  • What difference does the comedy skit and the applause make, it's a lip sync anyway. This is the original album version!

  • una maravillosa cancion, me trae lindos recuerdos de una mujer que sabe cuanto la ame y creo que aun la amo

  • they just get better and better especially with new audio.thanks...hauntingly beautiful...the song reflects some very truthful parts of Karen's feelings.

  • Folks, if you still have your mother, and you can't reach her right now, send her this song. It will move and and show that you care. Mothers Day is 18 March this year. God bless our mothers and God bless you all, with love xxx

  • great song!

  • loverly..thanks!

  • BELLA Y PROFUNDA CANCION, MAGISTRALMENTE INTERPRETADA POR ESTA GRAN CANTANTE DE TODOS LOS TIEMPOS, KAREN CARPENTER.

  • Oh dear, how lovely, out come the tissues again!!

  • My sister dedicated this soong to me, we are 5000 miles apart, it made me cry.

  • Once again Ned you have given us a music video of the Carpenters executed to perfection with the new overlaid track. BRAVO ! Thank you for your continued hard work and dedication of all things Karen and Richard and for sharing your hard work with us here at Youtube. You are a true fan's fan.

  • NedNickerson2010, thanks for this video. It´s always a pleasure to hear the wonderful voice of Karen.

  • I love you Karen!

  • made me cry. why!

  • Miss u forever!

  • a song for Karen......for ever...great singer...

  • This line - I love you in a place where there's no space or time; I love you for in my life you are a friend of mine and when my life is over, remember when we were together, we were alone and I was singing this song for you.

That really is what it feels like when she sings that. Like it was for each of us individually. It seems like her love song to the people she would never meet or something. Amazing.

  • thank u :) i love them

  • great job I am a big fan of hers

  • When my life is over- remember when we were together...........

  • thankyou, I love it

  • Lovely Song..Lovely Voice......just hard to find lovely voice like yours....even Whitney H....miss your voice Karen

  • what to say what to say, no words describe what this song means to me, so i'll leave it at that, R.I.P he takes the best ...Love You For Always Karen xx

  • So very beautiful.

  • This is surely not a sombre performance! On the contrary, it's Karen's standard to sing her heart out in every song, every stage she's in. Zero dislike is my proof.

  • i like..i like ..i like ...i like very match !

  • I just heard a whitney houston version for the first time, it was absolutly dreadful, doesnt even come close to this! when i heard karen sing this it was with such feeling and it brought tears to my eyes, and i'm a 42 year old man!

  • ZOMG love her more than life its self.

  • Whenever I hear Karen sing, who knew many years ago ... perhaps in another life, because I'm sure the angels sing like her.

    Tony

Sempre que ouço Karen cantar sinto que já a conhecia há muitos anos ... talvez de outra vida, porque tenho certeza que os anjos cantam como ela.

    Tony

  • The dip at 0:31: inspiration for all altos!

  • i listen over and over and this song made me cry

  • This song, Rainly days and Monday, and Goodbye To Love all depressed me. All the Carpenters songs were good, but they all upset me when I had numerous years of failed relationship. After the only girlfriend I ever had in '95, most women didn't wanted to give me a chance. My high school reunion party marked the last straw 2yrs ago. I turned it around. Finally I found a relationship last year and ended the drought. It was a relief and I can do good with a woman.

  • more sombre performance is an understatement=) thanks for posting and remastering. i miss karen

  • Nice job Nednickerson2010. Loved it!!

I am fighting an eating disorder too, but i am in treatmeant. im skinny, but i think im not. I know I will get well soon. Karen case made me realize that I had a problem. anywhoo , have a good one dude !

  • Karen made a far superior version of this piece than it's composer, Leon Russell.

  • @ggigie Why does that sound like a slight to the person who wrote it?

  • ~As yng.-bachelor in HollywoodHills circa mid-70's, late to an appointment, I spotted 'girl of my dreams' in front of a VenturaBlvd. Audio-shoppe. Double-parking my Corvette, i strolled over for closer impression! She was testing a Mic.; -i became enthralled by her voice & loveliness, and told her so; -she smiled graciously thanking me, then proceeded with the Mic. -Was later told by shop-owner- "Robair you should have stayed, ms.Carpenter hoped to become acquainted"; --i'm still heartbroken..!

  • ~an absolutely sterling composition, and inspired performance by Karen and gifted bro-Richard, --sadly missing the wonderful interim tenor-sax solo by the brilliant Bob Messenger which captured the very essence...

  • nice job!

  • Karen... I miss you !!! Great voice!!!

  • Lovely video saved to my favourites. Karen was an Angel sent down from Heavan. Her silky smooth voice was/is a delight to listen to. She left us far too soon alas...

  • Such a wonderful song, by Leon Russell ... the only thing missing from this version is the great sax solo in the middle ... Karen had such a pure voice, boy is she missed ...

