Shogun was immense in this fight but Machida's defence made shogun unable to get at his head, although Machida controlled the fight using this defence the judges should've seen that Machida would tire out from all the body blows eventually. Shogun's just unstoppable. Machida was immovable. I think hit for hit and stylistically shogun won though.

Shogun is fuckin' overrated and he didn't win shit. Even his actual win against Machida was just a fluke. With people putting ideas into Machida's head that he lost the first time it doesn't surprise me he felt immense pressure fighting Shogun the hasbeen (or never was in my opinion) which led to his loss. Shogun just got a lucky hit in the second fight.

And Machida clearly won the first fight. Watch it without jumping on the overrated Shogun bandwagon and you'll see who won the fight.

Shogun whooped lyoto's ass. In all honesty i would say lyoto won only 1 round. Shogun was constantly battering lyoto and the little fucker couldnt walk properly after. Shogun would have finished the match but his corner said he was winning every round (which is the truth). so in conclusion. if you like a technical fight. with accuracy and timed combinations. lyoto was a clear winner. if you like to see a fighter just try to kick and punch every second of the fight. then shogun won. but its MMA both are strong factors.

Octagon control, and overall striking. the judges are also brought in from other forms of MMA. where the scoring is slightly different. lyoto was a much more effective fighter. but shogun went nutz and threw everything he seen. the judges must of liked the technical side rather then the crazy brutal side.

actually if you would all watch it in slow motion. lyoto made some wicked counters that you miss easily at normal play speed. hes a fast mother F**** and second lyoto only missed like 10 strike he threw the whole fight. shogun missed 10 times a minute, that falls big time in effetiveness of striking witch is 1 of the 4 main things they look for. lyoto also landed more in the clinch witch was another sight to see considering shogun is a natural muay tai fighter.

Wake up people. Machida came into this fight with his regular game. Shogun came with leg kicks. The leg kicks were good, but not good enough. Shogun should have put Machida on his back in the 5th round. He didn't. This would have,should have, could have won him the fight. In a 6th round Shogun might have won. Machida hit Shogun with more head strikes, knees, mid and upper body kicks. Without the leg kicks Shogan came with nothing. He simply lost by a narrow margin. The fight was not fixed.

I can maybe see the judges giving the first 3 rounds to Machida, but they were only just. While Shogun clearly won the last two rounds and definitely won the fight. OK you said it. The first 3 rounds to Machida. Shogun had almost nothing but leg kicks. He didn't come with enough to be the champ. Machida should have been taken out in the 5th. Shogun hurt Machidas legs and then just stopped. Nothing else he did impressed me. Where was takedown? How about a punch that would make Machida stumble? Where was anything but leg kicks? Machida is still the champ. I think so and the judges think so.

Now, if it were a street fight then the groin, knee, etc.. would have been a factor and Lyoto did take a few to his femoral nerve but the head shots and many misses on Rua's part won it for Lyoto. Further, Lyoto would have been even better if it where a street fight for obvious reasons.

Lyoto did more damage to Rua's body in particular with knees.I am a brown belt in TKD and though we aren't allowed to target the legs sadly leg damage is still the most common injury. This very day I free sparred and took a decent back kick to the side of my right thigh (and delivered one at the same time). It did hurt my mobility some, but I still had my wits about me and could move and even kick.You forget the head shots and body shots Rua took and how often Rua got staggered multiple times.

we will never know if he did "more" damage to the body, its speculation. what we do know is Rua landed more hits which even the judges conceded, in terms of more head shots - just look at Machidas face and tell me "who did more damage" in terms of your TKDkick - Nothing compared to taking multiple shots to the leg in a match. taking nothing away from TKD but please spar where leg kicks are allowed for a couple rounds and then come back and talk to me until then you have no argument
