Props to Dengue Fever for bringing this sound to LA and America in general, but the sound is definitely Cambodian psychedelic rock. If you knew anything about Cambodia or how this band formed, you'd know this music was POPularized in Cambodia during the 1960's and perhaps you wouldn't have been so disinclined to kings2009's description . But hey, either way--any genre--this music is great!

If you decide to find Sreynich's childhood videos you will see that she IS the true prodigy to Khmer's musical past. That is just my opinion at that. Maybe I was raised too old fashioned, but I appreciate your opinion.

Ros was originally one of the 1st popular female Khmer vocalists, but she wasn't the 1st female Khmer vocalist. Sin Sisamuth doesn't fit into this conversation. My argument isn't opposing Khmer's classical vocalists, my argument was simply a statement of my opinion that Sreynich's voice emcompasses the voices of the past & the future.
