  • Always a great drill, your sifu definitely looks like he knows what he's doing.

  • that's about the same sensitivity training as with iron bar , maybe a little better . i have a real good sensitivity training technique for some money. : )

  • gr8 vid!!! Luv the flow!!! JKD Concepts at its best.

  • Good stuff man. Great drill.

  • Awesome! I just started a Filipino Martial Arts class and learned a bit of this. It's a total blast. Awesome video! It's inspired me to continue :)

  • I saw some hubud and Dan Chi Sao....and some things that i didnt learn the names of...very nice!

  • @makaiev well it is similar but it is not. I've studied some wing chun and currently learning Kali. Because the guys drilling the hubad come from inosantos style (not aware of other backgrounds of Kali) i believe that some influence from jkd is in it. But I have noticed the hubad has some similar movements used in chi sao

  • not trying to compare here, but as I never trained kali seem it like this kinda looks like wing tchung (ving tsun)

  • I like seeing the differences between Wing Chun and Filipino/Indonesian systems. The first controls the centerline of the opponent, while the other likes to avoid the opponents centerline.

  • Oh, how I love to watch skill like this! Very inspiring. Thank you for posting.

  • great example of continuous motion and of sensitivity !!

  • I find it so interesting to see a drill like Hubud used in the exact same sense that you might see Chi Sao used. Of course both are drills meant to develop sensitivity and flow but I had never seen this type of Hubud sparring before. Truly magnificent.

  • nice job! any dvd format with these drills slower with explanation?

  • this is a halo-halo special that comes from great men of martial arts, i salute dan inosanto and bruce lee for this.

  • nice flow..... diggin it.

  • @theawakener7 How is it destroyed?

  • im so sorry for telling this but some pipol demonstrate wing chun/taichi/baguazhang and pull it off as panuntukan..if you guys saw panuntukan the real panuntukan or pangamut here in the philippines your eyes would be opened..and realize the real thing..

  • LaCostakali, eres EXCELENTE, GRACIAS por este video.

    Saludos desde Argentina.

  • What does Hubud mean?

  • it means pull...

  • @jesuskopp

hubud means to undress, strip and not pull!hugutin means to pull.

  • Excellent clip!

  • I love it. You have these fat clowns who apperently well versed in Book JKD. Run around trashing everyone else. Then you see their vids. This stuff looks first rate. Keep up the good work guys.

  • Good flows, guys. Crisp and smooth. You're both a credit to Guro Inosanto.

  • Thank you for your comments PendakarBobbe, sincerely !

  • this looks like wing chun

  • Very cool.. I'd love to learn this..

  • 1st move on the Hubud -Bong Sau, then it is Biu and then Pak (just tot give them some general Wing Chun terms. Note at the very first one it is deflection that can accompany simultaneous strike - so too with 2nd and 3rd.

Note also the three moves can be done inside 0.1 - that is less than your average cross.

Read closer. don't just refute! Bruce Lee and Dan Inosanto didn't develop so many flow drills to such a high level for nothing!

  • i think half the problem is people see this and take it literally. its just a drill afterall. but then again, you want to be a fighting expert, not a drill expert. so you can over do it as well i think.

  • Oh how I hate the term 'patty cake'!!!! I sounds so gay! I think it is bad to use the term. By doing so it just refutes everything that it is applied to. FMA people and Wing Chun people will know that flow drills whether they are Hubud or not are the highest skill training methods available in Martial Arts. People like Bruce Lee and Dan Innosanto have practiced these flow drills to a very high level. It is these drills that give you the edge. Study them. Investigate them instead!!

    :)

  • if you think that then you have to broaden your understanding....think before you make such stupid comments...

  • Comment removed

  • I use to think the same until I began to study Pekiti Tersia Kali. And I come out of the EMBAS Wing Tzun school! The main purpose is to build sensitivity, increase muscle memory and reaction speed, and the most important aspect: increase mental focus. Martial arts is about the esoteric (developing the inner self). So try it out first. Even professional boxers learn similar parries, slips, jukes, fakes, and hand movements especially in the streetboxing camp of 52 Blocks.

  • Utter bull.

  • At the 1st shape (Bong) we can already attack using Lap Sau, collapse Bong with Biu for instance

With the second shape you can go straight to the eyes with a Snake style Biu to the eyes and the final shape can be Pak Da or Pak into Gum (pinning) and strike with other hand.

For sensitivity it is brilliant. It is the FEEL that you should develop. Feel the techniques your and your partners.

