Ive have owned every year except the 66, 67, 71, the 68 - 70s were and still are the favs and most popular, but i currently own two 73s and gta say the charger went way up in performance and ride etc after 70, i draw the line at the 75s and the newer 4 doors, and the 80s k car charger was a joke, at least to me, had a 68 440 rt and traded it for a motorcycle strait up, damn i shoulda been pistol whipped!!!! never gna part with my 73s i presently own, gna be buried with me!!! mopar or nocar!!
@curtknows101 I think you should drive a new Charger, it might change your mind. I love mine. Absolutely Love the Car. Other than four doors, it's got the feel of something special, like a Charger feeling to it. Its down right sinister too, Mustangs are for good guys.....Chargers are for Bad Guys!
@OsbornTramain I hear you, i should drive a new one because i havent, and with that im flying blind except to say, four doors, damn, not knocking on your car at all, and ive heard great things about them, especially the police interceptors!! just two to many doors for me, i feel the same way about the newer 4 door trucks, mopar or nocar!!!! 8-D
Meh - the Chargers went downhill on styling after '70 and in power after '71, when the R/T and Super Bee disappeared. By '74, the Charger was little more than a 2-door Coronet. And the less said about the '75-'78 Cordoba Chargers, the better.
I really like the 1971-72 Charger's a lot and they are often underappreciated and overlooked in favor of the 1968-70 Charger's, 1972 was IMO the last great year of the classic Charger's.
@zoomping1 Chrysler's and AMC muscle cars thru 74 were still pretty potent. GM is the one that cut back the compression ratios and detuned things. Ford didn't do it as much as GM did in 73.but did detune a bit. I think 74 is the last year
Damn, Dodge HAD me... and I thought Sugar Daddy was about to take hired gal out in his Charger and..... then *swipe* Junior steps into the picture.... I better go buy that car now - It's COOL.....
@hamtrak lol... Personally, I prefer this model over the '69 Charger. The only thing is that this was around the time auto quality took a bit of a dive, so... Who knows. I just think the longer front end on this model makes it look more badass than the late '60s models (which in and of themselves are awesome)
@halo9449 I used to prefer the '68, but as I get older I like the '71 more as well. The late sixties had lots of build quality issues as well. It was also much roomier inside and the driving position was much better.

@curtknows101 But I do agree with you on the Charger 75 thru 78 and the mid 80's Omni 024 version....they aren't Chargers in spirit, only in name.

No wonder Dodge is in the crapper! making cars like that 37 years ago put them on the road to ruin.

yeah, it's not like the current world financial crisis has had any real effect on Chrysler Corp. Or the 10 years of Daimler management.

@mustangcharger1 Damn, you've had a chance to drive one? You're so lucky. I'm still hoping to get my chance someday...

@mickeymoose76 Yeah, but still looks a lot better than the Challenger that they make in the 21st century.
