Still, one of my all time favourite songs. I was in love with the keyboard player , I still think she is beautiful. The words to this song are very powerful and true. "They were standing on the shore one day, saw the white sails in the sun" an 80s Oz classic tune. Love it.

considering the styles and looks have changed, i still reckon the girl in the black and white striped top is FUCKIN SEXY there! There, I've said it now.
How good and how passionate is this song!? What an under-rated group was Goanna. One of the best Aussie pop songs ever! Those girls really get into it too, as someone else has already said in this forum. The lead singer is also excellent.,
The red should be yellow, then the guernsey would be right. Saw these guys at the Village Green in Melbourne many moons ago, and Shane Howard sounded like he had a swallowed a handfull of razer blades. Last time I listened to them live.

BUT to me meeting some of the aborigines that I got to know where not a waste of mankind at all they where what mankind needs to be more like to save this earth. thanks s4099274

@gxd4b1 - It is easy to judge others, when you pass a general statement about all black people being useless - do you do so after having personally confirmed that they actually lead a useless life of dependance.
@karteej I lived for over 20 years in Darwin and its surrounding areas. A place that has the highest proportion of indigenous australians than anywhere else in Australia.
So yeah, Im semi-qualified to make a comment you could say.
It was like my aboriginal friends..........and they were my friends....atleat the the Davis tribe......lokking after me. Martha and Cheryl Davis. Luv u. Cherly looked at me. Sure she is a pure blood. High school days.
Iknow the tin shacks and car seat shanties the bus threw them off to. threw me off to my abusive step father too. Craig Davis........was my friend. Australia. Abusive country.
on Austalian story last year try the abc shop if you can get a copy, one of australias best bands along with baby animals, noiseworks, richard clapton, hunters and collectors, boom crash opera, inxs, midnight oil,ac/dc,cold chisel to name a few--go check them out and let me know what u think promote oz music and do yourself a favour--cheers
i watched a documentry on this group and in particular himself .. tell ya what , he's been through a hell of a time ! - only wished they succeed much more and not overlooked all the time , the effort's that this bloke has done deserves to be reconized world wide, not just in Aust.
Does anyone at all remember the documentry about them and what it was called - co's i want that on DVD
I presumed i would've seen it on ABC or SBS ? a few years ago now.
RESPECT to the ABORIGINE PEOPLES!! The owners and originals of this land. Man, us whities new nothing about what a harsh land we were coming too. This is a great track of history. Also a huge reminder of the INDIGINEOUS that roamed this land and survived. Without a 4WD too or a caravan. They need big ups!! BIG time!! PLEASE REMEMBER. PEACE. Rosie of Australia xx
Brilliant. Great quality version of the vid too. Now if someone has their live version from the Oz for Africa concert (with the magnificent digeridoo solo), I'll be rapt.
Hey KnobGob, What if you were born in Antarctica? You'd then have to look at what claimed territory you happened to be in when you were born and adopt that country's culture forever.
What if you were born in a plane? On a ship?
What if you were born in a country that no longer exists?
You never really thought about the fact that when a person has been living in a country their entire life time, in spite of the fact they were born elsewhere, they are most likely are going to think of themselves as part of the country in which they grew up in.
That's true for me. I was born in Denmark, but consider myself australian because that is where I grew up. My first memories are from australia. The first language I learned was english - the australian dialect.
Knobrot get a grip, I am Aboriginal as well and you did not contribute to my education and/or vocation, I am 43yrs old, my black father paid for my education and I've earned my own money for the past 27yrs. We don't own Russell Crowe or others born in NZ or anywhere else but they're Aussies in the Media, you wanna complain, go to them.IDIOT!
And the mysteryman may have bad grammer but your education obviously lacks knowledge and understanding.
agree with last comment fuk asians piss me off when they cant even talk aussie but aussie is a place for others to come and live and we welcome u u dumb cunt
oi Knob, get fucked! you have no respect for Australians and their culture... im part of the aboriginal coommunity and even though very little song writers you listed arn't aussie, poeple still consider them aussie. Oh and even if you are aussie... ur a fuckin discrace to this sacret country
Mate, your comment disturbs me in so many way. Firstly, your grammar is embarassingly bad (I'm shattered to know all the government grants I contributed to obviously didn't go towards your education). Secondly, how dare you steal someone's nationality! I'd have thought you at least would know better than that. If a guy is Scottish, he's Scottish, and don't you dare take that away from him and go deciding he's Australian just because it suits you to think so!
Knob, all of what you are saying is reflectant on a simple fact. You cannot think with versatility. What you have just stated there is the most simple minded and ridit comment I have read on youtube.
