  • Saw Zappa as my first concert ever. His band never stopped playing the entire show. Public Auditorium, Cleveland Ohio, about 1983.

  • Do you have a copy of this entire show? I would gladly compensate you for this delightful recording.

  • I was not there but it is indeed nice to hear a different version then the live double vinyl I hears 1000 times plus...

  • I was there...!!!! Fukin' amazin' !!!!!!!!!!

  • This is incredible.

A couple of years ago I had the pleasure of kissing Napoleon's hand after a fabulous Mother's concert. His vocal during this performance was wonderful.

God how I miss Frank. There will never be one as good again and music never had such a talent.

  • Nice!

  • Overnite Sensation and Apostrophe are incredible works---if ya held a rotten tomato to my noggin ,i would say his best work-a slight cut (you could make more money as a butcher) of beef than the other genious music like so many eyebrow hairs, Frank delivered-but dont hold me to it cuz my hair is getting good in the back.

  • @wacmac1

I am sorry but i think, the Roxy and Elsewhere, One Size Fits All and Zappa Live in New York 1977 are 3 x times better then Overnite Sensation and Apostrophe

  • @Zappafan1980 No way, overnight sensation is brilliant and apostrophy is one of the best albums... btw the grand wazoo, hot rats, bongo fury, sheik yerbouti and zootallures are as good as the others... the hardest songs to play are on roxy and onesize tho...

  • @LawlFrank

Have you ever Heard the Songs Sinister Footware and Sinister Footware Part 2 and Drowning Witch ?

    and Alien Orifice ?

These are the hardest to play according to Zappa himself

  • Trailers of Thanks for post this marvel.

  • That's it get a groove going out there!lol he was one of the funniest people who ever lived and what a musician.

  • Who else gets a strong P-funk vibe from this version?

  • @narozzz I did, that's why I put it in my funk playlist I guess.

  • groovy

  • fuck yeah! i love this variation.....

i mostly listen to the Roxy one.

  • That stretch from :19 to :49 is one of the baddest jams I've heard in a while.

  • this is the golden band of frank zappa, when everything they made was superior. love zappa !

  • hahah been listening to this version for ages! Classic

  • One of the better versions I've heard nice and loose and funky too.

  • was Frank doing that black chick. in the photo...LOL...he had more love for black people than most rock ensembles....

  • @dazamaru that was bianca thornton, she toured with him from late 75 to late 76.

  • THIS HAS TO BE ONE OF MY FAVORITE!

  • This is a great version.

1973-1976 were the best years for me in regards to the MoI.

  • Amazing Version Totally Different from the Roxy and Elsewhere Version

The Photos are Amazing to i Love the Picture at 1 : 30

  • Cool version :) It would be good to have this in a good quality audio..

  • UAU, amazing version!!!!!!

  • why didn´t he use this version?

  • this show was recorded for roxy and elsewhere but this version wasn´t used (Trouble Every Day (full) and Son Of Orange County (partly) are from this concert)

  • A little monster!

  • for moments this has a kinda disco sound

  • ....also sounds a bit like Merry Melodies cartoons....from which I'm sure Frank took some inspiration...

  • that was maybe his tightest band ever

  • i agree

  • @krang07 Maybe ? To play this stuff correctly is amazing...it's beyond tight... it's unbelievable. Good comment and quite true.

  • I want those sunglasses!

    TBD

  • I can hear the Chameleon riff!

  • Just amazing, such a great show.

  • Too good music man, too good!

  • govt mule did a decent version. Good night Austin Texas whoever you are the present day composer.....

  • Damn nice. That's one of the GREAT things about Frank's shows. You never knew what you were going to hear.

I have been a HUGE Zappa fan since 1974.

I met him once, introduced my family, got a very tiny autograph.

  • The early to mid 1970s were a tremendously fertile phase for Frank. He wrote hours upon hours of truly amazing stuff, some of his best. He just wouldn't stop

  • @GreggaryPeccary yeah because he finally had the musicians to play it.Imagine if he had these great guys in the late 60's instead of those schmucks he used.

  • @fadethetrade Wouldn't say that. This band didn't have the air of dada/absurd theatre that the original M.O.I. did. It comes with certain advantages and disadvantages. Frank lamented the fact that it was so difficult to find ace musicians who were theatrical as well.

  • @GreggaryPeccary C'mon,i have a masters in music, percussion ,piano etc. Bunk gardner, preston, black, estrada etc. They were limited musicians. Then came flo and eddie,dunbar,underwood,better,........then the wazoo band, then the heavyweights, the big boys came in.the rest is history but the grand mothers were limited for a genius like zappa. Imagine Stravinsky getting a high scholl orchestra to perform rite of spring????

those grand mothers limited zappa's potential profoundly.

  • Of course, very limited musicians. But the original M.O.I. had a certain absurdist quality to them that the Underwood crew lacked (speaking of theatrical behaviour only). This nutty fringe quality. Not that I'm saying he should have stayed with them, but they were an integral part of his development. The lack of musical education and filthy-rotten plebeian attitude in conjunction with a bearded, disciplinarian high-brow ringmaster was what made the whole undertaking so... absurd.

  • @GreggaryPeccary Only after he broke his leg in that accident on stage in 72 and fired flo and eddie.

  • Damn funky, damn sexy music!!!

  • Some red hot funk, Zappa style! The man was the last great composer ever!

  • thank you for posting this! this version rocks with a capital RAWK. god i miss Zappa.

  • I used to have this entire show on a boot and it's worth searching for....also the El Paso 75 show is a doozy!

  • I need to get this album. I thought i had everything he did, but I sure as hell didnt know about this one

  • I'd love to hear this whole show....

  • Napoleon is wailing on this one!

Still miss the laughter, and the man.

FZ was right! ~ Music is the BEST!
