Well I would never open both valves before bleeding as it can cause air to enter the system! Open only the feed valve first, bleed the rad, and only then open the second valve. Also, you will need to top up the system if you have a combi boiler. The video is well made but a little knowlege of plumbing can be very dangerous!

when you take the rad off the wall, is it not worth putting some fernox or some inhibitor in it?

it depends on how long the rad is off, if a short time no - if a long time then yes.
the system should have it already in.
