I dual boot Windows Vista and Ubuntu, both are amazing.

I wasn't very fond of the startup sound (or any of them really) on Vista, so I changed it to the old beta (Longhorn) sound pack.

I installed ubuntu Maverick Meerkat (10.10) on a virtual machine, listening to this sound brought back so many memmories, I miss this sound. Now I'm using 11.10. :\

@GovGoose bad choice ubuntu 11.10 uses unity or gnome 3. i downloaded 10.04 and 8.04 :)

@dangermano0 I have both Windows 7 AND lubuntu. It's called having partitions/dual boot.

I use Windows for gaming and lubuntu for everything else.

@dangermano0 There's workarounds to get Steam and games to work on Ubuntu. Some of them work perfectly, some of them have a few bugs/problems, and some of them don't work at all.

I just avoid that and have a Windows partition for gaming.

There are games that naturally support Linux though (like the games from the Humble Bundle packs).

@the747videoer I don't think so. I especially don't like the start sound in Windows Vista / 7. It's boring. I think that that one from Ubuntu is somewhat special... But the startup sounds are not really the important things in Operating Systems, and if you don't like them, you can change them.

@the747videoer Wrong, at least in my opinion. I have two laptops. One with 7 and one running Ubuntu 10.10. I like the 7 sound better than the Ubuntu sound, but the Ubuntu sound kicks all other Windows (and Mac for sure) OS' rear speakers... with Windows 95 being the exception, of course.
