I completely agree with everything he said. I came out to my religious parents when I was still in high school, and they didnt kick me out, but it was a close thing. They were very disrespectful of my opinions and were rude to me. I definitely wish I had waited to tell them until I was on my own.
I am older than you. I think coming out is not very important because what is important is that you accept yourself. Young people can still go off and live on their own it is better than living in a fake or hostile world. Remember older generations many people like the idea of having a secret world. Non gays never really accept you and never want to hear about us. You are really a very mature and articulate young man, I admire you and what you are doing is fantastic.

Now its awkward around her, and even though she never brings it up or anything, i can see that she sees me different. which im not. basically something i would suggest, just in case something happens after you tell family, be prepared for if you cant live there or anything. lik have a place to go where its safe. thats my advice

I actually came out as a sophmore...im not a senior. My step mom was fine with it my mom is fine with it but my dad says he is but acts like isnt. I think its great that you came out to your parents and everything :) We need more people to go out and show that they are not alone...we need to show people we are all equal wether gay straight or whatever they are...we need to show that there is power in being honest with others about this and power in your sexuality

I am kind of at the point where I came out to my parents first. (Who are very conservative. Ironically, my dad understood and my mom is in denial). I just came out today to a friend of mine who I have a ridiculous crush on, who live away from me now. It is actually YouTube that helped me with this. Seeing other guys who were able to do this made it much easier for me. Basically how I feel at this point is that I will come out to my closest friends and if other people find out, such is life.
@838287 You should check out p-flag. They have a website you can find through google.com. They will let you know that many people love and accept you despite that many others don't. P-Flag helps a lot of gay teens and others sort out their feelings.

I actually came out as a sophmore...im not a senior. My step mom was fine with it my mom is fine with it but my dad says he is but acts like isnt. I think its great that you came out to your parents and everything :) We need more people to go out and show that they are not alone...we need to show people we are all equal wether gay straight or whatever they are...we need to show that there is power in being honest with others about this and power in your sexuality

I am kind of at the point where I came out to my parents first. (Who are very conservative. Ironically, my dad understood and my mom is in denial). I just came out today to a friend of mine who I have a ridiculous crush on, who live away from me now. It is actually YouTube that helped me with this. Seeing other guys who were able to do this made it much easier for me. Basically how I feel at this point is that I will come out to my closest friends and if other people find out, such is life.

@838287 I can't tell you to come out or not to come out. That is up to you. No one can make that choice for you. I'm an openly gay man, but my grandparents don't know about it. Everyone else does though aside from very few family members. Do not commit suicide. Being gay is not something you should kill yourself over. I was about to do that before and I'm glad i did not because I have accepted that i'm a gay man. I am also very happy and proud to be gay. Learn to love who you are.
