Wow... I can't believe so many people are misinterpreting this song. The words are quite literal. During a tough economic time, his family got ripped off pretty hard, so he killed (or at least tried to) the guy responsible.

Dude he plays the drums the same way he sings. Not good at the fancy stuff, but puts an insane amount of heart into it, and that's what makes him so epic.

@Scoob505 No, it's about the Great Depression in the States in the 20's. It was a severe combination of drought and economic failure that left the 'heartland' of America starving destitute ghost towns, often called the "dust bowl". Rich people, companies or the government would then buy, swindle or just plain take land that had been in families for years, thus the theme of this song.
