / Patttern hair naturally starts curly from the root to tip but not every curly hair texture has the same pattern so it wont look the same :)
I'm going through the same thing with my curls...... I use the flat iron religiously so I'm going to use your video as a guide!!! Hopefully it works on my hair lol!
Hey there! I did the same thing with my hair, I had it blonde and it was so curly and curled beautifully.Well, then I died it really dark and then shortly after went back blonde. THEN I bought this straightener and it fried my hair to the point my hair would not curl.I had to get alot of it cut off and I still have straight ends but you can tell where its growing out curly again. I decided not to dye my hair for a long time and when I do get it clolored again I am getting it professionally done.
My heart goes out to your beautiful hair, i hate u had to cut it :-( I did the same to mine trying to achieve a caramel brown color in my hair and have decided hair die is the devil! Lol I can understand why you want to swear off flat irons, I don't use them myself very often maybe 4 or 5 times a year, but when I do I use extra virgin olive oil before flat ironing. It really helps protect from the heat and keeps it straighter longer, maybe you could try it next time you work up enough courage t
@GabbiXLuvsXYou I've also tried the mixed chicks shampoo, conditioner, and leave in conditioner. I've also used the Carols Daughter hair milk and healthy hair butter, but my hair was so big then :P
I wish my hair looked like that :P I'm black and Nicaraguan and my natural hair is so thick it's ridiculous :P Plus I've been straightening it so much, I straightened it today and now it's so rough I don't know what to do with it -____- >.< I want to go natural, but I'm scared of how it will look :P Any suggestions anyone? :)
Aphogee 2-step is amazing! You have to try it! I have curly hair, dye it blonde, and heat style with ceramic flat iron. While using Aphogee, my hair grew it's longest, even though I was coloring every month. I stopped using it for a about a year and noticed a huge difference- experienced breakage, hair became shorter, etc. I have to warn you it kind of smells like cat pee, lol, but it's worth it. =)
Your hair is gorgeous and so are you! You remind me so much of Rihanna!
i used to have curly hair just like u..but i dont know what happend to it. its still curly but in my ends its straigh and my bangs is staight..i have never colored my hair...u think its because of heat? or should i cut the ends of my hair
wholesalewigsonline. c o m highly recommend..i was impressed by the quick delivery of my hair, the staff was nice and professional and when i got it the hair was beautiful! I personally purchased a lot of real human hair extensions and wigs from wholesalewigsonline. c o m i got my hair so fast and it is absolutely the softest, most beautiful hair i have ever seen it is always smooth and delightful, this hair is amazing!
Hey, Alba. =) How long did you hair stay like that (the way it is in the video) after you did it? I just did mine using most of your recommend products, and it looked great for a while. ^_^ But eventually, it started poofing up too much for my liking. Was it because I didn't use enough product? Any ideas? Suggestions?
Alba, where did you find the little Dr. Bronners magic soap?! Was it also at the whole food store because i've been searching for that everywhere, I'm also here in N.Y. and I can never seem to find that travel size :(
I'm so glad you're not straightening anymore! I used to straighten every day and in the end, my hair got so dry, it just wouldnt stay straight! so i went to my hair dresser and he chopped my dead ends off and I'm never straightening again. I can't wait for your styles to come out!
I loved your video, it helped a lot. I just made a video on heat damage and how to avoid it so you may still straighten your hair without the damage! Check it out :) btw you are stunning
i love your hair.....my hair is similar to yours but my hair is damaged at the ends and its the same length as yours when its curly.....i dont want to cut it,but if i do will it help my hair???
Your hair is so beautiful. And all of your videos are super inspiring. My question is, did you cut your hair yourself? Or by a professional? Because my ends won't curl anymore; just as you described, so I'm thinking of cutting my hair too. I want my natural curls back, which are really similar to yours :) Please respond; gracias :)
Your gorgeous I love your hair! Have you ever used silicone mix conditioner . I'm so glad you spoke about eat damage, I see this as the main reason a lot of my clients never seem to be able to grow there hair! Also jojoba oil will be mazing for yor hair
Thanks this really helped, I'm Dominican so I have curly hair like you:) I would like to know if you use gel or mousse for your curls. Could you please do a curly hair routine? Love ya! -3
