@0535281 When you are hit in your steer tires, it pushes the axle to one side, once that happens, it is almost impossible to stop the movement of 80000lbs, a lot like when a steer tire blows. Until you drive one, you just can not relate.

@patlescard66 A steer tire is the tires that "steer" your vehicle. On trucks you have steer tires, drive tires and tandems. Since most car now a days are front wheel drive the steer and drive tires are the same. On trucks, drive tires are the 2 axles in the middle. Tandems are trailer tires.

but, if the linkage was not broken/bent, then the truck driver was at fault for not keeping a good grip on the steering wheel which allowed the little car to force him to "make a left". can't really make out what angle the left front wheel is at in the moments before he hit the divider

I have seen hundred of truck crashes and that barrier is WAY too low. They need a Jersey-wall or Ontario-tall-wall there because that central barrier just doesn't cut it and I'm sure that truck driver crapped himself when he realized he had hopped it!

This video is another example of why every driver should have a PomCam car video recorder system. If there was no video of this accident, all sorts of statements would have been made, everything from some driver cut off the trucker, to saying the 4 wheeler was at fault. hard to tell but it may be the car's impact broke the tie rod on the right side and turned the tire inwards so the truck made a left turn
not much the driver of the truck could do in that situation...
but, if the linkage was not broken/bent, then the truck driver was at fault for not keeping a good grip on the steering wheel which allowed the little car to force him to "make a left". can't really make out what angle the left front wheel is at in the moments before he hit the divider

OMG! I drove 18 wheelers for 10 yrs and I don't know how a car made him flip! Even empty a tractor trailer combo weighs 20,500-30.000 verses a car that weighs 2,500-5,000 empty. The driver of that car must have been drunk!

I have seen hundred of truck crashes and that barrier is WAY too low. They need a Jersey-wall or Ontario-tall-wall there because that central barrier just doesn't cut it and I'm sure that truck driver crapped himself when he realized he had hopped it!
Whatever the case, that car which created the whole mess (good driving on the truckers behalf) is in a LOT of trouble!

This video is another example of why every driver should have a PomCam car video recorder system. If there was no video of this accident, all sorts of statements would have been made, everything from some driver cut off the trucker, to saying the 4 wheeler was at fault. Thank heavens this driver has video proof. We purchased the PomCam for our vehicles. Peopel, protect yourself from false claims before it's too late.

Yes, the car jammed into the worst spot possible for the truck (the front steering wheel well) preventing the truck driver from steering at all. Impossible for the truck driver to correct....only hold on and wish for the best. It's amazing noone was killed.

FYI: When the car hit, the wheel was jammed to the left, steering components could have failed. With a car shoved against the axle, the driver has NO steering. Don't believe this? Park your car next to the curb and turn the wheel. Good luck. The driver didn't try to avoid it, rear my first sentence. Just watch the vid you can see the car in contact with the truck the entire time it goes into the wall. Thank God YouTuber's aren't jurors, just arm chair quarterbacks making retarded comments. FAIL.
