@Brulluhman Depends on the target. If it's dispersed infantry in cover then a standard Hellfire is not the right tool. Hellfires are great for taking single targets that are hardened and/or you want to limit collateral effects. But for large groups of infantry, especially with built up cover, you'll need weapons that can cover a large area, do it repeatably, and able to adjust quickly. Thus calling in a DAP with gatlings, 2.75" rockets, and a 30mm firing HEDP rounds.
@7domonic7 For a civilian like me, the most exposure I have seen that Helicopter get has been that movie..and the ones that fly over my house. (Although I have been told they are Navy cuz they are grey). I've learned a lot from people posting videos like this about just how versatile the Blackhawk is. Agree with poster below..wish the LAPD had them to bust some crack houses to smithereens!
@spinfrak Black Hawk can also carry up to 16 HellFire Missiles. Mexican army, using Mi-24 along with UH-60, actually prefers Blackhawk's firepower over Mi-24. Mi-24 was never designed for attack, but its actually, a pin-point insertion and extraction - which it did an awesome job during Soviet-Afgahn war.
Yeah ^^ something else i do not get. the KA-50. For those of you who knows how it looks, it got two main rotors, one ontop of the other, and no tailrotor. If the top one fails, it can slow down and be chopped off by the lower rotor, meaning total engine havoc
Yah, me too. Secondly, won't the 2 counter rotating rotors cause MASSIVEEEE turbulance? it would be very very unstable. Thirdly, Howard Huges developed a system like that for his spy plane's props. I think the XO 111 or something. It crashed because of that.
...probably that it has less conflict with the ground on landing, it has less problems when it goes out, something like that, but in reality it seems to create more problems then it seems to solve. Typical russian peice of equipment.
The KA-50 is a decent helicopter; coaxial rotors have several advantages over typical layouts in that they can generally lift higher payloads relative to the power of their engine and take up less space, although the trade-offs include high drag and a higher rate of mechanical complexity/failure.
@DeathtoRaiden1 No, but I've spoken to one of the guys who helped invent it, and I'm pretty sure that he knows what he is talking about, so mabye you should stop talking about things you know nothing about.
Hit em with the M134 mini gun, follow it up with the M230 chain gun then top it off with a few hydra rockets.

The DAP is highly modified with 30mm cannons, miniguns and rockets. It carries no troops.

It's a lift platform so it can haul some serious payload. They can attach "wings" to the side and hook up ordance to that.
