  • K, was just asking :)

  • fancy swordsmanship at 3:48...

  • Just asking but the 'Roman' Gladiators, were they gladiators or just soldiers, who were ordered to slaughter Max & co?

  • they were gladiators, prisoners mostly.

thieves, army deserters who somehow survived stuff like that.

  • Apparently the Romans were traumatised by the Military General Hannibal. That is why in this battle scene was set up so the Romans win. But instead get annhilated by Russel Crow who is supposed represent Hannibal who annhilated the Roman army at the Coliseum just like in the real battle they had. Go read it up in history the Romans had a really tough time of it against Hannibal of Carthage.

  • Indeed, had to translate it from latin :D

  • great fight scene but wat the fuck is up with the skippio army peoples armor?

do the guys have huge moobs or something?

or was skippio just perverted like me

  • some of them were women..prolly.

  • gladiator battles rule i wish i can go back in time to the gladiator battle days in rome that must be fun watching ppl kill each other

  • juakin's face at 3:52 HAHAA!! priceless

  • if watching this doesent make you feel like playing a rockin guitar solo or punching out a n angry bear then theres something wrong with you!

  • amazing..one of the best fight scenes ever.

  • Best scene ever!

  • 2.39 - pwned one might say

  • MAXIMUS!

  • 2:50 an engine? No wonder those horses were running like they're lives depended on it xD. Still an AMAZING movie!

  • why did the chariot completely flip over at2:13?

  • i'd say any number of reasons; probably because they stuck a spear into the spokes causing the wheels to shatter and could have caused a huge bump like that, or they jammed a spear into the ground in front of it and it acted the same, as a huge bump

  • It ran over the shields causing one of the side to be unbalance so it flipped.

It's was a very smart idea btw.

  • you would think it would crush whoever was holding the sheild tho. I mean half the weight of the Chariot would be put on their body...

  • Well for one, they are Gladiator and are used to heavy punishment, and secondly, the chariot only ran over a shield for a brief second, so I'm pretty sure it wouldn't really crush them.

  • hm if you say so..

  • There seemed to be WAY more chariots later in the fight than in the beginning. Did they send them out in waves or what?

  • watch Phoenix' reactions to the battle.

    he is a brilliant actor.

most of u dimwits will miss it...

  • go fuk urself u gladiator freak

  • eat shit then kill urself u lame asss fukwit

  • well cmon bitch bring the shit

  • I've never seen the movie but...is Phoenix the king? If so, I agree with you. It was funny/odd when he stuck his tongue out when Maximus cut the person's throat open.

  • Yes Phoenix plays the emperor Commodus. He wasn't a lunatic like in this, but he was a bad emperor. His passion for the gladitorial combat and not much else made him unpopular with the Senate. They tried to assasinate him but failed. Commodus actually had his sister banished after learning of her involvement, and tried to fight in the Colusseum, but was killed before he could. Remember this, it's a made up film with a little bit of historical significance in it.

  • Oh, cool :)

  • There are apparently instances where Commadus did fight in the ring but against animals, he was particularly skilled with the bow (or the animals were drugged before hand so he appeared skilled :P). A slightly less backed up story is that during these performances he once took a pot shot at the Senators (them having the seats close up)

  • Yeah you're right. If anything Commodus was a pretty smart man in some ways, but as an emperor he wasn't. Phoenix is cool though. Crowe, Hounseu, and the Germanic guy are AWESOME! I think the German dude has been in Pathfinder as one of the main Vikings and in the Scorpian King. Yes those sucked, but he himself was cool in them.

  • Lol when that chariot flipped over, I saw an engine!
