Lol, omg I'm sooooooo freakin jealous!!! He can double tounge, triple tounge and all that and I've been playing for 7 years now! XDDDDD I still fall in love with his tone. I sound close but not at his level.... such nice technique..
Ed, it was a motivational experience to watch you play and give the maste class yesterday at The Jazz School in Berkeley, Ca. We were so fortunate to have you close up and in person to appreciate the quality of a musician you are. As I make my way back to the trombone world since 1987, twenty year ago. Thanks for your kind words of encouragement.
Very impressive, you have a phenominal warm, open, round sound.. perfection!
Im going to spend the next few days watching your videos, they're a great resource, and fascinating to hear!
I use a 3B Silversonic, a 1968 I believe. How old is yours, what mouthpiece do you use also? Im still trying to find the right piece for mine, just something to try.
I do specialise as a bass tromobonist however, but its great to get the 3B out when I can!
How often are you at the university of Graz? I would like to study the "Jazz" program there but i think one of the main reasons for that would be to study the trombone and music with your help. is that possible if I make the auditions well? all the best/ K
Just a matter of work, really. I spent many months, or years, an hour a day focusing on and working on developing articulations. I usually combined that with scale work, which I now call tonality work. It's funny, when you work on something, it gets better..... Check it out... Ed

i don't believe in scales. sounds pretty good though. and yeah without scales those strings of notes are beyond my abilities

I do this articulation by using the "ta-ka-ta" with high air speed.
