I AM A UNION MEMBER AND DO NOT SUPPORT THE GUN REGISTRY OR ANY OTHER OVERLY RESTRICTIVE LEGISLATION(EX. restricted/prohibited classess) I feel for the families of those killed at ecole -polytec and elsewhere. BUT the gun registry is useless and will not stop senless acts of violence like that.

According to StatsCanada, guns were involved in less than 1 out of 1000 domestic disputes in 2008. The exact number was 34. Thats a tiny part of the domestic violence issue.

How does a piece of paper stop a mad man from commiting mad acts?

The gun regsitry will be abolished. The moneu can then be put towards all those causes the woman in the video mentioned.

Yes violence aginst women is wrong, but violence aginst all people is wrong, but you are only saying violence aginst women is wrong.

So, I ask you. Is violence against men ok then?

You are more likey to be killed in a car accident then killed by a firearm, yet I hear no cryout for the banning of cars, or stricter controls on the usage of cars/trucks.

Propaganda as always. The only good the registry does is it gives paperwork to the police so they can wipe up the blood of victims AFTER THE VIOLENT ONSLAUGHTS. I rather have the police stop crime before it happens then investigate it after it happens

The socialists have had 20 years of social engineering to address these real problems, but instead $2 billion was squandered. That money could have built shelters, financial support for a new break, educational opportunities, etc. Instead, money enriched political parties and those in the activist community through kickbacks. Do you want to end violence against women? Try giving them concealed carry permits! Tale of two cities: Woman in Seattle is approached by potentional rapist, she takes out her pistol and defends herself. In Vancouver she gets raped and maybe murdered because in Vancouver there are no legal wepons women can carry for self defence. Pepper spray is prohibited, a gun is prohibited, etc.

The long gun registry does nothing to improve public safety. Licencing does and will remain in place even after c-391 passes.

Please stop using these 14 women to further your cause. The issue is not guns it is violence and untill this is addressed there will be no progress.

I cant understand how people think the registry helps in any way to prevent violence. It is a huge waste of tax payers money. I would much rather see that money spent on health care or roads.

Criminals will never register their illegal guns, so why should we waste the money on the long gun registry ?

As a 25 yr union member and law-abiding firearms owner, I say the CLC has overstepped it's bounds by supporting a useless, tax-wasting, and 80% inaccurate registry. Union members should instead ask themselves what $2 Billion could have done for women's shelters across Canada.

Until the union movement stops funding this propaganda with MY union dues, I will not support them in any way whatsoever. I will tell other gun owning union members about this disgrace as well. Can you say "backfire"?

Unfortunately the whole premise of the Registry reducing the violence against women or anyone is totally false. Over the last two decades the number of reported incidence of violence has increased, not reduced. Why??? Simply because the registry has nothing to do with preventing violence. To get a license to purchase or own a firearm you have to go through several record checks which probably do a lot more to curb firearm violence than the registry ever will.

If a person is going to commit a crime with a firearm they wont care if it is registered or not ! Ban firearms altogether and you will have machinists making firearms for the black market. As a "socially conservative" male I find it silly that you think that women are not yet equal. I work with strong women everyday in the army. They would laugh at you for how you deem women to be less than equal. But then again you will say anything to further your cause and rake in the handouts from government and private donations. By keeping women in the victim category you are doing your fellow women a disservice.

In the next 20 days start issuing Carry permits to people and make it a hugely broadcast news item so that EVERYONE knows that people may have the tools on their person to defend themselves against violence by another person.

I am against violence of any sort, especially against women. But how can the CLC be spending MY money to fight against dismantling a registry that does NOTHING to protect women? . The long gun registry doesn't protect you from violence any more than car registry protects you from car accidents. I think the money wasted on the registry could be better spent protecting and sheltering women in other ways. And BTW I am speaking as one who has experienced domestic violence. 20yr union member
