When saying this is the "best album," there are a lot of things called into play. As far as mastering, they did a rather lousy job (too many guitar overdubs, not enough bass,) but as far as the writing and the lyrics this is probably the best album. Slayer is the same shit over and over because they don't measure their success with how many platinum cds they put out, or how many arena's they sell out. They play the music that they enjoy playing, and it doesn't have to be popular to be good. Metallica changed their style to follow the "alternative" scene in the 90's, probably because they knew it would get them higher sales, and more radio play.
