Waffles was pretty much the first to upload videos with commentary that reached out to a large audience of people. I can go on forever, but he has his own style and it is entertaining. @MidgarZolom Its pretty much USA(Mango) vs. Armada(EU) in the US. But Armada is used to it. It is extremely superficial but this community kinda is. They cheer for the fast play, higher tier characters more often than the upset. Really Armada just had his game on and Mango lost when he was ACTUALLY trying, which I just love because Mango has been really a cocky jerk and pretty disrespectful towards other players.
i honestly think if more people would reach mango's speed, he wouldn't be so "unstoppable." imo. armada is one of the fastest players out there. he's keeps up with mango's fox, and he's controlling a relatively slow character.

i like armada better just because he plays characters that take more than speed. I hate how the tiers equate speed with ranking. Peaches recovery and spacing abilities make her really interesting to use and she takes strategy. You don't actually need to wavedash with her she already has floating and her turnip to space. I just hate falco and fox because the get used in 70% of tourney matches. I want to see some variety and armada brings it.
I definitely feel that anyone who claims that Armada wasn't blatantly getting outplayed or that Mango isn't a better player is completely blind. At the same time, Mango's main focus was on being flashy and pleasing the crowd and he ended up losing. A loss is a loss. *Shrug*

I just finished watching the video, and without any biases toward one player or another like the crowd and obviously the commentator had toward Mango, all I saw was Peach outplaying Fox plain and simple. It's like the worst type of sore-loser excuse to say that the one who lost was actually better if it weren't for all the mistakes. I think Mango outplayed Armada most of the time, but he also outplayed himself a little. If he changes his playstyle so he's less likely to make mistakes, he may no longer "outplay" Armada.
Basically he overclocked his CPU a little too high, but a less-crashing CPU will also perform worse. He needs to learn to dynamically adjust his speed so it's higher where a mistake won't lead to death and lower otherwise.
@ajpanton I agree. It was a sort of dilemma for Mango. If he slowed down to lessen the risk of mistakes, he would most likely get edged out by Armada pound for pound. If Mango played at the higher level (the level where he would beat Armada) he would have much less room for error.
In short, Armada won because his mind was more in sync with his character than Mango. You could tell from the match the things Mango wanted to do in his head, but clearly Fox wasn't responding correctly at times.

In this context, if a CPU is overclocked, that simply means it was clocked past its default setting. However, you can choose what that clock setting is, so you can overclock it slightly past its default or much higher. "The CPU has been overclocked too high" is perfectly legitimate, in that "too high" is understood to mean higher than it should go
@LethalXDSSBB to be more specific in the differences between high and over, over implies that a limit has been passed. High is simply a description of the current state compared to normal states. For instance if the speed limit was 25 and you were going 30, you are going over the speed limit, but you aren't going at a high speed relative to what we consider high speeds for a car.

I can't even see what makes him so good, because all I see is a Peach that doesn't suck. His strength is being consistent with his high level play.

People seem to be forgetting that Mango's Fox was playing so much faster and more aggressive than any other Fox on record...mistakes are imminent. That's the trade off for all that speed and priority.
People, arguing who's the best player is stupid and subjective. At the end all end up talking about their favorite player (because HE thinks it plays better). At the end the only thing that matters is who wins. Armada won this genesis, mango won the past. NONE of you is being objective by speaking of "the best". you need a ranking for that.
Not a mango fan-boy here but it should be extremely clear to any semi-competent smash player which person in this match had more momentum, control, and inventive use of tech skill. But on the flip side you should also be able to tell who the more patient, less aggressive and overall more level headed player is. Mango also suicides and observable three times (oh and that dreamland game was garbage but mango still almost brought it back :D) p.s. mad fucking props to The Armada

Yes, this is a video game, however people will always root for someone who represents their area. You could make the argument that the commentary is bias and should be more even, but to complain about the crowd is just ignorance.

@Tugnus I'm going to cheer for my home team regardless, but I know if someone fucks up a punt or interception.. I'm obviously not going to be happy about it. It's not like I'm ROOTING for the other team by saying "Damn, that was a nice play...".
And the crowd was annoying in general -- Not just because they weren't showing Armada any love.
And you're right, it is a video game. That made it more annoying (to me anyways.)

i like armada better just because he plays characters that take more than speed. I hate how the tiers equate speed with ranking. Peaches recovery and spacing abilities make her really interesting to use and she takes strategy. You don't actually need to wavedash with her she already has floating and her turnip to space. I just hate falco and fox because the get used in 70% of tourney matches. I want to see some variety and armada brings it.

I definitely feel that anyone who claims that Armada wasn't blatantly getting outplayed or that Mango isn't a better player is completely blind. At the same time, Mango's main focus was on being flashy and pleasing the crowd and he ended up losing. A loss is a loss. *Shrug*

I have to agree with you.
I just finished watching the video, and without any biases toward one player or another like the crowd and obviously the commentator had toward Mango, all I saw was Peach outplaying Fox plain and simple. It's like the worst type of sore-loser excuse to say that the one who lost was actually better if it weren't for all the mistakes. Apparently people don't realize that in any game, the person who makes the least mistakes is the best?

Just adding my opinion into the mix:
I think Mango outplayed Armada most of the time, but he also outplayed himself a little. If he changes his playstyle so he's less likely to make mistakes, he may no longer "outplay" Armada.
Basically he overclocked his CPU a little too high, but a less-crashing CPU will also perform worse. He needs to learn to dynamically adjust his speed so it's higher where a mistake won't lead to death and lower otherwise.

@ajpanton I agree. It was a sort of dilemma for Mango. If he slowed down to lessen the risk of mistakes, he would most likely get edged out by Armada pound for pound. If Mango played at the higher level (the level where he would beat Armada) he would have much less room for error.
In short, Armada won because his mind was more in sync with his character than Mango. You could tell from the match the things Mango wanted to do in his head, but clearly Fox wasn't responding correctly at times.

@LethalXDSSBB not really, does the phrase "highclocked too over" make any sense in any form of the English language? Similes are interchangeable. In this context, if a CPU is overclocked, that simply means it was clocked past its default setting. However, you can choose what that clock setting is, so you can overclock it slightly past its default or much higher. "The CPU has been overclocked too high" is perfectly legitimate, in that "too high" is understood to mean higher than it should go

@LethalXDSSBB to be more specific in the differences between high and over, over implies that a limit has been passed. High is simply a description of the current state compared to normal states. For instance if the speed limit was 25 and you were going 30, you are going over the speed limit, but you aren't going at a high speed relative to what we consider high speeds for a car.

I've seen him for as long as I've see Peaches. I've gotten used to it, and followed and sometimes been part of the development of his new techniques, so he can't really surprise me with anything. I can't even see what makes him so good, because all I see is a Peach that doesn't suck. His strength is being consistent with his high level play.

Not a mango fan-boy here but it should be extremely clear to any semi-competent smash player which person in this match had more momentum, control, and inventive use of tech skill. But on the flip side you should also be able to tell who the more patient, less aggressive and overall more level headed player is. Mango also suicides and observable three times (oh and that dreamland game was garbage but mango still almost brought it back :D) p.s. mad fucking props to The Armada
