I got to know Larry in the early 1970s in Kendall, WA. His family moved up and totally embraced the community. He played with local musicians to benefit our community and I am proud to have had him as a friend.
Yeah, I just found out he played bass guitar on The Door's debut album, too. And that's him playing that lovely, nifty harpsichord part on The Partridge Family's "I Think I Love You". What a career!
Larry must be in the top five all time most underrated and forgotten musicians. Check out his BODY OF WORK. He MADE so many songs become classics !! Anyway, I know who he is and I'm glad for it. Rest peacefully, Larry.
would sound like. Deeply saddened to learn of Larrys passing. This music is timeless and will live on forever. Still one of my all time top favorites. Thank you Larry for a beautiful song.

There almost isn't a song from the 1960s that Larry Knechtel DIDN'T play on! He was the bet.

Not only did Larry play keyboards, he's the one who played the lead guitar on Bread's "Guitar Man".
