At one time there was over 25,000 Shriners in the Cicagoland areas. Occasionally there is an accident. The Shriners are wating this more carfully now accidents should not happen, sometimes there is human error like if a individual Shrine club does not stop an aging Shriner from driving, it could be a Mechanical error, in addition there are environmental conditions like rain or high winds during parades. The speed factor tires there should be an emergency brake or a heart attack who knows Etc
WTF? going way too fast? not paying attention to road conditions ahead? From what I can see the red buggy came out of the circle too fast and didnt react to the yellow car until he was almost on top of it, braked and swerved and went into the crowd, but the basic cause to me is going too fast in a confined area. Its not a Shriners issue, its the drivers fault no matter how you slice it for not paying attention to the conditions.
dont know but it actually looked like the old bugga just froze, what the hell was he doing behind the wheel of something powered by petrol, shouldn't he be in one of those electric fourwheelers with a red flag on a flexi pole that just screams old person
Google "chattanooga parade accident". 8 people hit, 5 went to hospital. kid had a leg fracture, an adult broke a leg too. Reported as "___ was driving a red dune buggy in circles when it brushed the rear of a yellow mini-car and ran into the crowd." WTF?
Id make that old dude piss in a cup and test him for drugs. He was going way too fast for his own good. Sure, shriners help people, but it doesnt give them the right to drag race down the street.
How about you go talk to one of the millions of families the shriners have helped and hear what they have to say about them maybe then you won't be so ignorant =]
I think you should get your facts straight before you go around bashing shriners. if your family member was hurt and the doctors were telling you there's nothing they can do and a shriner transports them to a shriner's hospital FREE OF CHARGE or ANY expenses for that matter and saves their life maybe then you'll have a little respect for what they do.
You must have no idea about the day-to-day lives of shriners outside of Cincinnatti....They couldn't care any less about the burned and crippled children. All they care about is collecting dues from their stupid drunken social clubs and all the alcoholic members. I saw at least 40-50 of the IDIOTS who participated in this parade the night before at their "Red Fez Club" in Soddy Daisy, TN. All of them drunk of course. I'm amazed there was only one accident during this parade.
You must have no idea about the day-to-day lives of shriners! My grandfather was one for over 50 years, yes, they do enjoy social functions but they operate to run the hospitals, very similar to my Rotary club. Get a clue!
Yeah, I'm a former Shriner myself and my grandfather and father were/are Shriners too so please don't tell me to get a clue. I already got one and that's why I don't participate in the nonsense of the Shriners I know.
Unfortunately, the fools I refer to above are cardholders, not really shriners. If your grandfather didn't work in one of the hospitals or do something else productive to help burned/crippled children then chances are he was a cardholder too just like most.

If anything, they probably thought it was part of the parade at first and that he would turn before...He actually ran into them.

Why the hell would they not move? they had at least 4 seconds, enough time to step outta the way...
Lz5040 3 years ago
duh, they are americans, they have the instincts of cattle - they'd only move if someone else moved first for them.
sarahk0 2 years ago
I rewatched the video and they had like .5secs to move. I woulda thought he was gonna do like a figure 8 kinda move or something.

Even if the yellow buggy hadn't of been there, he was still heading straight towards the crowd. That report is stupid.