You never really thought about the fact that when a person has been living in a country their entire life time, in spite of the fact they were born elsewhere, they are most likely are going to think of themselves as part of the country in which they grew up in.
Again, let's get back to James Reyne being born in Nigeria. Do you really, honestly, think that James Reyne is going to be considered a Nigerian (by the people who live in Nigeria) if ever he was to visit there. Do you really think Mr Reyne is going to kiss the soil of Nigeria and cry 'it's great to be home!'. Is that the thought you have in your mind of James Reyne if he was to touch down in Nigeria!?!?!!?!?
What about Chris Bailey of the Saints being born in Kenya?
Is Chris Bailey, the leadsinger of the Saints, going to step into Kenya and claim it to be his HOME???? Do you really think Chris Bailey would even feel like he is part of the place in Kenya in which he was born in?????? Do you really think he'd fit into the community there and be part of the people there???
NO!!! WHY???? BECAUSE HE IS RAISED IN BRISBANE!!!!!!!! And the same goes for those who were raised in Australia inspite of being born in Ireland, France, Germany, England, NIGERIA!
They come here as children and grow up here! They become part of the country and most likely, will consider that country to be their home and to be a part of them!
My father came to Australia from England when he was five. He's aquired a very-strong Australian persona and he doesn't have many connections with the folks back home in England. Nor do his brothers! Why? Coz they know nothing else but Australia, because THEY ARE AUSTRALIAN!
NOW GET ACCESS TO YOUR FUCKING BRAIN AND THINK!!!!
no most died from smack or a smack need that killed the want for music
also blame asian invasion of the 80's it killed our identity... if i was alive in the 80's i would have made most of these bands the biggest thing ever to come out of planet earth... anyone who disagrees with me obv didnt live the times or is too ignorant.... we had such good bands, so much good passion for our music and our land.. now its been killed and hopefully it will come back again..
In the meantime we go back and listen to "The Oldies"......sorry to tell you but youve crossed over to the Dark Side and become an old fart like the rest of us that follow the songs of our youth.!!! But its OK
What Aussie music? Shane Howard - Goanna - Irish Jimmy Barnes - Cold Chisel - Scottish Doc Neeson - The Angels - Irish Colin Hay - Men at Work - Scottish Bon Scott - ACDC - Scottish Angus and Malcolm Young - ACDC - Scottish James Reyne - Australian Crawl - Nigerian Glenn Shorrock - Little River Band - English John Farnham - Little River Band - English Ted Mulry - Ted Mulry Gang - England Keith Lamb - Hush - England Stevie Wright - Easybeats - England
Knob, you're a fuck wit. You know why? Coz what makes this country so great is that people can migrate over here and become an Australia and make a contribution. That's the beauty of this country. So what where they were born. It's this place that they call home and I doubt the people you've named would appreciate you saying that they are not Australian. By the way, Shane Howard was born and raised in Dennington, Victoria.
Again... everybody comes from somewhere and if they don't, their parents do. Again.. I will repeat. I do not think the people you listed would appreciate you saying they are not Australian. No God, you really think James Reyne goes around saying his Nigerian. I'm sure he'd just love to have you tell him he is Nigerian do his face. Again... a stupid comment. Don't disgrace yourself by making silly comments; especially when intelligent people read them. Are you really that thick?
It suits you to think these stars are Aussies, and you're way too keen to steal their national identity and claim they're Aussie (which is completely disgraceful in itself). I'd rather hear from them what nationality they think they are than hear it from you. People like you would be the first to whinge if Scotland claimed some Aussie born star in Scotland was Scottish. You're a hypocrite, mate. Face it, we have Rolf Harris and that's all we have. I'm Aussie too, but at least I'm not delusional.
Knob, you are delusional. Secondly, nobody including myself is making claims that Flea from Red Hot Chilli Peppers is Aussie inspite the fact he was born in Melbourne. He is one example of a few people born in Australia but raised overseas.
Nobody is keen to 'steal' their national identity, because any intelligent person knows that it's not where you were born, it's where you were raised that counts... hence, why Flea being American, not Australian.
Secondly, your last line speaks highly of a self-loathing devaluation towards Australia's abilities and success. Open your eyes a little wider. There's many more people than Rolf Harris who were born and raised in Oz and still succeeded great heights. They don't need to be born in places like Nigeria...
According to you, JAMES REYNE is Nigerian simply because he was born there. I would only love to see his response if ever he was told this.
Still, one of my all time favourite songs. I was in love with the keyboard player , I still think she is beautiful. The words to this song are very powerful and true. "They were standing on the shore one day, saw the white sails in the sun" an 80s Oz classic tune. Love it.

