Outcast/Academy are infinitely better than TFU. The PC games offered a lot more inventiveness with powers and moves, while TFU has a limited range that are expected from you with every step of the way. If it were not for the graphics and surrroundings, then TFU would be mindless repitition. With Outcast/Academy, you got better as the game went, and the challenges got harder, but you could do more as the game went.

The Force Unleashed: A glitchy, rough around-the-edges console button-masher with some good graphics+ sound, plus a cool story. It's God of War in the Star Wars Universe.

I don't know about you, but I don't want my Jedi/Sith action to be dominated by button-combos and the inability to use many of my force powers while moving.

I see where you're going with the whole "first" or "real" Force Unleashed comparison... but the fact is that every game in the Dar Forces/Jedi Knight series was WAY better than The Force Unleashed. I'm playing through TFU right now, and it does have some great features. The graphics are very good, the environments and music give it a solid Star Wars atmosphere. But all things considered, Jedi Outcast and Academy just blow it away. Better saber combat, controls.. Makes you feel like a jedi

This game's engine is preferred by modders despite JK3 having more 'bells and whistles" as it were. This game had just so much about it, and I believe that because it was a major step up from its last, that is why it still gets more love.

BUT they are completely different games, TFU is a brawler and jedi knight is FPS but 3rd person while you are using a lightsaber... AND btw Dark forces was just a modded wolfenstein game, and Outcast reminds me of Heretic 2

Dark Forces used it's own engine, the JEDI engine.

Also that engine was closer to Doom than to Wolfenstein.

Also if you want a game more like Heretic 2, look up Jedi Knight.

This was one of my first ever games (on Gamecube), and looking back, I'm lucky to have played such a good game. I have higher standards for what a good game is. Too bad they don't make shooters like this anymore.

What other Star Wars game let you explore the expanded universe in such detail as this (post Episode VI)? Huge maps, puzzles where you actually had to take a break from fighting to use your noggin, unparalleled open ended-ness for an FPS, even today. If only they made another :(...

Personally, I still prefer "Jedi Outcast", though I must say one thing "The Force Unleashed" has that I wish the Katarn games did were the "endgame scenes": where the manner in which you win the duel is pre-programmed, and all you have to do is hit the correct button combinations. That added a lovely cinematic touch to the "Force Unleashed" game, moreso than the slow motion death scenes from "Jedi Outcast".

Personally, after playing SW: TFU and Jedi Knight II and Jedi Knight III. I think that it's pretty safe to say that the lightsaber fights/duels in the Jedi Knight series are better. Shame they didn't make SW: TFU lightsaber duels like the Jedi Knight series :-(

btw jo isnt rly unleashed.....It was just one of the good lightsaber games the force powers were...meh. Unless you had g_knockback up to like 3000-4000 Then the force push was a lot like TFU but still...if anything its an fps with a lightsaber and some basic force powers. But still was really great. Sp amazing. Mp WAS good till everyone started to use scripts and uterly ruin MP. But you cant call it the original force unleashed cause it was no where near that.

Well, this was one of the first games back then to have control over the force in this way, so back then this was "The Force Unleashed". That's how I see it, I was blown away by the trailers for this game and saw it as more of a Jedi game and not a shooter.

This game is without a doubt the best star wars game of all time. Many things in Force Unleashed were taken from this game, with good reason. I use g_knockback 3000 lol. And g_saberrealisticcombat 1 is one of the greats too, shame that can't be in TFU. I still love the single player, and in it's day the multiplayer was quite an experience. Outcast was so much better than Academy. And, thejag, have you even seen TFU? Starkiller is NOT Kyle Katarn...wtf dude

Yeah, it's worth it probably, for it's pretty rare to find these days. Unless you get the Best of PC compilation with Jedi Outcast and 4 other really good games only for $40, and it came out in 2006 so it should be easier to find.

Ive beaten this game countless times. this game is alot of fun. But I must say that Jedi Academy is much better. The force unleashed look truly amazing though. The easier way to beat desann is to get him by those pillars and throw ur saber at the pillars and they will easly crush him. But watch out cause theyll kill you too if you dont get out of the way (even with god mode on). P.s. How did you get that skin?

After playing the demo, this game has the force unleashed beat. Again, it was only a demo, but other than a more accessible and streamlined control scheme, i dont think it will will be more fun than jedi outcast

I used "g_knockback 9000" in the console without the quotes. I binded 9000 to PgUp, and 1000 to PgDn so I can switch between them. The limit for the cheat is 900000, but when you use that, the moment you push the guy, they just disappear instantly :D

No, he probably just used cheats like god and setforceall, and binded g_knockback 1000 to one key and 9000 to the other so he can do the 'super push' and normal push. I do the same when I play.
