they just get better and better especially with new audio.thanks...hauntingly beautiful...the song reflects some very truthful parts of Karen's feelings.
Folks, if you still have your mother, and you can't reach her right now, send her this song. It will move and and show that you care. Mothers Day is 18 March this year. God bless our mothers and God bless you all, with love xxx
Karen Carpenter is the epitome of class and talent; she is dressed modestly; she doesn't feel the need to be provocative and inappropriate as some current pop and r&b stars do. THIS is music that she brings -- along with wholesome, feminine beauty.
Once again Ned you have given us a music video of the Carpenters executed to perfection with the new overlaid track. BRAVO ! Thank you for your continued hard work and dedication of all things Karen and Richard and for sharing your hard work with us here at Youtube. You are a true fan's fan.
This line - I love you in a place where there's no space or time; I love you for in my life you are a friend of mine and when my life is over, remember when we were together, we were alone and I was singing this song for you.
That really is what it feels like when she sings that. Like it was for each of us individually. It seems like her love song to the people she would never meet or something. Amazing.
what to say what to say, no words describe what this song means to me, so i'll leave it at that, R.I.P he takes the best ...Love You For Always Karen xx
This is surely not a sombre performance! On the contrary, it's Karen's standard to sing her heart out in every song, every stage she's in. Zero dislike is my proof.
I just heard a whitney houston version for the first time, it was absolutly dreadful, doesnt even come close to this! when i heard karen sing this it was with such feeling and it brought tears to my eyes, and i'm a 42 year old man!
This song, Rainly days and Monday, and Goodbye To Love all depressed me. All the Carpenters songs were good, but they all upset me when I had numerous years of failed relationship. After the only girlfriend I ever had in '95, most women didn't wanted to give me a chance. My high school reunion party marked the last straw 2yrs ago. I turned it around. Finally I found a relationship last year and ended the drought. It was a relief and I can do good with a woman.
I am fighting an eating disorder too, but i am in treatmeant. im skinny, but i think im not. I know I will get well soon. Karen case made me realize that I had a problem. anywhoo , have a good one dude !
~As yng.-bachelor in HollywoodHills circa mid-70's, late to an appointment, I spotted 'girl of my dreams' in front of a VenturaBlvd. Audio-shoppe. Double-parking my Corvette, i strolled over for closer impression! She was testing a Mic.; -i became enthralled by her voice & loveliness, and told her so; -she smiled graciously thanking me, then proceeded with the Mic. -Was later told by shop-owner- "Robair you should have stayed, ms.Carpenter hoped to become acquainted"; --i'm still heartbroken..!
~an absolutely sterling composition, and inspired performance by Karen and gifted bro-Richard, --sadly missing the wonderful interim tenor-sax solo by the brilliant Bob Messenger which captured the very essence...
Lovely video saved to my favourites. Karen was an Angel sent down from Heavan. Her silky smooth voice was/is a delight to listen to. She left us far too soon alas...
Such a wonderful song, by Leon Russell ... the only thing missing from this version is the great sax solo in the middle ... Karen had such a pure voice, boy is she missed ...
You brought tears too my eyes...in my 50's I took voice lessons, long overdue for me..a next door neighbor wanted too give them too me when I was young, ( he knew the Wrigley gum people by the way). Well, I sang many of the Carpenter's song's, and Karen who had such a gift! WOW! How I miss her, I wish I had had known her in person, what wonderful things she gave the world and what a gift you have given us...
Beautiful restoration job! I wonder why Richard never included this video on the "Gold" or "Interpretations" DVDs? The quality is as good as the other videos in those collections.
@jgh34t the same here. God, I think I'm killing myself, but I just can't stop. It's heartbreaking I missed EVERYTHING what was GENIUS like for example Carpenters.
Sinatra was a dog, and so boring. Karen would kick his ass. I agree, Karen is the VOICE. Frank is over. By the way, best interpretation of this is Donny Hathaway.
Simplesmente maravilhoso ! Tocante, belo, profundamente emocionante ! Parabéns pela postagem deste vídeo. Somente Donny Hathaway tem uma interpretação superior a de Karen para esta canção ( ambos estão "in a place where there's no space or time" , rezando por todos nós ).
This may be one of THE finest vocals ever laid down, and one of my favorites of hers. I liked when she was so emotive and went farther with the emotion in the song. And she looks beautiful here, man. Such a loss.
@No1KCfan6 If you don't know who Enrico Caruso is, and if your position is to to whine and insist that "karen is a much better singer than aretha franklin or frank sinatra", you don't know your music history and I feel sorry for you! You missed the point also, those other singers are recognized as great, I was adding Karen Carpenter to the discussion in support of her gift, you numb skull!!!
@hersi29 well, it still is my opinion that karen is a much better singer than franklin or sinatra. ms. franklin just screams her brains out and gives me a headache and frank has a good voice, but come on, there's nothing magical about it like karen's. and i've heard of a LOT of singers, but sorry, no, still haven't heard of this caruso nobody. now get out of my life.
Karen is and will always be "THE VOICE"!!!! Hers will last through eternity when all the others have been forgotten about!!!!
Karen knew she was talented. It was her looks she had a problem with; specifically, her belief that she was not pretty enough to be singing at the front of the band. She was more than happy staying behind her drums.
Never mind. I saw the other one. This must be the "Bob Hope Special"---I can usually date Karen by the hair and the dress. Looks like the same (or similar) dress she wore to the White House. Cool!
She was so talented and so gorgeous. I just wish she could have seen it. :)
What difference does the comedy skit and the applause make, it's a lip sync anyway. This is the original album version!