Hey KnobGob, What if you were born in Antarctica? You'd then have to look at what claimed territory you happened to be in when you were born and adopt that country's culture forever.
What if you were born in a plane? On a ship?
What if you were born in a country that no longer exists?

Yeah but I bet all the Asians at your school that "can't even talk Aussie" have a better grasp of English grammar than you do.
By the way, notwithstanding all the other idiotic grammatical errors in your post, I did love the irony of your line "cant even talk aussie".
KnobRot 2 years ago
oi Knob, get fucked! you have no respect for Australians and their culture... im part of the aboriginal coommunity and even though very little song writers you listed arn't aussie, poeple still consider them aussie. Oh and even if you are aussie... ur a fuckin discrace to this sacret country
mysteryman475 2 years ago
Mate, your comment disturbs me in so many way. Firstly, your grammar is embarassingly bad (I'm shattered to know all the government grants I contributed to obviously didn't go towards your education). Secondly, how dare you steal someone's nationality! I'd have thought you at least would know better than that. If a guy is Scottish, he's Scottish, and don't you dare take that away from him and go deciding he's Australian just because it suits you to think so!
KnobRot 2 years ago

What about Chris Bailey of the Saints being born in Kenya?
nzoz1982 2 years ago
Is Chris Bailey, the leadsinger of the Saints, going to step into Kenya and claim it to be his HOME???? Do you really think Chris Bailey would even feel like he is part of the place in Kenya in which he was born in?????? Do you really think he'd fit into the community there and be part of the people there???
NO!!! WHY???? BECAUSE HE IS RAISED IN BRISBANE!!!!!!!! And the same goes for those who were raised in Australia inspite of being born in Ireland, France, Germany, England, NIGERIA!
nzoz1982 2 years ago

But its OK

Mate, no need to get upset at the truth. I didn't make up the facts, just represented them to you.
Anyway, at least you have Rolf Harris! Put some of his videos up!
KnobRot 2 years ago
Again... everybody comes from somewhere and if they don't, their parents do.

KnobRot 2 years ago
Knob, you are delusional. Secondly, nobody including myself is making claims that Flea from Red Hot Chilli Peppers is Aussie inspite the fact he was born in Melbourne. He is one example of a few people born in Australia but raised overseas.
Nobody is keen to 'steal' their national identity, because any intelligent person knows that it's not where you were born, it's where you were raised that counts... hence, why Flea being American, not Australian.
nzoz1982 2 years ago
Secondly, your last line speaks highly of a self-loathing devaluation towards Australia's abilities and success. Open your eyes a little wider. There's many more people than Rolf Harris who were born and raised in Oz and still succeeded great heights. They don't need to be born in places like Nigeria...
According to you, JAMES REYNE is Nigerian simply because he was born there. I would only love to see his response if ever he was told this.
I can't stand Aussies with a cultural cringe.
