back in the day when communism came to China, it had to fight the Kuomintang, Chang Kai Shek's party; they refuged in Taiwan;

Chinese traveling to foreign countries many need a visa, unlike US which dont need visa to visit many other countries. They also have very hard time getting visa, as they need to prove a lot of their financial stability before being granted a visa.

Though yes, it's well know there is lots of corruption in terms of land development in China, I would like to know the original source saying the two women were ordered to go to labor camp (or "reeducation through labour"). I hope it's not Epoch Times. It could be the same as other sentences where people are forced to do community service like in Hong Kong. As for the corruption, I don't think anyone's figured a way to fix it.

human rights are of fundemental importance. however, to play devil's advocate: if just ten percent of chinese people were involved in an anti-government movement, they would number over 130 million strong. that would be a huge problem for the regime. with so many souls, perhaps it befits the government to be so ruthless.

it depends how u define human rights, If by human rights u mean speech, assembly, and press. Then no.
BUT, if by human right as in the right to : be feed 3 times a day, have a decent job, have health care, save up money to buy a home/car, sent kids to collegue. Then china has make great leeps in improving human rights.
A classical comparison is India and China. Would u as a 3rd person like to live in India with lots of moral rights, or live in China with lots of living standard rights.
