Does "super" mean that it's also nuclear powered?

@ChicaWolverina Pretty much so, the ten Nimitz class carriers each have two nuclear powered engines, and are a little larger than the previous class carrier (among other specs). The "super" part is something I see in the media (such as the discovery and military channel). I've never heard Navy personnel actually use the term.

awsome i would love t have a chance to serve on a nimitz class carrier.im 30 though and probably to old, plus im english and dont think we have any carriers left. in the royal navy.

@steve1mufc I think the HMS Illustrious Is still in commision. Not as large as the Nimitz class but still a great carrier. I think the Illustrious is around 25000 tons displacement. The Nimitz class is somewhere in the 100000 ton range(I think).

@SuperboyConnerKent in all honesty, it is possible. If you come here from Romania, and become a legal citizen, then you can. You are young enough, 21, and if you are healthy, go for it! We need people here who know respect, who come here legally, and not illegally, scoffing and complaining. Someone like you who has seen great oppression can become great here - you apparently understand and respect the very high cost of freedom. Illegals here are from place very very deeply corrupted by drugs.

how come some times they deploy with the carrier air wing on deck, and sometimes they dont?

MacTech303 - good question.

The Nimitz deployment seen in this video which has the air wing on deck is a very rare site in San Diego.. They had been out on training off the San Diego coast days immediately before this, and the air wing flew in then. Otherwise, the carriers are always well on their way and far off the coast when the air wing flies in from various bases, such as Lemoore.
