Layne's voice was really fucked up at this concert after singing in so many nights in a row. But it still sounds great! He was fucking amazing that man!
puta merda cara(farcdrack)que show,congratulations...eles vão voltar aki no SWU desse ano...mesmo sem o Layne Stanley vale a pena ver...see you em Paulinia...
Alice in Chains is probably the most sincere and passionate band to ever play music. Every time I hear one of their songs I either cry, bang my head, or smile right along with them.
wow layne lost his voice couldnt even sing "if i would..could you"? but still he comes back to sing as the great one. if ya smell lelelelelle what the layne is sayin.
@MsBrit78 idk about that man. They both were great and IMO not comparable besides the raspy aspect haha. Layne Cobain Cornell and Vedder all have/had great voices. Shit even Jerry has an amazing voice. Most talented out of all them IMO would have to be Cornell, but love em all.
@SludgePunkGrunge Layne was certainly better than Cornell, purely down to consistency, one night Cornell could blow everyone out the water with an amazing voice, the next he could be sloppy as hell... Layne was consistently brilliant, and that matters alot.
@danathor99 But couldn't You say the same about Layne with his drug abuse issues? Sometimes He wouldn't even tour because of it I'm not bias for either as I think both are great bands that shouldn't be compared because even though similar it's still completely different music it's only ever compared because the record labels made it that way when they came out with the word 'Grunge' to sell off the music in a package.
Don't get Me wrong but I'd prefer to see the singer tour regardless of vocals
@unplannedautopsy That is a perfectly fair comment man, but i was just comparing from a performance aspect. as amazing as Cornell's vocals are, especially his range, there are other people out there who can sing like that, Staley on the other hand had that special something, the man could really connect with you through his voice, and you could really feel his emotions through it, he just had that "X factor", something that comes along just once in a generation or two of music.
@danathor99 You've got a good point Man and I completely agree with You there, He definitely had something and I hate to compare but I feel The same about Kurt Cobain, They both just have a really similar soul in my eyes.
@danathor99 I agree but it does seem that by 1993 or so Layne was loosing vocal strength. Being the brilliant pro that he was, he worked around it and developed nuances and the vocal texture of his middle range. Smoking never helps. Ian Gillan from DP (one of the best voices of his era) had the same problem and lost his gorgeous "caramel" vocal quality around 30. His Black Sabbath stuff is awful (in my opinion).

Dammit! I knew, I just knew they wouldn't show Sean Kinney's killer fill at 3:22.... Damn... Great performance though! I NEVER thought I'd say this, but I miss the early 90's era rock.
Can You Imagine if this Concert was Like The Moscow Music Peace Festival, and At the End Of the Show All the bands Got on Stage and Did ONE SONG TOGETHER> That would have been EPIC!!!!!!!!
you can feel andrew woods energy being channeled through laynes voice, its as if jerry was preaching his anger and frustration towards andrew in the lyrics for causing his death by ODing on heroin. and at 0:55 layne is entirley consumed by andrew and resorts to screaming his plea for understanding, but jerry is not convinced. It is truly the most powerful song ever written.
@symptom1555 thanks mate, well now that i think of it this song has pretty much a double meaning now that layne and andrew wood are both deceased due to drug overdose. theres some sort of new energy when its performed from present day AIC, not as much from duvall but a look in the band members's eyes when they do this song, that rite there is the band's max energy. but the real miracle is that the song is still performed by AIC. i dont think the world can last without these songs being performed.
@SythDarKProductions gotta disagree, jerry's frustration that is expressed in this song is for the people who judged andrew, and people like that etc etc. he wasnt angry with wood at all for it.
brother things are not so first with Kurt Cobain Layne Staley
and we give justin biber hana montana jonas brother demi lovato

@1obey2your3master4 ....i have no idea what that means....but something tells me if layne were to ever sell weed to justin beiber.......hed get the money n never give him the pot ;)
And bichslaped his face back to were the fuck it came...
But tbh i can see Layne's name along with justing "takes in the ass" beiber together at the same text... not even on the twilight zone.... unless its bullshit!
according to mike starr, after this performance, Layne shot him up, then he shot up with Kurt and Courtney, then went back to laynes room and Layne shot him up again, which killed him for 11 minutes. after that, Jerry and Sean kicked him out.
Love this performance so much!! Layne is really showing his emotion in this one so strongly!! He always does, but looks like he felt really bad this time....
