Hi, i have a question... I just reseaved a 1851 navy colt .44 cal with a brass frame for christmas and i am a avide deer hunter and maryland law states that u have to use 40 grains of powder to hunt with a black powder handgun and i was woundering if 35 grains would hurt the gun?

The weakness in the colt models is the wedge and cylinder walls you can install a metal shim for brassers to protect the recoil shield

If you use 40 strictly for hunting you will be fine limit 25 grains or less for target shooting brass stretchs
