  • looking forward to travelling (canoa) Tena - rio Napo - Peru this November. How come the animals are "caged", here in their natural environment?? I'm sure they would all e happier released in the jungle..

  • @videotomfoolery

If you read the description this place is a rescue and rehab facility. all the animals here are either rescued from being pets which were neglected or being rehabilitated from injuries in the wild. Most of these animals will see a wild release evetually. However there are a few unfortunate residents who are far too domesticated to survive in the wild and remain there for the rest of their lives.

I was lucky enough to see the release of a howler monkey, unfortunately alot of the animals find their way back to the refuge because the simply cant re-adapt to the wild. The howler monkey was waiting on our canoe when we went back to the river, so we had to remove it and leave it on the bank, surely she was not happy and proceeded to make some very loud noises. As for Capybaras they are extinct in Ecuador and will never be re-released unless there is a stable population.

  • Thanks. My wife and I, and our 9-year-old daughter will spend two weeks in Tena this August.

  • @kfupastor Cool , just don't try to spread your religion to these people . Christianity has poisoned their people enough .
