I am curious about Cliff's life as I grew up listening to and loving his music. Cliff is wonderfully talented and currently lives happily with a former catholic priest and he is very happy. I am happy for him too. I will continue to enjoy his music.

My take on this is that his father probably knew that his son was 'gay' (non-derogatory) and that, if he ever did marry- it probably wouldn't work. During that particular era the expectations of heterosexual relationships was 100% and we all know of many poor individuals who have been forced to live a painful lie. His father was probably a smart man and offering good advice. I'm sure Cliff is very happy!
