you..you can use the captured pieces?! HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE!?!?!?!? lol I have no idea how to play Shogi, the official rules anyway. I know how the pieces move, especially with the silver, gold, and lancer, but have no idea what the rules are
I really enjoyed this game. I am learning how to play Shogi. And I've watched your videos and i've learned alot and watching an actual match is just what i needed. arigatou gozaimasu.
Holy crap... I don't understand this game at all, haha. Not as much like chess as I thought. I just heard of this game from my fiancé so it's my first time seeing it. Interesting...
we explain strategys with shogi and we also explain facts with it for example the highest place in your country for example he is known as the king ...
It is similar in that the objective is to capture the king, and the un-promoted rook and bishop, along with the king, move the same as chess. It differs in many other, very interesting and fun ways. It is definitely worth learning. I just picked it up a few months ago. Took a couple days to learn the characters and rules. It's really not that hard to learn and I find it a lot more fun then chess. Check out HIDETCHI's instructional vids on here. They should help you get started.
Thanks for so much infromation, i was expecting a, "Its kinda the same." remark that would have left me hanging. Thnaks again. I think i am going to take it up as well. God Bless
I really liked this game. I never considered blocking with a 'less effective' piece so that the opponent wouldn't have it in hand (N*5h). It seems obvious now.
For the marvelous move I thought it was going to be a Bishop drop because there were a few long diagonals that were free.

@dustball3010 It took me just about one game to learn them. It's really not so difficult, and the different sizes of the pieces helps you.