In Chi Sau the idea is the same. It develops awesome close quarter capability.

    :)

  • I see one or two ppl think it is passive and therefore 'useless' or learning to be passive. Instead of an FMA or Jun Fan approach how about a Wing Chun approach!:

The first hand shape can be a Bong Sau, the Second Biu Sau followed by Pak Sau. Within WC there are already several hand drills that develop the tactile capability (Pak Da, Lap Da, Dan Chi and Surng Chi) I am in no doubt that Hubud is an excellent way to develop this. cont./...

  • Just read some of the comments! Yo guys keep it respectful! We may disagree but we can discuss and if we still disagree then we agree to disagree!

Must admit this Hubud is really good!

  • Very efficient!

  • hi there i was reading the comments ond one stood out to be a complete moron his name is THEAWAKENER7 he dose not seem to understand why we do drills may be becouse he is a fat bastard that eats well to meany pies. please go on and look at his clips as he has no idear what he is on about but he seems to think he know everything there is to know about martial arts when infact he know fuck all. i mean for fuck sakes there is a fat bastard that is giveing the uk a bad name.

  • Interesting, I know this is really just a drill, but are you describing wing chung? Are there similarities

used here. It seems you are describing striking back ...lines become circles.......and the centerline.

Anyway thanks for the insights. I studied with a great teacher who showed us this and many other things, his name is Chris Zeth.

  • Great section!

  • OK, Who are you? Your profile sure does not show much evidence that you are qualified to go around criticizing other peoples videos like you do.

  • You think guys with hands that are this alive cant deal with a straight punch? Learn something about weapons, mainly the knife. Once you understand those concepts you may see some of the fundamental flaws in your own thinking.

  • Very nice & informative video guys!

  • 18100 vues!

    Félicitations.

    Jean-Yves

  • Nice flow. Definetly JKD influenced hubud

  • awesome!

    looks like wingchun lat-sao

    i want to learn it

  • muy buen video!!!!!

  • Very Inspiring! Thank you for posting this.

  • Thats some of the best Hubud I've seen!

  • Thank you very much

  • wow....that's what i call fluidity and perpetual motion...

  • Thank you

  • must be europeans.

  • French, why ?

  • can you do a video on the lacaste 12 angles and how they should look please merci

  • Ok, I'll try to do that next weeks

  • EXCELENTE,GRACIAS por este video.

    de Argentina.

  • Gracias :D

  • Très bien fait!

  • Merci

  • Good drills. You seem to feed with the right hand all the time. Is this for the video or do you not switch to the left side on the fly?

    Thanks.

  • Hello,

Thanks for your comments. I do this drill to the right and the left side too.

    Thanks

  • Do you change sides during the drill or stop and feed the left side.

We constantly change sides while doing Hubud but I hear some schools don't actually switch amidst the drill. They stop and the start again with the other side.

    Thanks.

  • We change sides during the drill.

    Thanks

  • its a good video but no offense its supposed to be spelled HUBAD. U in the filipino language is pronounced ooo. if a filipino guy read this he would pronounce hoobood.

  • Really Nice Flow.

    Keep Flowing ;-)

  • Great techniques, nice flow.

  • wonderful performance

  • oops, should have read the comments..lol

  • Looks like the smaller guy has studied some wing chun...I've only seen hubad like this at our school (wing chun and kali)

  • definatly i would say you are correct

  • Très bonne vidéo. Ca fait plaisir de voir ça. A quand une vidéo pédagogique sur Hubud ? Merci

  • Merci pour le commentaire, c'est sympa. Peut-être qu'on fera des vidéos pédagogiques sur le hubud dans l'année

  • Great! Im familiar with hubuds movements, but when you start flowing gradually into chi sao, Im losing it by eye cause its too fast lol but definately awesome!

  • Nicest flow Ive seen so far. Now I know your incorporating some chi sao, and tui shou but the interweinving is incredibly fast. I like the sensative drills to break out of the motion for a strike. Id love to see the hubud steps broken down more, do you have others with slower examples how to move?

  • Hello,

    Thanks you for your compliments.

I will prepare soon a small video where I will show various possible options.

    See you

  • Good stuff. Nice flow.

What is that rolling technique being doing around 0:47 seconds?

Is this strictly a Kali excercise? Are you incorporating any other energy drills?

  • Thanks for your comments, different section is inspired by other sensivity drill (like dan chi sao or tui shou) but is always kali, because we use Kali concepts & Kali techniques.