@AllThatSparkles15 Thanks! I am absolutely against Gel or mousse because most of them contain allot of Alcohol and chemicals that only dry my hair and add no moisture or nutrition for me which will only add to the damage I already have. I use to use gel and mousse during my teenage years and now I see the difference. I am doing a hair routine tutorial soon. :) Hope this helped
@AllThatSparkles15 Also I forgot to say Some Gels are not so bad because they are not so harsh like the Kinky Curly custard but I don't Have it or use it but maybe ill give it a try in the future :)
Actually Kinky curly is all natural, no alcohol yes it can get crunchy but overall I think it's better for the health of my hair than eco styler. Even though eco styler is the bomb.com
About time we got a Latin beauty guru from up top representing!!! You go mama!! You're beautiful, and love that you have naturally curly hair like me!!! :)
Oh my freaking god you're freaking gorgeous!!!!!!!!! And the 2 min rec is much milder than the green tea leave in spray and the heavy weights of protein the 2 step treatment. If you think you need something stronger try the green tea before using the 2 step b/c it is intense and can be hard to replenish the moisture lost from that kind of intense treatment in the event your hair wasn't damaged enough to benefit from it. Which you hair doesn't seem to be.
I went thru the same thing. Deep conditioning every week is the key to get it back. I got most of mine to revert without chopping any off. Protein treatments, mix them with honey and olive oil. So far thats the best trick thats been working for me.
you should do a video on how you cut your hair yourself , it would be super helpful! Also,Clairol's Natural Instincts hair color is ammonia free and only semi-permanent so it won't damage your hair and the color naturally fades over about 2 months, that's what I use and I don't notice any damage, but I only use it about once a year<3
I am sooooooooooooooo excite you will be doing tutorials on different styles for curly hair. You have no idea how much I am looking forward to upcoming videos. I just recently, about a month ago cut my hair to about the length you have it & have no idea what to do with it lol. I am also trynna get my hair to nice curls because right now they are looking kinda stringy -_- Keep doing awsome videos. I love them all!!
Be careful. Aphogee can end up damaging your hair even more. I saw youtube videos on it when I was relaxed and bought it as a last resort before having to cut my hair off and go natural. I ended up wasting money. I stopped using it. Maybe it was too much protein or something idk. Perhaps using every 2 weeks or every other week for people would help. Look up Ateyaaa Aphogee hair regimen. Aphogee works for her.
You make me so proud to have curly hair! My hair was also damaged from straightening it so much. I thought straight hair was more accepted and that everyone's definition of beauty was long straight hair. But thanks to you, I am so proud to wear my hair curly again! You are such a beautiful inspiration! Thank you! :)
OMG! After i Saw This I Was Looking at How Badly Dammaged my Curls Were Too and Wanted my curls Back as well I went and Got it Chop off So Ill Be On The Hair Journey As Well!
After watching this video I grabbed a pair of scissors and went to work. I have so much heat damage its ridiculous. My hair was at bra strap length now its at my shoulders -_-. I don't want to use heat anymore but if I do then I will be extra protective. Hopefully I'll get my natural curl back in no time
Omg ur hair is gorgeous !!! Can I recommend the Macadamia natural oil-deep repair masque and the Selerm- silk protein leave in. After I use the aphogee 2step that literally changed my hair for the best and the 2min keratin treatment these products have become my best friend! I luv ur channel thanks for the advise and rolos are the best and safest way worth the wait .
I'm soo glad you're not going to use hair irons anymore! I used to have hair like yours and during high school I straightened it sooo much that my hair is now damaged and doesn't have any curls anymore. :( My hair lost it's shape.
Thank you for the tips:) i also damaged my hair with heat over the year when i didnt needed it at all! And it damaged all of my curls, made my hair thinner and fragile, so im working on it to grow it healtier and longer and i limited heat to 2 times a month to a lower setting,i will defenitly visit your blog for all those products:)
omg i dyed my hair red too and it totally damaged my hair ! my curls arent as good... i have the inverted bob style and my curls look dead. so i decided to dye it back to dark brown my original color and never dye it again... now i need a hair trim to cut off the dead ends and refresh my curls ! LOL <3 this tutorial
Aphogee is amazing I swear by the 2 min reconstructor. I had a lot of damage to my curls from flat ironing and now you cannot tell at all. I swear by aphogee and say no to the flat iron and keep it curly as much as possible :)
