An animal perfectly adapted to her world, and a world that might fail without her. A world of strange disappearing dry forests, where if an aye-aye isn't careful, she'll be devoured by fossas, snakes, etc. A girl's gotta be smart. She's gotta stay low, nocturnal, small and quiet. She's more beautiful than many of us. And after reading many of these comments, I find she's infinitely more useful. I salute her.
Poor aye-aye, my heart bleeds for these tiny, vital creatures. Their little bodies, possessing atributes perfectly adapted to their environment, repel us, I'm guessing, because they look like malformed human children. But look again...those huge ears can hear the tap-tapping of hidden bark grubs. That fantastic finger can grab a grub deep in a hardwood, where it's busy killing the tree. Those eyes, facing foreward, catch every bit of electromagnetic radiation a dark Madascar night can offer.
The aye aye is actually very useful because with it's long middle finger it's able to dig out burrowing grubs in the hollows of tree trunks/branches and this keeps the tree healthy inside and pest free. I think it looks quite cute and it's definitely a lot more useful to the earth than a lot of people I know.

Madagascar. The the majority or natives, they're an 'omen of death'. There are a few tribes that consider the aye-aye a good omen, but they're few and far between.

@HaBooBo0 I realize that people tend to be extremely shallow when determining their opinions on "cuteness" but the animals curiosity,slow movements and eating technique is what factored into my opinion when I wrote that 2 years ago. Watching the video again I still find the animal fucking adorable regardless if it is odd looking at first glance.. Basically what I am saying is that the only delusional person here is you if you think I was simply talking about the Aye Aye's physical appearance.
Yes they are their habitat is dissapearing rapidly and locals kill them because the Aye Aye is supposed to bring bad luck, its a traditional believe. There are only a few spots in Madagascar where they live and are very hard to spot.
