im with GagyiLaszlo the ps3's are already pimped out.and as all u ppl can see there are no fan moddings for a ps3 b/c they are not like 360's and fuck up all the time.
The xbox 360 is the best on the market. the way the xbox is designed you can easily mod it and it gives a break for the amateur tech'ys like this guy and me. I dont see a lot of pimped out ps3's.
(I don't own and xbox360 or a ps3) But i think the reason there aren't so many "pimped" out ps3's is because, ps3's "pimping" to work. And as for the xbox360, i don't think the fact that you have to mod it for it work properly, makes it 'the best'.
Dude u need to STFU and stop saying shit to the people who own xbox..... i own both system cuz i can afford it not alot of people cant, you need to stop saying that since you aint got no xbox.... im glad people people actually out out video about problems they got with their xbox...so thanks for the video. unlike your ass g2skinny quit talking shit
ya i agree with KOOLANCE720 but of course stacked fans do make air flow restricted but those fans were spaced and not stacked on the original fans so thus making the air flow faster, plus the fans dont use more energy just because its big! if its 12V for little fans and 12V for big fans then its still the same power usage lol although with that mod i dont think i want to waste that much space for quietness since my xbox is pushed to the wall
I still don't understand why people keep putting fans on top of fans your doing nothing but restrict the air, use the fans as an intake some where else on the case. take two pc fans put then on top of each other and see how much less the fans push then just being single.
Ok it's quiet, but you know the fans (from the xbox 360) blows hot air out?
So, hot air can't go away, and will mix with the cold air and the warm air will be blown back in the xbox.
2nd thing is will overload your original xbox fans, because the blue fans and the original fans are doing an opisit movement and the blue fans are stronger and the original xbox fans will break.
Nice build, but it's a highway to RROD paradise...
you're an idiot, anyone with a brain is aware of the fact that 12v fans like these suck air from the front and push it past the frame.. please take special note at 7:06 , what you see is the front of the fans looking to the inside of the housing ... so they are drawing air from the console NOT pushing it back... next time you feel the need to spew utter crap please ask for your mothers permission because i don't believe a moron such as yourself should be on the internet unsupervised !!
the intercooler works but what happens to people that use them and still get red lights is not because it dosent work its because it takes more air in through the heat sink but what happens is that dust gets stuck in the vents of the heat sinks , blocking them causing them to over heat checkout my video on why 360's break and u will know what im talking about
my intercoolers blow the hot air back away from the xbox not towards it, the fans inside the xbox blow outwards aswell. I find that the xbox has trouble sucking all the hot air out, and when my mod is turned on you can feel a really big difference.
Yeah it would have been however there has been lots of reports that the intercoolers actually causing more RRoD cases and infact just make things worse. also the there have been thousands of reports that the powerpoints (that go into the xbox) on those intercoolers acually melting from the heat from the xbox and then just screwing your xbox up completely.
why buy that when this is almost free? :) the fans i built just came out of my old consoles and old comps. then i either used USB cords or transformers
Man I have already modded my Intercooler, but it's loud as hell, especially at 12V. I'd love to use better fans, so I might attempt this if I can find good fans.
where that connects to the x box if you take the case apart is a big gap i think should be taped to the metal inside all the way around where the intercooler connects so it pulls more air.u can only see this when you take the plastic housings off
wow jd4mjav that is really creative. i have a cooling mod just not like you =(. i will give this a shot in the later this week. btw i have those same fans but in green neon! and great video 5/5
Dude, your mod is just putting fans on fans (which actually does a great job of moving air) but your putting fans that move more air than ones in the 360 so your actually loosing airflow. Try completely removing the Xbox's fans then put that on there :D
I appreciate your suggestion. However, the point of the mod as stated in the video is to improve airflow and cooling efficiency without the need to mod the 360. As far as the internal exhaust fans impeding the airflow, it is minimal and not worth the effort. The 360 is going on 2 years this November with no heat related issues with 5 hours on average of daily continuous usage.
I have a few questions I will be getting an xbox 360 in like 6 days. I was curious will this potentially benefit me? And will this prevent red ring of death, I would really like to try this but im not much of a mod junkie. One more thing would you pick the Nyko intercooler over the pelican? Hope to here from you soon.