Thank you so very much! Your so wonderful!! ^^ I've been waiting for a naturally curly hair vid like this forever! Your hair looks very beautiful by the way and I too have been wearing my hair out natural since there has been 3 or 4 years before that I've had my hair straight. I'm liking being natural but I want it to grow out more and become more healthier looking and thanks to you I feel that is very possible to achieve it! Your such a beautiful person and I thank you very much for this vid!
oh also i strongly suggest u to start taking a multivitamin! i took one everyday in the summer and my hair grew no lie like 3 inches! its also way thicker than before
your curls look so beautiful! im in the process of growing my natural curls out because i relaxed my hair (like a dummy) and now i cant wear it naturally curly because the ends of my hair are pin straight! so i plan to cut an inch of my hair off every 4 months because there is no way i can do a "big chop"! thanks for the advice in this video :D
Don't feel bad...my hair is not really at the healthiest state right now either but just keep treating it, and deep conditioning and keeping the heat off it. It'll come right back.= )
Can you show us ur routine after the shower ? As u said ... U braid and tie it up..... I'm trying to get my natural curls back... And I read somewhere After shower add leave on conditioner ....and divide it into sections then curl small sections and leave to dry.... This technique makes more define curls like curling irons .... I want something natural like yours....thank u for your great videos ...
One thing Ive learned is tht you dont necesarilly have to cut your hair bc you have straight pieces.. i know it looks kinda ugly that way but if you treat it over the course of about 2 or 3 months it will revert back alot and then you can see what really needs to be cut... thats just a tip for the furture. your hair looks good btw.
Amazing!! I use that coconut oil too! been using it for 3 years now... just DO NOT GET IT ON YOUR FACE! You WILL break out bad.... just an fyi! wouldnt want that to mess up ur beautiful skin! PLEASE keep the videos coming! one of my besties and i were soooo looking forward to you coming back with videos! :)
Did you cut it yourself ? I use to straighten my hair all the time now I really regret cause I lost a lot of texture because of that :/ To all the curly girls out there : NEVER USE THAT FLAT IRON ON YOUR BEAUTIFUL CURLS ! Talking from experience :) Good luck for you hair recovery
Omg, I hate that Aphogee shampoo. My hair texture is very similar to yours and that shampoo ruined my hair. It took about 5 weeks after about 2 months of use for my hair to recover. It made my hair dry, brittle, and it damaged my ends. My hair would constantly break off and that shampoo was suppose to prevent it....wtf?!
@havefaith89 Do you have coarse hair? I think Aphogee has protein in it, it sounds like your hair is protein sensitive, mine is as well. When I had protein overloads, Id shampoo with a sulfate shampoo, then deep condition (with honey & olive oil), and regular condition every day with Suave Naturals (protein free and cheap) until my hair felt moisturized again. it usually took 2 or 3 days. Too much protein can coat the hair and prevent moisture from entering, making it dry and brittle..
Not really, my hair texture is very similar to SunKissAlba. I have been using Aphogee two step protein treatment and the regular protein treatment for years with no problem. I forgot to mention, that shampooo also ruined my scalp, I actually developed sores from it
I'm so happy you're going to go natural. My hair is like yours and Its usually curly but I find it so hard to do hairstyles in it when it's curly so I'm really looking forward to your hairstyle videos
Your hair looks great, i like the shorter look aswell. Could you please do a tutorial on how you sleep with your curls during the night. I dont like to wash my hair evryday cuz i think that i will strip away it's natural oil, however in the morning i have to do alot to revive the curls again. I would realy appreciate it :-)
@chickme25 thats a good idea for a video!! i have curly hair and I wash it twice a week (wed n SUn) i feel just like you on washing the hair everyday. hopefully she does a video on mornig hair but im sure everyone with curls have the same issue in the morning!!
@chickme25 The best thing you can do is sleep with a satin bonnet, scarf, or some kind of protection. I have really long/curly hair and I sleep with a "socloc" (you can google it) and it keeps my curls pretty for a few days without shrinking them.
i straightened and blow dried my hair every day for two years and thank god i've stopped! one year heat-free and my curls can finally breathe and are looking fab :)
