I rucked with a 55lb pack on my back throughout this bitch and it sucked...all for a fucking belt buckle and a blister the size of a softball on my left foot. And I'm pretty sure I threw that belt buckle in the 2/11 motor pool the day I left that God forsaken place!!! *****Napalm sticks to kids*****
Yep, I was there, too. Hend0472 is right that it was not the hardest ruck imaginable, but I still remember it as a good accomplishment for a unit. It's not too common to log that many man-miles. The overnight with an ArmySteak Dinner and a "She Wore a Yellow Ribbon" on the improvised field-theater left me with a smile on my face and a spring in my step for the next day. And yes, the funniest part was watching the entire post hobble around for a couple days afterward.
don't let people lie to you, this ruck was not hard, you constantly take breaks during it, there's a rest in the middle, you have a ridiculous amount of time, it's not a forced march, it's a cake walk. as long as you can deal with how boring it is, it's not a problem at all. if they made it a competition, it might be cool, but as it is, it's nothing.
I'm a POG too and probably not one of the respectable ones you mentioned but I train with 2-5 infantry at Ft Bliss and can say that ruck marches suck but are necessary. I do them and have always been proud of accomplishing them. You guys that did this should be hella proud of yourselves. We have a 24 mile ruck coming up in March that we are preparing for and hopefully i do as well as you guys did there...Hooah!!
that shit sucked. and truckr74. it wasnt training for war. just something to do jackass. and you talk about legs? lol u are a POG and not even a respectable one. you havnt even earned the right to say the word LEG. stick to your useless HET. maybe if you were a 13F,68W,or another worthwile support soldier then maybe your stupid comment wouldnt matter as much.and you wanna talk about the asvab.dont be ignorant. ur a truck driver... dont forget it ..vroom vroom
stfu, truck driver or not he enlisted to serve his country, im pretty sure he didn't enlist so shitbags like u can talk shit bout him on youtube, get a fucking life hater, don't u know that u don't mean shit to the army, if u die or u ets army would get somebody else to do whatever u do, easy like that, so shut ur ass up and soldier up bitch
what are you talking about? i think u missunderstood....wasnt talking about the one who posted. talkin about the truck driver driving around tiefort talkin shit about guys doing a road march...hmmm. i forgive you.
Fucking legs, I bet you wished you took your ASVAB test more seriously now. also, kind of hard to train for war without you weapons. I guess your CO just figured you'd lose them anyway, so just leave them in the connex, right? I've been around Tieford many times. looks better from the cab of a M1070.
I served with the 11th ACR in Fulda, then served with the 6th BN (M) 31st INF at Ft. Irwin. I know the Regiment is the best in the Army, and Ft. Irwin is the worst the Army has to offer. That hump must have been from main post, out around Tiefort, and back. I never did that (with the "infantry") in anything less than a duece and a half or a S**thook. Blackhorse!
Good job, brutha! 30 Miles is definitely "no punk".
I saw in your comments that this was a "two day event"? That's not too bad, actually. Don't get me wrong, I'm not taking ANYTHING away from your accomplishment here, but it could have been worse. Two 15 mile days at a 16+ min/mile pace would be tolerable if yer trained up to it. Especially at 35 lb. rucks. Either way though, that's good stuff, bro! Congrats!!!
What no kpots and IBAs? Bunch of pussies! Just kidding. 30M can break anybody's ass let alone with IBA and stuff. How long did the whole thing take though?
SPC Isaacs still has nightmares about this ruck-march, but he said it was worth it because the ARMY training he got out of it helped Halliburton's stock price. He was so motivated that he imagined dick Cheney on his shoulder pushing him forward to greater profit margins.
Just did a 10 mile/65lb march yesterday to prep for bootcamp (only 17 =/) I can't imagine doing this just for a belt buckle.

That was the worst two days of my life. I hope Mark Calvert got his star afterwards, I know I would slap him with my belt buckle if I could.

Looking at the video makes me wish that the Spur Ride was still a test of horsemanship.

I wanted to be stationed in Irwin just to have the benefit of that terrain. But that never happened.