I chose the intercooler as I had an extra (broken) one on hand. I chose the fans of the ball bearing variety, for longevity, with a variable speed switch. I can't say that you need to add a mod'ed intercooler to your 360. It's a personal choice. The mod draws more air into the 360 increasing the air circulation around the components keeping them coooooler.
View the 360 dusting video link and read the testimonials of gamers who had taken my advice with positive results to simply dust their 360. At some point I will complete my mod v2 of another intercooler with some changes but the over all effect will be the same. It's a project, so take your time. Good luck!!!
A 0.12 amp current draw over the basic cooler is extremely small. This is milliamps..... I could add a small relay to switch the power on to the fans from a wall power supply.
I still wouldn't want to take the chance. Yes the current draw for the fans is .12a but do you know what the starting power is for the xbox that your pulling from? Just a little bit could go along way. I've modded my intercooler also but mine has the power slot removed and it is now wall wired. Id suggest the relay if you want to open up your xbox...
Not necessarily, there is a large Xbox 360 mod community. The cooling solutions for CPUs and GPUs in computers can also be applied to the Xbox 360. From active air -cooling to extreme water-cooling and the case mod itself, that are available on-line from retailers. Not sure what mod'g is possible for PS3. The PS3 at home, which gets about an hour a week of usage, produces a lot of heat itself.
fucking amazing work pal, makes me wish id stuck at technology class back in school, i couldve made one of these with no fuss, i hope sum 1 sells a moded collerr like your on amazon or something
hey pretty cool idea..but with the old fans u ripped out of the intercooler u could tape them together and put them at the bottom so it gurentees no over heating...just tape em all together get an AC adapter, hook em up to that and there ya go..an ultra cooling system
Interesting idea..... Although the labels on the fans indicate they are of the brushless design, it tends to fail sooner then the ball bearing design. I've had one of the Intercooler fans fail before.
I'm using two Antec TRICOOL 80mm fans and according to the link for 120mm fans, the current draw in the max position is 0.24A times two fans with a max current draw of only 0.48A. Each native installed intercooler fan draws 0.12A times three fans with a max current draw of 0.36A. With that, there is only a 0.08A difference in max current draw between each configuration and is still less than 0.5A.
I was not able to post the Antec link so you'll have to take my word for it. They do not have a datasheet on the 80mm fans so I used the 120mm as a reference as the fan's blade size MAYBE the only difference between the two. I do not know the max current draw of the circuit at the Xbox 360 power jack used to power the Intercooler fans. However considering the pin gauge of the jack or plug, it appears to be designed for high current loads.
Correction, the two Antec fans' combined high speed current draw is 0.48A with an increase of 0.12A over the native Intercooler fans total current draw of 0.36A. Each Antec fan speed rating is 0.24A at high, 0.20A at medium, and 0.13A at low speed settings.
The exhaust fans blow like a slow spinning hair dryer. They just are not effective at properly venting the air out of the case. Read the discussions regarding the cpu die shrink and heatsink placement for the new motherborad revision and the affect it will have on RROD. Review the cooling solutions as applied to the newer graphics cards and CPUs. There was a time when passive heatsinks were enough to dissapate the heat.
Case in point, electronics last longer and are less proned to hick-ups when properly cooled. In between socializing and playing sports during the summer, my son would game for up to 8 hours of non-stop continuous play due to this mod. Try the mod and you will fined your 360 runs cooler regardless of the motherboard revision. Enjoy!
Meh, I'm running a two year old 360 and I've never seen any problem with heat. I understand the importance of cooling computer hardware, though the RROD issue is a flaw in 30 or so per cent of Xbox 360s and heating is generally a seperate issue.
It's good to know not everyone is having issues. Over time, a product either works or no longer works. There is no in between. Heat is the root cause of electronic failure as it breaks down the components changing the tolerances and properties of the motherboard too. Once the failing product reaches room tempature, it will begin to exhibit abnormal behavior and fail. Good luck.
Intercooler is crap even if modded, it will overheat your XBOX and give you the 3 flashing lights. I just saved money and put my 360 on a milk crate.

INTERCOOLER HISTORY
1....intercooler came out where it plug in to the back of the console and was made of cheap plastic and burned VERY BAD 32% safe
2.....Intercooler EX came out and solved some problems by putting a metal plug that was safer to use 93% safe to use
3.....The new intercooler ts (temp smart) quieter than previous models and is 100% safe to use because it has it works on its own ac adapter
As long as you stick with the ex or ts models you will be fine HOPE I HELPED