OMG thank you for this video! I have curly hair like yours but due to straightening it too much the curls aren't even defined anymore and my hair is so frizzy :( I'm going to get a haircut tomorrow to begin this journey to natural beautiful curls!! Thanks again for this!
i agree and your video helped me make a decision. my hair is almost to my tailbone. im blk hispanic mixed. your hair and mine are literally twins. well about the bottom 5" are split, damaged, don't stay curly now either as i quit using heat about a year ago... my husband don't want me to cut it but going curly i can't hide it. im just so used to having hair all the way down my back its hard to make that move... guess i gotta do it. God bless. you look beautiful!
How do you do your hair doing the winter ? I have naturally curly hair that looks like yours but i don't want to go out in the morning with it wet when its cold because i might get sick. Do you have anything you do with your hair ? Thanks love your videos.
Coconut oil is the TRUTH!!! Aphogee's 2 part protein treatment is AMAZING!! Love both! You are on the right track, girl even though you and your hair still looks FABULOUS! Keep the videos coming! ^_^
I'm so glad you are going to be doing more videos for us curly girls! I hate that you had damage but I'm glad you are going to show us more things to do for those of us who choose to embrace our curls!
The same thing happened to me! my hair lost all the curl in the front and kept all the curl in the back. It took about eight months to get MOST of my curls back after I cut 4 inches off. Now, I only straighten my hair every other month as opposed to keeping it straight for months at a time:)
Please do a "How I do my curls Tutorial"...it always helps me more when I actually see the ROUTINE as you do it...I love the reviews, but seeing the product being applied really helps me!...:)
Coconut oil melts in heat. It can be stored in the refrigerator and the cold will solidify it. That way you can use the amount you'd like by emulsifying it in your hand without the mess!
yes gurl...know all about the coconut oil...i stopped using regular body lotions now i use either coconut oil or grapeseed oil...lately i've just been using grapeseed oil...but natural oils are all day gurl.!!
u look beautiful mama...i straighten my hair like once a year, if that...dang.. the last time i blowdried my hair, was last october...i like wearing my hair natural...love my curls..and u have gawjess curls girl..don't know y u hide then...
Threw that old ass flat iron out! Use a flat iron that give moisture (water) to the hair. I use the Maxiglide for yrs but I dont straighten my hair alot. I found a good deep and natural conditioner that works! One Avacado, 1/2 cup of EVOO. one egg and a few drops of Lavender for smell and WOW It's only enough for one head of hair.. I loved it and it did wonders for my MBL natural hair. I do henna once a month too! Also, I only use all natural products on my hair! No cones, etc. It's cheaper too!
@mattiesmith1 I have a Maxiglide too and I love it especially when I use the steamer with it...and I also use the Caruso Curlers which set your hair with steam and it really makes my hair Soft!....:)
I live in germany, my dad is afro american and my mum german, so my hair is mixed too *haha used to have so much more curls back in the days....they seam to get more straight every day...and here in germany nobody has a clue :/ I don't know if i could use ur products because i believe ur curls are different then mine..when i was young i didnt like my curls, now i miss them so much
@ALittleGirlBigWorld I'm mixed too...My Mom is French and my Dad Afro American...read the CurlyGirl book by Lorraine Massey...it'll change your life..you can buy it on Amazon.com for about $8 american dollars...You WONT be sorry...Plz check it out...it's changed my life and my curls are coming back....:)
@vtgreeley1 oh thank you so much :) i found something on the internet based on that book :) omg i think i have done everything wrong that u can do *ahhh going to change that! thanks again!
so happy i found your channel, you are so beautiful&i love ur curls.i have curls myself but not that nice anymore..what i dont understand.i normally dont blow-dry my hair&didn't do any straightning...now i do straightening but thats not what i want to say ;)
First off, I love your vids and blog...keep up the good work :-)!! Also I damaged my hair before with heat and constantly lifting my hair color for highlights :-( . Finally I found a great stylist and I get weekly or bi-weekly steam treatments for my hair!! They are the best and you will notice the difference in your hair immediately. PLEASE find a stylist who offers steam treatments (my favorites are protein and milk treatments!!)...I'm serious they are amazing.
man, your hair reminds me so much of mine. It looks beautiful how it is right now. I use a lot of heat in my hair too and this has encouraged me to use more caution with that. I wish you the best in your curly hair rejuvination journey, from one curly to the next! hehe
Tu es très jolie ;-)