  • You brought tears too my eyes...in my 50's I took voice lessons, long overdue for me..a next door neighbor wanted too give them too me when I was young, ( he knew the Wrigley gum people by the way). Well, I sang many of the Carpenter's song's, and Karen who had such a gift! WOW! How I miss her, I wish I had had known her in person, what wonderful things she gave the world and what a gift you have given us...

  • uma das vozes mais lindas que já ouvi!!! música maravilhosa!!

  • love this, so gorgeous 10/10

  • a very meaning song..

  • its my father's favorite song and i think its Leonel Richie is the original of this

  • And I'm in LOVE....

  • Beautiful restoration job! I wonder why Richard never included this video on the "Gold" or "Interpretations" DVDs? The quality is as good as the other videos in those collections.

  • My favourite Carpenter song. Thanks for posting.

  • Thanks Ned, a great performance! And now minus the horrid Bob Hope bantering in the beginning :) Great job.

  • As usual, a great video provided by NedNickerson. He does a great job on all his videos. A true artist himself. We owe him and thank him.

  • A voice that will never be forgotten. No one can take her place.

  • I want to back in this generation.. I;m in the wrong one :(

  • @jgh34t the same here. God, I think I'm killing myself, but I just can't stop. It's heartbreaking I missed EVERYTHING what was GENIUS like for example Carpenters.

  • I love you in a place where there’s no space or time

I love you for in my life you are a friend of mine

And when my life is over

    Remember when we were together

  • Sinatra was a dog, and so boring. Karen would kick his ass. I agree, Karen is the VOICE. Frank is over. By the way, best interpretation of this is Donny Hathaway.

  • I've just got the "A song for you" MFSL CD and she sounds so alive that made me cry

  • Outstanding Audio for this Truly beautiful Carpters song!!

  • Beautifully done Robert. Perfect voice as always.

  • Her voice was FLAWLESS.........Karen your memory will never die it will live on in your music....

  • She nails this!

  • This will be played at the funeral of a very dear friend, this weekend.

    Jack Burton 9/12/38 - 12/9/10

    RIP ♥~♥~♥

  • Karen is one of the best singers ever... her lyrics are so clear that you understand all of them..

  • Simplesmente maravilhoso ! Tocante, belo, profundamente emocionante ! Parabéns pela postagem deste vídeo. Somente Donny Hathaway tem uma interpretação superior a de Karen para esta canção ( ambos estão "in a place where there's no space or time" , rezando por todos nós ).

Saudações deste amigo do Brasil !

  • Feels so autobiographical at times. Self doubt and a desire to really like herself. Sadly, she failed - and is greatly missed.

  • This may be one of THE finest vocals ever laid down, and one of my favorites of hers. I liked when she was so emotive and went farther with the emotion in the song. And she looks beautiful here, man. Such a loss.

  • Aretha, Caruso, SInatra; Karen?

  • @hersi29 who is caruso? and karen is certainly a much better singer than aretha franklin or frank sinatra.

  • @No1KCfan6 If you don't know who Enrico Caruso is, and if your position is to to whine and insist that "karen is a much better singer than aretha franklin or frank sinatra", you don't know your music history and I feel sorry for you! You missed the point also, those other singers are recognized as great, I was adding Karen Carpenter to the discussion in support of her gift, you numb skull!!!

  • @hersi29 well, it still is my opinion that karen is a much better singer than franklin or sinatra. ms. franklin just screams her brains out and gives me a headache and frank has a good voice, but come on, there's nothing magical about it like karen's. and i've heard of a LOT of singers, but sorry, no, still haven't heard of this caruso nobody. now get out of my life.

Karen is and will always be "THE VOICE"!!!! Hers will last through eternity when all the others have been forgotten about!!!!

  • My favorite of their songs!

  • Thanks so much! I've been looking for this! She's beautiful here ... I think this was really her! What year was this?

  • Really good :)

  • Beautiful. Maybe you can re-edit it to include the sax solo. Maybe cut into just still photo motage during that part.?

  • SO GLAD THERE IS A VIDEO OF HER SINGING THIS LIVE!!!

She sang this song the best... she OWNS THIS SONG!! RIP KAREN!!

  • Thanks so much for the new audio! I absolutely love this song!

  • Love her hairdo !!!!!

  • Great video Robert! Whatever changes you made to the original created a masterpiece of musical perfection. Keep up the good work.

  • BRILLIANT !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • perfection...........THAT was Karen !!!!!!!

  • gracias por este video, un saludo

  • Karen knew she was talented. It was her looks she had a problem with; specifically, her belief that she was not pretty enough to be singing at the front of the band. She was more than happy staying behind her drums.

  • Where's the sax solo ???

  • Was this '73 on "The Tonight Show"?

  • Never mind. I saw the other one. This must be the "Bob Hope Special"---I can usually date Karen by the hair and the dress. Looks like the same (or similar) dress she wore to the White House. Cool!

She was so talented and so gorgeous. I just wish she could have seen it. :)

  • So beautiful, yet so very sad. RIP Karen, you still have so many loyal fans who miss you.

  • What a voice......

    CARPENTERS ARE COOL!

  • G O L D

  • Wonderful! Thanks
