Changing a fuel pump that is in the gas tank is one of those jobs that should be left to a professional garage. Gasoline is extremely flammable and should be done in a professional environment where they have the tools, the training, and the safety equipment to do it safely. I saw a guy burn his car to the ground trying to change his in-tank fuel pump. Luckily he had the sense to do the work at the end of his driveway away from the house. Not worth the risk.
If I had a lift, all the tools, extra gas tank, ect, I WOULD BE A MECHANIC AND WOULD NOT NEED THIS VIDEO. Its like a video showing how to do open heart surgery to a surgeon.
if you are replacing the fuel pump, i assume it is because it is no longer working. if that's the case, how do you drain the fuel tank using the fuel pump?
I assumed he was attaching the hose to the fuel line in the video (that's what it looked like anyway). It is an electronic fuel pump located in the tank. If you hook up to a fuel line connected tot eh pump, you will not be able to suck fuel through it because the veins in the pump won't allow free flow. On the return side of the pump there is a check valve... which does not permit the fuel to bleed back into the tank when the pump is not in use. SO... how is he doing it?