I wish my hair looked like that :P I'm black and Nicaraguan and my natural hair is so thick it's ridiculous :P Plus I've been straightening it so much, I straightened it today and now it's so rough I don't know what to do with it -____- >.< I want to go natural, but I'm scared of how it will look :P Any suggestions anyone? :)

i have hair like yours but i keep it permed. would letting it grow up without cutting off perm/ dead ends damage my hair?

Hey, Alba. =) How long did you hair stay like that (the way it is in the video) after you did it? I just did mine using most of your recommend products, and it looked great for a while. ^_^ But eventually, it started poofing up too much for my liking. Was it because I didn't use enough product? Any ideas? Suggestions?

Do you know how to use rollers? Because its less stress on your hair. I do rollos once a week and just flatiron the roots to give it some bounce.

@114fayefaye Yes. Just trim/cut the damaged parts. Besides, your hair will look a LOT better if it's healthy. =) Good luck!

GlamLocksExtensions 2 months ago
Thanks this really helped, I'm Dominican so I have curly hair like you:) I would like to know if you use gel or mousse for your curls. Could you please do a curly hair routine? Love ya! -3
AllThatSparkles15 2 months ago 8
@AllThatSparkles15 Thanks! I am absolutely against Gel or mousse because most of them contain allot of Alcohol and chemicals that only dry my hair and add no moisture or nutrition for me which will only add to the damage I already have. I use to use gel and mousse during my teenage years and now I see the difference. I am doing a hair routine tutorial soon. :) Hope this helped
SunKissAlba 2 months ago
@AllThatSparkles15 Also I forgot to say Some Gels are not so bad because they are not so harsh like the Kinky Curly custard but I don't Have it or use it but maybe ill give it a try in the future :)
SunKissAlba 2 months ago
@SunKissAlba
Actually Kinky curly is all natural, no alcohol yes it can get crunchy but overall I think it's better for the health of my hair than eco styler. Even though eco styler is the bomb.com
Can't wait for some cute protective styles
BTW your hair is still gorgeous.

Which you hair doesn't seem to be.
nikknikk19 2 months ago
You're forgetting argan oil which is best for curly hair . & Those products are still bad for you . You need to just use a conditioner as a shampoo .
SmoochieBaybee15 2 months ago
I went thru the same thing. Deep conditioning every week is the key to get it back. I got most of mine to revert without chopping any off. Protein treatments, mix them with honey and olive oil. So far thats the best trick thats been working for me.

You gotta try eggs, honey and mayonaise mixture...I use that when I feel my curls are looking too droopy or loose...it REALLY works!!!!
angeliclovekis13 2 months ago
you should do a video on how you cut your hair yourself , it would be super helpful! Also,Clairol's Natural Instincts hair color is ammonia free and only semi-permanent so it won't damage your hair and the color naturally fades over about 2 months, that's what I use and I don't notice any damage, but I only use it about once a year<3

Thank you so very much! Your so wonderful!! ^^ I've been waiting for a naturally curly hair vid like this forever! Your hair looks very beautiful by the way and I too have been wearing my hair out natural since there has been 3 or 4 years before that I've had my hair straight. I want something natural like yours....thank u for your great videos ...
enassarrad 3 months ago
One thing Ive learned is tht you dont necesarilly have to cut your hair bc you have straight pieces.. i know it looks kinda ugly that way but if you treat it over the course of about 2 or 3 months it will revert back alot and then you can see what really needs to be cut... thats just a tip for the furture. your hair looks good btw.

I hate that I ever put heat to my natural wavy hair!
allynn21 3 months ago
Omg, I hate that Aphogee shampoo. My hair texture is very similar to yours and that shampoo ruined my hair. It took about 5 weeks after about 2 months of use for my hair to recover. It made my hair dry, brittle, and it damaged my ends. My hair would constantly break off and that shampoo was suppose to prevent it....wtf?!
havefaith89 3 months ago
@havefaith89 Do you have coarse hair? I think Aphogee has protein in it, it sounds like your hair is protein sensitive, mine is as well. When I had protein overloads, Id shampoo with a sulfate shampoo, then deep condition (with honey & olive oil), and regular condition every day with Suave Naturals (protein free and cheap) until my hair felt moisturized again. it usually took 2 or 3 days. Too much protein can coat the hair and prevent moisture from entering, making it dry and brittle..
Stormy1958 3 months ago
@Stormy1958
Not really, my hair texture is very similar to SunKissAlba. I have been using Aphogee two step protein treatment and the regular protein treatment for years with no problem. I forgot to mention, that shampooo also ruined my scalp, I actually developed sores from it

@Alba its not just the flat ironing. Its the dye that caused some the straightness so be careful of dying it.

Your hair looks great, i like the shorter look aswell. Could you please do a tutorial on how you sleep with your curls during the night. @chickme25 thats a good idea for a video!! i have curly hair and I wash it twice a week (wed n SUn) i feel just like you on washing the hair everyday. hopefully she does a video on mornig hair but im sure everyone with curls have the same issue in the morning!!
Grrr3tchhh 3 months ago
@chickme25 The best thing you can do is sleep with a satin bonnet, scarf, or some kind of protection. I have really long/curly hair and I sleep with a "socloc" (you can google it) and it keeps my curls pretty for a few days without shrinking them.
