Got one for my 15th bday back in '86 from a specialty shop. There were maybe four stores in the US back then importing high quality anime toys with mail order biz and then smaller dealers you could find at Cons.
uh guys?? unless you had a JAPAN TOWN in your city? you werent gettin this in a store! this is the japanese version! not that badly painted american version ya got at Sears or Mervyns!
You can still find this toy for about $250 to $300 here in Little Tokyo toy shop in Los Angeles.... I saw it and its in very nice size, extreme beautiful high class detail.... everything moves, nice case and accessories too...
@limboslam through model shops that specialized in sci-fi model building, where you sent away for the cataloge. Merchandising for StarBlazers was as underground

I have this. It was at parents house in Sendai, still has box.My Sister and I use to watch this with my Mom.

you can find those on ebay. There expensive but, they are made in Japan.

possibly some hobby shop. i'm certain i NEVER saw it at kiddie city, toy r' us, sears or woolworth.
