I had just stepped out for a smoke and saw the clouds coming straight at us, but against other clouds it did not look like that. Some birds were eating seed my dad had thrown in the driveway. He said something about it looking like we might actually get some rain. We had hear reports from everywhere else. Then I heard three lound PANG sounds like a bullet hitting a car. I was looking at the cars, and then this roar started getting louder and louder. I finally figured out hail was incoming & ran
@Satchmoeddie I was looking at the cars thinking the neighbor was throwing wrenches or something, but no one was home. Then it sounded kind of like the freeway had moved and was lots louder. I knew then it was going to hail like all hell. About that time the larger hail was coming in almost sideways, and skipping over 20 yards at a bounce. I ran inside. The windows were knocked out of that side of the house, roof was ruined and a tree fell on the powerlines & our fence. 76 hours no power.
@Satchmoeddie Read bottom to top. The fence is $7000 damage +$1200 to remove the old one, and $9000 for the roof, $1200 for glass, and new carpets, paint, siding, etc. I am really glad I rented a generator. That was a real lifesaver. Everyone else was sitting around by candle light or hold up in a hotel room. I had everything but the main AC. 6KW is about half enough to run that. Thankfully the storm cooled things off. 1.3 inches of rain and hail melt in 12 minutes was the total & wind 99 MPH+!!
@Chrisaaad I had heard reports of hail in Carefree, Mesa, etc. I am at I-17 south of Indian Sch Rd and at about 4:50 I was outside and heard a loud Pank sound like a pellet or bullet hitting a car. Then I heard this roaring sound getting louder, and I finally figuered out it was going to hail. About then the larger golf ball stones were bouncing across the street over 60 feet per bounce and coming in almost sideways. The power was out for 3 days, and I have >$30K in damage. (house only) car ????
Ah! You saw it too! it was scary; it was like the cloud was eating the sky! With all its rain and extraordinary strong winds. If I thought quickly enough, I could have filmed it. Thanks so much for capturing it on video!
that was a pretty epic storm. we had tornado warnings and everything...you gotta love AZ

was that the 2nd storm that came through at 5? crazy how fast it came through. ive never seen anything like it.
