im from switzerland and we have a proffesional army of 600000 and then every other male citizen had his own gun in his home so if the army fell the peole would start to kill and we keep up with marskmanness and in ww2 we were 4 times better at it than the germans hopp schwyz

Hitler's generals advised him not to attack Switzerland. At the height of the war, yes the Germans would have took Switzerland, eventually. But not without serious consequences, it would have put a serious dent on Germany's military

Why hand over your gold to a country if you can simply take the country? It seems that the only thing preventing Hitler from attacking the Swiss was the terrain which is inhospitable for Tigers & Panthers. Especially when the native prey is extremely well prepared with a network of underground installations, facilities & bunkers

It's why Nazi propaganda said they would deal with them on the way back home. Assuming they would have conquered the world, thereby having the inexhaustible resources

Switzerland's army would not have stood long against the German war machine. Switzerland's army is Militia, meaning everyday people take up arms. Against a professional army like the Germans had, they would have fallen quicker then the French.

First of all, the swiss government was totally anti-nazi and did never ever allow Germany to use its transit rails for war supply. Secondly, it was the Jews that brought their own gold (yet before WWII) to Swiss Banks. Third, hitler did not invade because switzerland was neutral, did not have any relevant ground resources, is really small and and rocky and thus not attractive and last, had a sophisticated reduit-strategy in case of an attack which would have led to huge casualties among germans.

i'm not 100 % sure, but i believe Switzerland didn't allow any transit if war material...the boarders were closed...so that can't have been a reason. Actually the Swiss shot a few planes during the time, both German and allied ones. Further that is one point of neutrality, dealing with nazi-germany i mean, at the same time they were also dealing with the allies...so...

To conclude, I shall point something out: I'm not saying that switzerland hasn't dealed with the 3rd reich, but, I think that everyone should assume his own responsabilities (sorry for the spelling, I speek italian and I'm in swiss-french university, and half of my techers are swiss-german). Every country was dealing with the germans during WWII at least until 1943, even the US and the URSS (that have been both politically fooled: barrier vs communism, working with communism) before the axe

I think that you still have to learn a bit more about the WWII facts! No country was innocent!!! Not even your beloved US...and, btw, some maths are required: a mere 20% out of a population of more than 4mil = 700'000...compare it to 156'000 allies troops that landed in europe and defeated the Wehrmacht.

Well both of them sent thousands of troops into the Russian Winter and got screwed over royally..... I'd have to say that Hitler screwed up worse tho... he was winning the war until he did that. Napoleon could have taken on Russia, but the rest of Europe would have been there waiting for him when he returned.
