How do you play it like that? I do that but after a minute or so my hand begins to hurt like hell, and I also can't play the rhythm clean. Is this just me or am I missing on something here? Help please :D

One thing is to switch the bridge to one like rick. Or else you can practis hamer on without cuting your hand in to the bridge. But i now what you mean.
