  • Richie has the hottest ass on tour to go with his backhand!

  • it's like there are two federers on the court. :P

  • i dont get it, don't these players realize at some point that there forehands just aren't going to cut it? why can't gasquet change it? why can't he lose all that ridiculous wrist action that doesn't even bring that much spin? unless he goes for a haymaker with his forehand it's practically useless

  • Gasquet plays with a rope is not appropriate for his physical. The Luxilon is too rigid for his shoulder.

  • Gasquet had the talent to beat anyone and I mean anyone Fed and Rafa included when he plays his best - See the match against Monfis where he won a 6 luv set or look at the quarter against Murray at Wimbledon but somehow he never put the winning mentality together like Fed did.

  • Awesome tennis!..

  • @foul01

No doubt that Federer is awesome in slice, flicks or other superb half volleys but thats mean that he is also in some trouble therefore he has to execute those shots (slices).Personally I think Gasquet has the best backhand in the world. The problem for Gasquet is that he has a creepy forehand. If he has a better forehand I am pretty sure that he can beat anyone.

  • @lokitkit better forehand=beat anyone? yah sure mate?

  • talk about "talent overload" in this match.

  • @tvvideos365

Murray has a great backhand, but i have yet to see him really destroy anyone with it

federer demolished blake at the master cup in 2006 by his backhand and pretty much won the australian this year because of it

i expect greater things from murray though, theres still room for improvement on his claycourt game, and he is showing some promise

  • Federer no doubt can improvise a lot and can hit a lot with top spin. Gasquet no doubt can hit much backhand winners especially in 2:32 which i found it a great winner. Federer showed his champions' quality by having tactical changes.

  • what happened to the 2nd set?

  • Gasquet can get more power on the backhand than Roger but his weakness is he takes a longer swing so when he is rushed he struggles, Federer's backhand is more compact.

  • totally agree, Fed knows when to loose his arm completely and when to hit with shorter backswing/swing, Gasquet doesn't, he only hits with his arm loose and full swingall the time and has no variety nor good defensive BH either because of that.

  • Gasquet needs to redeem himself very quickly.

  • notice how gasquet seems to swing harder on his backhands than fed

  • he does, but i still think Federer's backhand is superior to Gasquet's

Gasquet does have a more powerful topspin backhand but thats it. no one rivals Federer when it comes to backhand slice, flicks, volleys and half volleys (in the present era, so dun bring Rafters name up for volleys).

if one only hits hard but lacks variety and point constructions, one would end up like James Blake, (who has a pretty decent backhand too but goes for broke in matches a little too often at times).

  • The most stupid thing that i have ever read. Gasquet's beckhand is superior to Federer's in every component, in fact Gasquet has the best one handed beckhand ont the tour since Guga Kuerten's beckhand.

  • disagree, federer has more variety while gasquet has more power

guga's backhand is also one that is more towards power play than variety play, thats why he was so much more successful on clay than fastcourts

  • you are the one who's is saying the most stupid thing I ever heard, gasquet's BH best than federer's?? What tennis are you watching? Gasquet has only power but only when he is in good position, but Federer has aim, flicks, touch, spin, power, he can do ANYTHING with his BH and play it ANYWHERE he wants whether his in good position or running match point down. Gasquet doesn't even use tactics, Compared to Federer Gasquet's BH is so incomplete and lacks the amazing variety Fed's BH has.

  • you're so wrong, federer always slice it, he can even return a serve without slicing it, gasquet has more confidence and can hit 5,6,7 backhands in a row, fed's is not that consistent

  • HAHA!!! I don't know why am I even talking to you!! You know absolutely NOTHING about tennis!!! FED slice BH is totally ofensive and its a HUGE part of his tactical game, and if you think Fed uses slices just as defense then you know shit about him, why do you think he won 5 wimbledons and 5 Us opens?? With a defensive slice?? hahha you're so ignorant and know nothing about tennis obviosly, Gasuqet slices the ball less just beacuse he doesn't even know how to slice it well, Fed is MASTER at it.

  • @foul01 that's it? It's an extremely decent quality in the era of "slow tennis".

  • @mogofou

it is "extremely decent", but you can do the same stuff with two handed backhands if you just want power

to be honest, i dont think hes really playing the one-handed backhand to its full potential, especially the variety part

federer could flick, back spin, side spin, topspin, slice lob, disguise, drop shot, half volley to some mastery

gasquet's bh is amazing becuz he's putting so much power despite using just 1 hand, but that hardly puts an advantage against most 2handed players

  • @foul01 I agree that Richie does need to use more variety, but I feel like Richie's disguise on the dropper is bar-none the best on tour (for a one-hander at the very least).

Going back to another comment about Fed's volleys, they are good and certainly top 5-10 on tour, but not the best. Llodra takes the top spot for sure, and probably Stepanek still has better volleys than Fed.

  • @JonnySV yeah and clement as well. but fed is definitely top 5 when you think about it. murray isnt too bad either

  • @MulletMan3108 Fed's is good, but the three best disguised backhand droppers are Gasquet, Haas, and Agassi.

  • @JonnySV oh yeah, but I was talking about volleys haha :D

  • @JonnySV federer has a better volley than stepanek and llodra anyday....he has volleys that rival those of sampras and rafter etc....

  • @masterofmucus Fed's volleys are good, but definitely not what wins him matches. Llodra, pretty comfortably, has the best volleys on tour, followed closely by Fed/Steps.

  • @foul01 Gasquet has the best backhand, no doubt about, sorry :)

  • good rally in 0:17 to 0:31

    Federer great Defense and Offense

  • Where has this Richard gone :(

  • what a difference gasquet in his prime and now, and fed still continues to dominate!

  • Richard at his prime at 18!!!

Can't see other player who has achieved his prime at 18
