@Umar, no he is right, Kawib is a planet, and Nojoom is star / stars.

But in this context it meant starts, because Yusuf aleyhi salaam saw 11 starts and the moon doing sajda for him.

Allah (SWT) used an Arabic cognate from Hebrew (or its predecessor) in order to recount Sayyiduna Yusuf's speach (aleihi assalam), for Kawkaban comes from the same root as the Hebrew Kochavim, in that the root-letters of both are "kaf", "kaf" ("kaf"/"khaf" in hebrew), and "ba" (or "bet"/"vet" in hebrew). It's difficult to explain why it may sound different in such a small post, but believe me akhi it's the same.

brother your translation of this is off. in verse 2 he says you all not you and verse 4 he doesn't say remember at all. I know you properly don't mean it in a wrong way but there are people who don't understand Arabic and might take what you wrote as the literal translation of the quran please but the direct translation to avoid any confusion my allah bless you

Perhaps "Behold!" for "اذ" rather than putting "(Remember) when". If I'm not mistaken, "Idh" is meant to call something to attention as well as place it in a time-context, so it can either mean "Lo!"/"Behold!" or "When".

This is NOT Qari Abdul Basit Abdul Samad. It is Qari Jawad Farooghi from Iran!!! I have heard him live and I am 100% sure. He sounds very similar to Abdul Basit but the difference is clear. Please correct your error. Thanks for posting it nonetheless.

Definitely not...sorry i know it hard to believe but you Jawad Farooghi is VERY similar. You should get some of his tapes...i have them all! I am also the biggest Abdul Basit fan so i also know his style very well. You can also it isn't him tell because it is an echoing microphone which weren't even invented when Qari Abdul Basit was around. Mashallah it is a beautiful recitation though.

Brother Jawad Farooghi is very young compared to Abdul Basit, VERY VERY young in fact.

This recitation is 100% Abdul Basit since this recital was a very famous one when Qari Abdul Basit was young BEFORE Jawad was ever born

i looked up another translation of surah yusuf on the internet and it said the same thing, as in stars...not planets...i wonder why that is?  maybe its how the companions defined it in the time of mohammed rasul allah (saws)...anyone have a clue as to why?

if you speak Arabic i can elaborate more but it but for now , as you said "Kawkap" was simply means any object or body that can bee seen in the sky , mainly stars because it was the only thing that can be seen by the naked eye in the sky at the time of rasul allah (saws)

also some times some planets sometime can be seen by the naked eye.
