  • No, it's a Silver Sonic 3B with gold plating.

  • Lol, omg I'm sooooooo freakin jealous!!! He can double tounge, triple tounge and all that and I've been playing for 7 years now! XDDDDD I still fall in love with his tone. I sound close but not at his level.... such nice technique..

  • Do you happen to play any bass trombone?

  • I own one, but rarely play it.

  • OMFG ive been trying to get this same exact tonee

  • Hi Ed, I have enjoyed these very much. Great playing along with a nice job on the vid production side as well.

    Rick Walsh

    (another 3B Silver Sonic player)

  • Ed, it was a motivational experience to watch you play and give the maste class yesterday at The Jazz School in Berkeley, Ca. We were so fortunate to have you close up and in person to appreciate the quality of a musician you are. As I make my way back to the trombone world since 1987, twenty year ago. Thanks for your kind words of encouragement.

    Best Regards, Ralph

  • gotta love the little multiphonic growl

  • beautiful tone!

  • Hi Ed,

Very impressive, you have a phenominal warm, open, round sound.. perfection!

Im going to spend the next few days watching your videos, they're a great resource, and fascinating to hear!

I use a 3B Silversonic, a 1968 I believe. How old is yours, what mouthpiece do you use also? Im still trying to find the right piece for mine, just something to try.

I do specialise as a bass tromobonist however, but its great to get the 3B out when I can!

    Anyway, thankyou. Take care. Matt

  • wow very big sound coming through that small bore !

  • Dude ur awesome and he uses a King 2B i believe

  • 3B Silver Sonic

  • cheers to 3Bs.

  • what kind of trombone u use?

  • ed do u come to austria soon? :>

btw great Tone and Technique :)

  • Yes, I am in Austria now. As you probably know, I'm often in Austria.

  • ah nice :) im studying in Salzburg (Bonvin Daniel) if u know him, where are u teaching?

i guess u speak German as well? :)

  • Graz, my German is ok.....

  • do u have msn?

  • How often are you at the university of Graz? I would like to study the "Jazz" program there but i think one of the main reasons for that would be to study the trombone and music with your help. is that possible if I make the auditions well? all the best/ K

  • Yes, of course. I am there most of the time. Please contact me through my web site. Thanks!

  • i don't believe in scales. sounds pretty good though. and yeah without scales those strings of notes are beyond my abilities

  • I do this articulation by using the "ta-ka-ta" with high air speed.

  • How do you tongue like that, i suck at it

  • Just a matter of work, really. I spent many months, or years, an hour a day focusing on and working on developing articulations. I usually combined that with scale work, which I now call tonality work. It's funny, when you work on something, it gets better..... Check it out... Ed

  • You can also use the technique "ta-ta-ka".

  • and i thought i had a good tone!!!!!!!!!!:)

  • sound is awesome
